John had his experimental body lay down on his bed.

Before having it lay down completely, he handed it the medium that wasn't yet enchanted.

He then had it chant:

"Esteemed Creator Aternaz, father of formations. Birther of the One, the Two, and the Three. Wielder of Cultivation, King of The Ten thousand Things! I Pray to you!"

The ring lit up and was enchanted.

This body had tapped into the matrix on its first attempt! It was now an acolyte.

He took out the reactive elixir and had that body drink it.

In the brain a core was forming along with a focus.

The breakthrough wasn't over yet. But John made sure to save this state of his body. So he could forcefully trigger the same state without using a reactive elixir.

Now it was time for the first layer to go over the focus.

John inscribed 'Hellfire Safeguard' over the first layer.

No magic shield had yet appeared even though the spell model was inscribed.

He needed the blessing of Mer for it to be able to get mana from the matrix.

Luckily, he had left a back door for himself.

He soon noticed a magic shield was covering the experimental body.

He had the experimental body stand up. He then punched it with all of his strength.

Red fire appeared cancelling out the force.

"First Seal... OPEN!"

John punched it again.

This time the experimental body caught his punch in his hand.

He didn't even move a single step back.

"Alright. Second Seal. OPEN!"

John was now a hundred times stronger. He sent out a punch.

But it was caught again.

"Impressive."

"Third Seal. OPEN!"

He was now 500 times stronger. He sent a punch. The other body caught it. But its feet dug into the ground as it was pushed back.

The fire shield on its body began to crack.

"Fourth seal. OPEN!"

He was now a thousand times stronger.

He sent out a punch, it was caught by the other body. But the shield instantly broke.

The force of the punch had tore up the ground.

John then noted down a weakness. Once the shield is broken. It will damage the core of the mage. Cracks had appeared on the core in his brain.

He was then pleasantly surprised. He could heal the core using his immortality!

Not only did the shield break. His arm on the other body had minor breaks in the bone.

"Without the support of mortal martial arts. It would seem an official wizard is a bit weaker then foundation establishment. But their defensive ability is actually not bad at all. It can easily withstand 500 tons of force before breaking."

The other bodies arm regenerated in an instant.

He then had the other body punch with its full force into his hand.

"Hmm... it seems transforming into an official magus didn't increase the strength. It still hits with about a ton of force. I imagine spells will be more important for fights between mages over hand to hand combat."

The experimental body was then turned into energy as it was sucked into its soul like a blackhole sucking in light. The soul then vanished, removing all traces of its existence.

John then created a fresh soul and had a body form.

He didn't bother making it an acolyte again. He went directly to official magus!

This time he used the blueprint acquired from the last body forming a magic core. He then used a modified version of the rank 1 spell model.

What did he name this spell?

He named it 'Spatial Body'. He was trying to make a spatial passive spell that would work for him. He had used his knowledge on teleportation and knowledge he had learnt from the library.

He failed... the other bodies core shattered killing it.

It took him 50 attempts to properly create the spell model. It was a lot of trial and error.

He then noticed a problem.

"My spell will be recognized..."

He then had a genius idea.

John remembered how he had disguised his soul by putting a fake mortal soul over it.

Why not have two spells on a single layer?

Soon John went to work.

200 attempts later, he saw results. The spell he created was 'Spatial Body'. But it looked like Hellfire Safeguard. Because, in truth. It was!

He had successfully combined two rank 1 spells together on the first layer of one of his experimental bodies.

He then had them enchant the cores using his custom prayer.

Fire shot out cancelling some of the force and the shield began to crack. But instead of it shattering. John's fist flew through his body as if it didn't exist.

He had activated the hidden spell in his core!

This was a hidden passive spell! Due to his immortality, he could manipulate the magic core.

This meant, he would have no issues with spell compatibility later.

Hellfire Safeguard created a shield of fire protecting the user.

Spatial Body created a sort of space field around the body that would make attacks go through the user.

This meant. Even if he opened up all his seals and punched. He wouldn't be able to damage someone with spatial body. This was a legendary spell.

Although there were real weaknesses.

It only could block physical attacks. Energy attacks wouldn't get displaced.

John would likely need to get to rank 2 to be able to upgrade Spatial Body.

But that is where Hellfire Safeguard came into place. It could block energy attacks. Up to a certain point.

Both spells required mana to block. Something he couldn't generate even with his immortality. So if he was bombarded with enough physical attacks even using Spatial Body. It would eventually have to go on cooldown.

Seeing that there were no issues.

John closed his seals.

John then ignited his body. Triggering the same response as taking a reactive elixir.

He then formed a magic core in his brain along with a focus.

He inscribed both Spatial Body, and Hellfire Safeguard on the first layer.

He then spoke:

"Esteemed Creator Aternaz, father of formations. Birther of the One, the Two, and the Three. Wielder of Cultivation, King of The Ten thousand Things! I Pray to you!"

His magic core was successfully enchanted!

Hellfire Safeguard activated right away.

He did tweak the spell a tiny bit.

It now used blue flames instead of red flames.

"I have become an official magus!"
