"Looks like you're in trouble," A voice nearby reminds me of someone, yet I cannot remember who it was until I turned around to look at the beautiful elf killer, Okina. The look in her eyes told me everything; she had seen it all and was waiting to intervene at the very last second.
"Run!" All the goblins suddenly stopped trying to hurt me, and as soon as they recognized the lady who had a very sharp and wide smile on her, it honestly made me question if I was part of the villain side of the story with a teammate who looked like she did.
"Mana flow, third movement! Windblades of hell!" Okina casts a spell or skill that I had never heard in a way I had not seen before. 'Mana flow'? What could that magic be? Whatever the case might've been, the skill was clearly meant for AOE damage as the blades she summons divide multiple times until there are ten of them.
Once the wind blades divide into ten, these same blades fly forward, chasing down the fleeing goblins. The goblins try their best to evade the blades or fight them off, but they all are eventually pierced through with the blades from the spell-like they didn't even stand a chance, to begin with.
"Sorry about those goblins. We usually purge them before they get too close, but we missed a couple during our last patrol." Okina calmly taps my head to comfort me now that she completely erased the goblins who tried to commit what looked like sexual assault on me. Oh man, I can already see rule 34.
"You guys purge them?" I ask back at Okina since that bit of information did seem important as I myself am a goblin in nature.
"Yes, goblins are pests, like cockroaches or rats. If you let them spread and grow, they will eventually overwhelm your territory; luckily, they are all low intelligence, so their magical powers and weapons are much inferior to ours." Okina said right to my face as if trying to imply something. Had she seen something under my skirt or something while I was fighting?!
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I ask back at her, followed by her quick response when she knees me with so much strenght it knocks all the air out of my lungs, followed by a weird feeling inside me which feels warm and strange.
"You're radiating cursed mana, just who are you really? No simple elf girl radiates so much cursed mana like that." Okina mentions once again, and to her credit, the flame I felt before did seem to calm down again once she hit me with her power, but why would I be radiating this 'cursed mana' as she put it, and why didn't the others notice?
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
"How could you tell?" I ask Okina, who proceeds to apply healing magic on me, slowly closing up my wounds and scratches.
"I have a keen sense for things like mana and magicules. I can see it all too well with my elemental sight." Okina points out to her left eye, which suddenly changes colors from deep green to gray, followed by another change into a dark void of nothing.
"What is that?! What's wrong with your eye!?" I ask Okina, who laughs at my question, thinking it is something to laugh about, and then her eyes return to normal.
"It's the advanced version of the skill 'magical sense,' it's quite useful if you don't have the skill appraisal, and it's also much faster at gauging your opponent's raw power." There she was again, that damned appraisal skill I had heard of so much already; just how cracked would that even be!?
"You know a lot about skills and magic! It's amazing! Could you teach me?!" Okina quickly walks a little away from me as soon as I throw my question at her, followed by a quick but straightforward. "No, thank you."
"I'm not a good teacher, and besides, I find kids quite annoying if I'm honest with you." Okina's words are quite relatable to me; of course, nobody would accept a student like that. What was I thinking? But just when I had lost all hope, a voice reopened the conversation.
"Oh, come on, babe, if you are to be a mother with me, then you have to start liking kids at some point, don't you agree?" Another gorgeous beauty says from behind both Okina and me, and by the look on Okina's face, it was somebody she clearly liked.
"Ariel!? What are you doing here!? I thought you would sell some Okonomiyaki's in the town's square." A little ashamed, Okina now suddenly tries to hide behind me as if she has something to hide. The Okonomiyaki thing did cause me some curiosity, even if the drama didn't; how come they knew of a Japanese dish and even pronounced it like we did!?
"And you were supposed to help me with it this time, did you forget?" The newly introduced Ariel looked like a vein would pop out of her forehead any second now, and to my surprise, Okina used me as an excuse like a little runt! How could she use me as a shield?! I've got my ass kicked already! You deal with your problems on your own!
"I didn't. I just had to accompany this little fella out here to collect something!" Okina hugs me even closer as I try to run away from her, seeing how Ariel wants to use whoever she comes into contact with as a punching bag.
"Don't try to hide behind the child! You owe me this, so come with me now!" Ariel, surprisingly enough, does not hit or punch me but instead reaches for Okina's ear to pull her away like a little kid. "Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!" Okina makes some cute noises as her girlfriends pulls her away with her now begging for my help, ha! Like I would!
I didn't want to mess with someone who could overpower a monster like Okina like that, no sir! I might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but even I know that! Still, it is pretty interesting to find out that there's a trendy version of a Japanese dish here deep inside the witch forest.
I had to try it at some point and also maybe even question Ariel herself to see if I could get any information on where she learned that dish and its name. It could be possible that other reincarnations have already lived in this world far before me, and so it could help me figure out my potential.
