"So you think that allows you to mess with time and reality itself, bending the laws of nature to your benefit?" The creature who appeared out of the dark fog suddenly accused the Witch Queen of bending the rules of nature, which only confused me even more. Weren't those events just my memories? Had it all actually replayed in real-time?!
"Oh, like you're the one to talk, Uriel; I thought you guys were forbidden from reincarnating people after the incident from last time." The Witch Queen responds with such a cheeky tone and attitude that it just makes the whole thing seem like a poorly written-comedy. Ahaha, get it? Because we are in a comedy bit and it's Rumiko who wrote it, sorry :c
"Fair enough, Witch, I will let you off the hook if you promise not to tell the big guy I broke the rules again." The thing called Uriel seems all docile and ready to negotiate with the Queen, which only makes me even more terrified of her. Hadn't she died centuries ago already? How was she still around? Was she so powerful that even when she died, she could keep on living?!
"No problem, Uriel, I will keep your secret safe. Just one last thing, did you reincarnate this fella before they became Christopher?" The Witch Queen pats my head as soon as she mentions me clearly wanting to get information from the Demon Uriel.
"They had never been reincarnated before; there was no trace of it when I pulled away their soul." The demon Uriel looks confused and also a little perplexed, but everything seems to clear up once the Witch Queen shows her my forgotten suppressed memories of the 1930s.
"There might be more like you in the lord's house or someone capable of doing what you guys do, but better and more discreetly since not even I can find out who reincarnated them the first time." The Witch Queen tells this to the Demon Uriel, who nods along until he declares his statement.
"I will have to look into that. It's very possible I've been set up, damn it!" The demon Uriel soon vanishes into ashes, finally leaving me alone with the Witch Queen one last time as we float through an empty void of space with me just standing there confused about everything.
"Say, little one, do you think you're up to the task of trying to match or surpass my power?" The Witch Queen asks me directly while she continues to pat my head, yet I don't have a clear answer for her. Was I really committed to this new world and actually taking over such an important position, or was that the system's holy power that had shaped my mind?
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
"I don't know," I respond to the Witch Queen, who takes her hand off my head as she quickly fires back at me. "What is it that stops you from doing so? Is it the fact you seek a different life?" The Witch Queen asks me another one of those questions that hit me deep in my heart, suddenly changing my shape to that of Yoimiya's.
"I just don't know if this is what I genuinely want or if it's the consequence of the holy titles changing my train of thought. I feel like I'm being forced to accept it because that's what a saint would do, but I'm no saint. I'm not a clearly good person; I'm just morally neutral."
The Witch Queen raises her eyebrows for a couple of seconds before analyzing me once again just to answer me with a crud, nonchalant answer. "I get it, but fear not, for you are not compromised. You couldn't unlock the cursed series when you wanted to because all your souls shared one thing in common: you're all naturally driven to do good."
"Naturally driven?" I ask the Witch Queen back, and she quickly fires back. "Yes, usually such botched reincarnations where souls merge all end up badly, but you're somehow fine because neither of your souls is willing to fully suppress the others, instead choosing to work together. It's like all of you three fused to give birth to a 4th person who is the current you."
I stared back at the Witch Queen, confused and perplexed on purpose because I hadn't understood everything she had said. So I was three people all at once, and neither of them at the same time?! What the fuck!? How was I meant to cope with that fact? Was there anything I could do to make things right? You know, separate my souls and rebirth them into new bodies so they could all live happy lives?
"I know what you're thinking, and all I will say before you decline the offer again is that your idea would require an immense amount of power, which the crown could help you reach faster." The Witch Queen hit me right where my weakness was, leaving me with no option but to accept her offer.
"I accept to be your successor for the good of these souls who I must free from this endless emotional limbo; I owe it to them." The Witch Queen looks at me happy while she writes something on my forehead with her fingernails that could write on me for whatever reason.
"Good then; from now on, I will accept and pass your first audit so that you might officially be declared Witch Princess. I will audit you again once you're ready to become Queen." The Witch Queen places her hand on my head next, finally throwing me back to my new world, where my soul crashes into my unconscious body in the middle of a room.
"Oh my god!" I scream as soon as I wake up in the real world inside my actual feeling bleeding body while Veronica sleeps in a chair next to me, clearly tired of looking out for me for what looked to be a couple of days. I had no idea how long I had been out, so I couldn't tell.
