Chapter 36: The Phoenix VS The Raven

Chapter 36: The Phoenix VS The Raven

{Heavy violence - Musashi Project}

[Sage mode overdrive]

"What the hell?" That is the first thing that comes to mind as soon as I realize the fight against Yoimiya wouldn't be so easy. I'm sure she's already out, but her body is still standing and preparing to attack me once again. I can read her mind, and it's empty right now, meaning she is unconscious.

The fact of the matter is that her losing her thoughts just made my job a lot harder; perhaps it was a bad idea to try and knock her lights out after all, old man. "Subject of unknown capabilities now evaluating fighting pattern." I recognized that voice, but it couldn't be.

The voice coming from within the possessed Yoimiya is the one from the world system. I'm confident, but that means that, uh!? No way I have to find a way to immobilize her without killing her. It's like asking for a paper boat not to get wet when placed on the water.

No matter now, I've got to control this little monster and then contain it somehow; that's simple enough. As long as I have the stamina to burn, I've got the upper hand. The power and speed of this girl, however, is absurd even for a prodigy of a royal family; she's far beyond the power of many kings and queens already.

Just like I guessed back in town, at first glance, I could tell this child was powerful and dangerous. Imagine if I could manage to train her to be more manageable, and she ended up working for my army. My nation would be truly unstoppable. Not even the church would dare try invading us.

If you're curious what the beef between my nation, the nation of flame, and the church is, it's quite simple. The country of flames worships an ancient goddess, one of the ancient mythical beasts of the past, who's said to have been born here.

Obviously, the fact that the people of this land don't all worship the world religion creates conflicts with basically every surrounding nation, especially the church states. The only reason we've never been invaded yet is because of the three major houses of the country of flames.

There's House Wesson, the strongest, most prosperous house that controls vast territories with military and economic power. House Micho controls and develops new technologies, keeping our armies up to date. Finally, House Stark rules over the borderlands while also controlling vast parts of the food produced and exported to other countries.

Out of all of the Houses of the land of fire, House Wesson has ruled over for a long time now due to our highly sought-after warriors who always manage to lead our armies to victory; thus, we control and take over the majority of the collected taxes from the people.

"Preparations complete, now launching an assault against the unknown, unpredictable enemy." I almost forgot about the upcoming fight against my most recent ace in the hole for a while there. I really shouldn't take this too lightly, or I will end up six feet underground.

{Shosh}

I see what Yoimiya was trying to do because she was too obvious with her movement, but even so, she moved way too fast even for me to completely duck out of the way of her first kick after passing out. Thus, her launching kick grazes my forehead, leaving a painful red spot all over my face.

Yoimiya doesn't control her body well, so she just crashes behind me against the ground, but when she does, the ground explodes with such violent power that it creates a crater the size of a small carriage. Yoimiya wasn't holding back, as I could see if that kick connected, it would've hurt a lot.

I need to focus on her, so don't mind if I stop the geographic lesson in the middle of it. I will explain it to you all later. Right now, I must focus, or this brat will seriously injure me. Now that I've regained my focus, I look over at the dust cloud created by the crash, but I don't see the kid anywhere near, nor can I sense her close to me.

"DIE" Is what I hear right behind me, and as soon as I turn back, I see Yoimiya's charged punch going straight for my gut. I can't avoid the punch, much less stop it entirely, so I just brace myself for it and take it, which was a terrible mistake. I couldn't believe it. Her strength was genuinely amazing yet terrifying.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

"AHHHHHHG!" My armor doesn't even resist half of the punch before the metal breaks and melts, leaving my abdomen open where the hit lands with shocking power. Luckily, I already had the flames of the Phoenix activated; otherwise, her punch would've been lethal.

Like you might've expected, her punch did penetrate my body, but it was only met with deep burning fire, causing her to flinch back to try and put the fire out. "You are the first one to damage me this badly. Unfortunately, it won't do much for you as you can see, I'm but flames at the moment! You can't really hurt me right now!"

