"Hey! Hey, listen, we can talk about it!" Says the leader of the small army, now that they are all alone and left with me. I can sense the true panic in his voice, only provoking something inside me that screams 'kill him,' yet these feelings only last a little while before they go away.
"Why did you try to kill me? Explain it, and maybe I'll spare your pitiful life!" I suddenly start feeling a little tired as the adrenaline rush from the sudden energy surplus leaves my body.
"Well, it's what would make the most amount of; what the hell is that?" The man suddenly cuts their response as they removes their dead stare to look at the horizon behind me in the direction where Lord Auri's house lies. I naturally also turned around to look at whatever astonished the man, just to be met by something strange.
The skies at the very edge of the horizon suddenly began to turn purple, and tiny little spinning circle clouds began appearing all over the skies, slowly covering their way from the horizon toward us. Was it another one of the church's tricks? Was I falling under an illusion spell again?
I first think of that, immediately, turning around to question the fat man about it, but he ends up being as clueless as me. "Tell me what that is!" I ask the man, who quickly responds, also confused. "I don't know! I've never seen something like that."
[Destruction tournament world test]
A world screen and voice suddenly appear in front of me and of the fat man, clearly showing that this situation wasn't tied to the church. Yet what did the screen mean by saying 'Destruction tournament?" What the hell was going on? I look around me for a second and notice how the entire sky gets covered in purple clouds.
[Test run limited runtime: 1 hour]
[Expected minimal casualties: 4,000]
[Maximum allowed casualties before default disqualification: 10,000,000]
What the hell was the system saying?! An expected minimum amount of people to die is to be at least four thousand?! Yet how would the people die? What was happening, to be precise? How would the system choose who would die, and why would more people dying than expected disqualify us?
What was the whole thing about? Things don't take long to change into a more chaotic environment where creatures start appearing out of ground purple clouds. The fat guy and I confusedly look around us for a hot second, still trying to figure out what is happening, until a purple cloud appears before us.
"This can't be." The fat man suddenly spouts some words as he quickly takes a book out of one of his bags. While I have learned a lot about the human realm, the book The Guy Grabs is not written in any language I can read, so I could only speculate what it would be about.
"Do you know what this is?! Come on, tell me before I regret not killing you!" It doesn't take long for our peace and tranquility for a few minutes to be soon interrupted when a giant beast emerges from the purple cloud and starts attacking me.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
The beast carries a large stone axe and has greyed-out skin like that of a rock monster, but they look nothing like the ones from our world. The beast also has a large number of carvings and what I would assume were tattoos all over their arms while their axe gleaned a bright red tone at the tip.
"UUOOH UUOOH!" The horned beast makes a wild noise before grabbing their axe and spinning around with it in my direction wildly. The tip of their axe lights up even more, and I once again simply jump out of range to try and at least get to use my skills on it, eventually landing a successful appraisal on it. I get a confusing result.

Information: A creature from another land; there's nothing the system currently knows about them, so little to no information is available. The system will update data once the monster is defeated.
Well, that wasn't very helpful. I ended up clueless, which gave me more reason to simply confront the creature with a full counter that killed it on the spot.
As to why I didn't go for the dark sword and shield again, I had a bad feeling about using spells like those that constantly made dark power flow freely inside me, and losing control in a situation like this one would be unhelpful to everyone.
"We are on the end times! There's no reason to keep on living. We are all doomed." The man behind me soon screams out of nowhere, scaring me for a second as they pick up their sword. At first, I think they will fight me, but just when I'm ready to end him, the man simply stabs himself in the stomach while saying random words.
"We are all dead. End yourself as well. You are also dead already; I'll see you in hell." What the hell? It is the first thing that comes to mind as I watch the man end his life right before me like they accepted their fate or something.
[Current number of casualties: 567]
The screen before me suddenly updated and moved to the top part of my vision, yet how could five hundred people be dead already? Whatever the purple sky was, it had only just begun, and almost six hundred people had already died.
It doesn't take me long to put two and two together until I remember that the Auri household is still defenseless without Lord Auri there to fight at full power, so I break out, running as fast as I can back to their mansion just to see the lord's soldiers desperately trying to fight monsters off.
Yet even though the soldiers look like they are having a tough time, a small village between Lord Auri's house and me seems like it's in a lot more trouble, only pressuring me to choose between saving civilian lives or protecting my friend and stepfather.
The village people are dying without a chance to fight tiny monsters that remind me of little goblins from fantasy books, and this only pushes me even more since I know I can help. I can't keep running toward Lord Auri's mansion; taking a little detour to the village, I reluctantly begin to cast the dark sword and shield.
The skies suddenly turn a little less dark as soon as the dark power begins to flow into me again, testing my control over it again. I can feel the call from the darkness to use my true strenght to kill everyone, including the people, but I try to resist it this time, causing the holy system to lend me some help.
The flames within me soon calm down. As soon as I try to control the flow of darkness, I feel the calmness in my heart returns, thanks to the help of what I would assume would be temperance. Yet, if I wanted to keep everything under control, I would have to stay focused all the time, or the darkness would take over as soon as I let myself go.
