John lost consciousness.
But Puppa remained conscious.
John's body began to change.
It shifted into that of the monsters he had seen.
His facial structure changed into that of a voodoo mask.
His organs which had reached fusion dissolved.
He became an entity made of energy.
In this body.
His eyes sunk into themselves and dissolved.
Then a blue glow lit up as he saw what was in front of him.
His body was wrapped in cloth.
Like a mummy.
His head was like the skeleton of a bird.
He looked at his hands and spoke.
"Mfaefae!"
He could feel that the control of this body was weaker.
He began to patrol the streets against his will.
There were other monsters just like him patrolling.
He couldn't help but think.
"So this is their origin?"
He forcefully took control of his body again.
Then he walked slowly out of the city.
He didn't know if he was even in the same world anymore.
But his interest was piqued.
He tried to warp his body back into his human form.
There was a bit of resistance.
He scanned this body on a microscopic level.
He saved the blueprint of it in his mind.
"How interesting... no organs at all. No blood either."
"There isn't even a brain!"
He had gained some insight from looking at the structure of his body.
He kept the look for now.
But this form he had acquired could be a transformation.
He looked at the portals again.
"Do I want to go for another round?"
He dismissed the thought.
He had already probably entered another world.
The last world he was in he had explored for centuries.
There was a bit of strangeness.
But the path forward was cut off.
But he was likely in another world now.
There was also his other body Puppa.
In the cultivation world.
He was a bit excited.
He then felt a order in his mind.
'Return to the Nexus'.
He felt compelled to go back through the portal.
He resisted this urge.
This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
The monsters returned from where they came.
He looked around at the corpses and made sure no-one was around.
He then shifted into his human form.
Well he tried to.
This body had been completely contaminated.
There wasn't any blood or organs left in it.
It was basically a skeleton.
His bones warped.
But he remained a skeleton.
No matter how hard he tried...
He couldn't return to his human form.
In his hollow eyes a blue light lit up.
"Have I completely lost my ability to regenerate?"
He tested his abilities on Puppa's end.
But they remained normal.
He could shift his flesh easily.
"It seems something is wrong with this body."
His skull now looked human.
Instead of the skull of a bird.
He found a pond outside the town.
He looked at his reflection.
"I look like a lich!"
He hoped there wasn't liches in this world.
And if there was, he hoped they weren't hunted.
He tried to create clones to explore this world.
But when he ripped off his finger.
He wasn't able to feel any connection with it.
"Do I only have one life in this world?"
Without blood he was put at a severe disadvantage.
His blood explosion wouldn't work.
He also had to be careful not to get captured.
Otherwise he may really end up locked up...
He reattached his finger back to his hand.
"My clothes have changed as well..."
He was wrapped in cloth scrolls...
There was also patterns on these.
But it looked tattered and dusty.
He ripped some of the cloth and wrapped it around his face hiding it.
He looked back at the town he had walked out from.
But it was covered in fog.
A group of knights on horses approached him.
"You survived the catastrophe? Can you tell us what happened?"
"We aren't able to recover the bodies in the fog. This was a huge loss."
John coughed.
He realized he was indeed in a new world now.
There certainly weren't knights in his last world.
"Everything was burnt to ashes, portals opened up and monsters invaded the town. Everyone was killed. I was horribly disfigured from the flames myself..."
One of the knights put their hand on John's shoulder.
"I'm sorry for your loss, if only we got here sooner. Maybe we could of saved some of them."
"You made it out though! This is god's blessing. You may be hideous from your injuries, but you must learn to embrace your new look!"
The knight ripped off the wrapping on his head with good intentions.
"..."
"Monster!"
John sighed.
"It looks like you all have to die..."
They surrounded him.
These were grandmaster knights.
Their strength was insane.
Far higher then John's original strength.
But John wasn't exactly human right now.
His body was magical.
Their attacks bounced off his body as if they were attacking a steel wall.
He did not even move.
"Interesting... it seems I take no knockback!"
He killed every single knight.
He then took their armor.
He was completely covered in iron armor now.
His face was now shielded.
"Surely, now my identity as a monstrosity won't be exposed."
He jumped on a horse and began to ride away.
----------------------------------------
Meanwhile Puppa found a town and began to perform operation phoenix.
What was this?
It was his signature move!
The steps were simple.
Grind a random low level job for a few years.
Save all of that money.
Visit the black market.
Have a fake identity made.
Marry a random.
Have a child that is yourself.
Then have generations pass quietly as you explore the world as if you are a normal person.
That way if someone does research on you.
You have an origin and didn't just appear out of nowhere.
Things were going well...
----------------------------------------
John was in a cave meditating.
Ever since he had run into that entity in the chaos realm.
The tree in his sea of consciousness hadn't stopped shaking.
Black leaves were falling.
There were cracks on the branches that had shielded him.
In his mind.
He pinched his fingers.
This was all a mental construct.
Blood flowed feeding the tree.
It began to repair itself.
The roots squirmed and followed the path of the blood.
Invading his body.
He started to get flashbacks of the supreme beings upbringing.
Most of the memories were useless.
He let himself get contaminated by the supreme beings imprint.
At least partially.
As he had already let one of his bodies get contaminated by that foreign energy from when he went through that door to exit the chaos realm.
This was a bit more dangerous though.
It was his entire consciousness after all.
He didn't happen to have any spares.
But he remembered how the tree protected him.
Surely it wasn't entirely malicious... right?
There were so many memories though... millions of years worth.
So he decided to settle down in this cave and spend a few centuries digesting them.
Meanwhile... while he did that, he could have Puppa's descendants look for a fairy fate.
He sealed the cave.
Then got in his meditation pose.
His eyes lit up with blue light as he emersed himself in the memories of the supreme being.
----------------------------------------
Puppa didn't really need to argue with his wife about what to name his son.
He told a made up story about how his father's name was John.
That he was willing to do all the house chores for life if he got to name his son after his father.
Thus John was born again!
He planned to use this logic repeatedly.
He would name his son something random.
Like 'Rob' for robot.
Then he would use the excuse of honoring his father or his grandfather.
Naming every other child John.
Destinatus naturally was his last name consistently.
Many generations passed.
He eventually ended up on accident having additional children that weren't him.
He raised these with no problem though.
They were always scared of his other ontology though.
Even though he was their brother.
They felt some invisible pressure
They also thought he was a bit eccentric.
Behaving nothing like a child.

Leo's POV:
I was playing with my friends outside the village.
We decided to play hide and seek.
I fell down a ditch.
I could see gaps in a boulder.
It was wide enough for me to squeeze in.
"Best hiding spot!"
I looked around, this could be a great secret base!
I then see something weird.
"What is that?"
I walk towards a rusted suit of armor.
"Cool!"
I then notice that its eyes are glowing...