My body quickly regenerates with blazing flames, closing the stomach wound in no time, giving the illusion that I'm fine, yet every show of strenght comes at a price. I must end this quickly because I can't take many of those anymore. Just healing from that wound alone took a massive chunk of stamina.

{Absolutio Absoluta Absolutissime - Dimeng Yuan}

"Blazing flames! Phoenix amplifier! BURN!" I've got to stop her quickly, or everyone will be in deep trouble, so forgive me, master, but I must! I know it's a forbidden style, but this calls for it! My body reacts to my commands, recalling every bit of stamina I've stored away within trinkets near my house.

Without much thought and knowing that I'm burning precious stuff every second I run on this fuel, I don't plan on holding back anymore now, taking the fight to the rogue Yoimiya and surprising her with my increased levels of speed.

First, I fiercely throw a left hook at her face, but she defiantly redirects some of the punch's power back at me with her right hook against my abdomen again. I brush off the pain to continue mercilessly attacking her, but it gets me nowhere.

Yoimiya is slowly able to block most of my punches with her hands, and even the hits I land don't seem to bother her too much. I know I'm hitting her little body with my most potent punches to date because of the incredible air currents created by our clash, yet it has done nothing so far.

The air currents created by our fight soon start demolishing the trees nearby as well as the grass from the ground. Come on! Surrender already, Kid! There must be a way to defeat this kid. I doubt she has much fuel left in the tank, right? There's no way she can keep this for much longer!

"Wesson style! Phoenix stance!" A familiar voice brings back hope, the voice of an angry master who soon shows off his perfected phoenix control. Master might be old and may also control power from the system, but why do you think I keep calling him "master."

"Help me out with your kid, will you!? I knew she would be strong being your kid, but she's giving me trouble." Master only laughs at my words while cracking his neck, soon taking his armor and shirt off, revealing his highly war-torn body with many marks of old fights and cuts all over him.

"Auri! Let's do the Phoenix Dance against this cocky child!" Well, with another Phoenix user with me, I could now do that. I'd forgotten entirely there were combined attacks. I guess the bad thing about being a complex technique user is that many choose not to use it. After all, the Phoenix power from the Wessons requires a heavy price and sacrifice.

"Reconfiguring! New enemy detected! New strategy! UH!?" Without thinking, I start the phoenix dance with my master, not allowing the kid to have a breathing moment to readjust to us combining forces. The dance of the Phoenix is usually a technique only reserved for people you must kill, yet the kid doesn't seem to receive much damage even with the two of us pummeling her.

"I'm running out of fuel! WE MUST END THIS NOW! I CAN'T KEEP THIS UP!" I shouted out to my master, knowing full well my reserves of stamina were about to all burnout, and that master was also old and hadn't used the phoenix power for a long time; he would also soon run out of fuel.

"I know! I'm also not used to this all of a sudden! MY BODY CAN'T TAKE THIS AS IT USED TO!" Suddenly, Yoimiya just started fighting back, leaving her defensive-like stance and taking the hope out of my eyes. Was the kid growing stronger mid-fight? What the hell!?

{Minute 1:45}

First, an extremely powerful direct against my master sends him flying against the ground behind us, probably taking him out for good. Then, a second powerful strike against me sends me back, flying even further away as if she had reserved her strenght to use it all against me instead of her father.

I've got no more fuel in the tank from the trinkets, so that last punch does severe damage, yet the kid still comes after me, causing me to start consuming my stamina just to avoid being killed by her rage. The kid doesn't seem tired at all and even shows off her massive power by throwing huge balls of concentrated magic against me.

All I can do is jump back and to the sides of the ground, avoiding her attacks as much as I can until she flies down and starts walking toward me just to show me the size of her power against my own in a crushing revelation of power. I stand in fear as she looks at me with her death stare and reveals a crushing ball of darkness behind her.

Her eyes filled with that dark power that distorts even my vision, yet this is all she managed to do before collapsing onto the ground. Her last words were, "Available power consumed energy depleted cannot keep powering sage mode, deactivating sage mode. Mission failed."
