I can't stop thinking about what that demon said before it left this time; what do they mean with that whole "they are the real evil"? What could be more evil than a literal demon? Maybe god is evil in their mind, but so far, the god of the witches at least has been for me always.
Perhaps the demon's words mean nothing of interest and just there to plant a seed of doubt and nothing more; yeah, I'll go with that. It would be pretty terrifying to know there's something even worse than a demon out there lurking in the darkness.
Anyway, I already have enough problems to deal with at the moment; even if there were something worse than a demon out there, I haven't got the time to deal with it. For beginners, I damaged Veronica with something of mine that I don't quite know what it is. She is just covered with black spots, but I can't figure out what they are.
Lord Auri is also still in bed recovering quite well, I'm told, but Father and Veronica weren't so lucky. I did a lot of damage to people I care about, and I can never finish apologizing to them, but at least they didn't die. At least I still have them here, so it's not all lost.
As for me, I've begun trying to recover my levels back, but I've had no luck so far; it just seems like I'm out of fuel right now, like I hurt my magical organ or something of the sort. I did fight with a fantastic level of power. I thought of the impossible, so perhaps something did break inside me, not that I would be able to tell.
"Lady, Yoimiya, the representative from the holy church of the World voice, wants to speak with you." One of the maids interrupts my peaceful walk through the garden with bad news of another church guy wanting to convince me to become their weapon.
I swear, no one wants me because I'm cute or likable but simply because I'm powerful. What a joke of an association. At least Lord Auri is not very subtle about his intentions, but these church guys make me mad, trying to mask their greed behind words salads.
"Fine, I'll give them an audience here; please bring them here."
"As you wish, Lady, Yoimiya." The maid leaves with my orders after bowing to me with such antics I feel like vomiting; I still can't get used to people bowing to me like I'm special or something.
Since there's not much else to do in the garden while one awaits their guests, I simply start messing with the flowers, picking a couple of them from the garden to put on my hair and some others on my clothes like little ribbons so I don't get bored to death.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
I get so into it that I fail to notice the presence of the assailants once they get near me and find me modeling my new flower additions to my dress and hair. {Fake cough from a guy} "You look great with those on, Saint Yoimiya."
The sudden, deep voice of a man startles me a little, but I do not react too surprised so as not to look like a scaredy cat. Instead, I hold off on my intense feelings, scream, and turn them into pleasant greetings using the power of temperance.
I don't exactly know why, but I can control my reactions a little more if I want to with this skill or power of temperance. I guess it makes sense if I think about it hard enough, but it would not be the time to space out, so I must come up with a quick response.
"Greetings, dog of the church; I believe you asked for an audience with me." EEEKKK! I can't believe my lips! I can't believe I was able to call this guy for what I thought he was, just another church dog who wants me as their holy weapon or something.
To my surprise, the representative didn't get mad, nor did he look insulted or startled by my aggressive behavior toward him. "I believe that I speak on behalf of the church when I say that we are indeed very sorry we started on the wrong foot; you absolutely have the right to view us in such a bad light after our first wave of representatives."
"What is that you want? If it's to join you, forget it. I would never join you." This time, the representative looked surprised at my confession, like he would've expected me to accept his fake apology at face value. Soon, the guards nearby start walking toward us, preparing to kick the church messenger and his guards out of the garden.
"But, you haven't even heard the pope's offer! I promise we have a lot for you! Please hear me out!" My guards soon start looking at me and then at the messenger. Ultimately, I raise my hand to stop my guards from removing the church guy for now. "Speak."
"His Excellency the Pope has authorized me! His private messenger! We have the authority to grant you any wish you may ask of us! ANYTHING YOU WANT WE SHALL GIVE YOU!" How wrong this pope guy was; how hypocritical of him to try and recruit a witch after what he did.
OK then, if they really want me to ask for whatever I want, I want to ask for one thing. "I'd like the head of the church. I demand the head of the pope." The messenger's eyes widened as I lowered my hand to signal to my guards a removal of the scum next to me.
"Why are you like this? How the hell did someone so evil ever get a holy title!" The messenger angrily spits on my dress, only serving to prove my point, but I guess I should tell him why I hate the church the most.
"You all act like you don't still have a hunt decree over the head of any remaining witch, I may be small, but I know of all the things you people are guilty of; I would never work with lying fake scum like you." After the rude spitting over me, the guards quickly showed the church messengers the way out of the mansion.
"Lady, Yoimiya, your dress!"
"It's OK, I'll clean it in my room. Please alert me whenever Lord Auri feels better. I have a feeling war with the church may be inevitable."
"As you wish, Lady, Yoimiya."
