Chapter 14: Inheritance

Chapter 14: Inheritance

John didn't have any friends in the sect. He was mentally many centuries old. So he didn't connect well with the groups he should of got along with. This displeased the others in the outer sect.

In the outer sect, everyone knew and helped each other out.

They formed their own cliques and groups.

It was well known that John was a cultivation maniac.

Someone who cared for nothing else besides cultivation.

"Does he think he's better then us?"

The vast majority of those in the outer sect were mortals with spiritual roots. Or those in the Qi Condensation realm.

Upon building a foundation, only then would someone be able to move into the inner sect.

"It took him only half a year to break into Qi condensation. He also has low grade spiritual roots of an uncommon element. Let alone breaking through, he should of never even been able to stimulate his spiritual roots without a treasure. I think he's hiding something!"

"What is there to hide? He is a trash from a servant family. His father and mother are both mortals. He is extremely lucky to have even been born with spiritual roots in the first place. I expected it to take him most of his life to even activate them."

"Don't you guys think his temperament is a bit weird? He's only 10 years old, you would think he would be depressed all alone by himself doing nothing but cultivating all day. Yet he acts like an eccentric expert who has seen the vicissitudes of life."

"Bullshit! What sort of expert could he be? He's just an antisocial little shit."

John didn't even realize that he had unknowingly made some enemies.

He continued to cultivate.

The progress was slow due to his low grade spiritual roots. But to him, his progress seemed lightning quick.

A decade passed...

He was completely shunned and talked about by the whole outer sect.

They couldn't believe that he had been alone for a decade in his room. Only daring to come out to eat occasionally and fetch his monthly allowance.

"Does he not need stimulation? His life is worse then that of those in prisons! He does nothing but cultivate all day. I've only seen this behavior in core formation experts! Perhaps he is the reincarnation of an ancient cultivator!"

During this decade, John had reached the upper realm of Qi condensation.

He spent nearly every minute cultivating. Even going without sleep for years. His other bodies could restore his mental energy either way.

He had unblocked nine meridians.

Those were the right hand, left hand, right foot, left foot, circulatory system, heart, stomach, bladder, and he had even found a hidden meridian in his liver. This allowed his max meridians to jump from thirteen to fourteen.

He only had five other meridians to unblock. Those were the lung, spleen, kidney, small intestine, and large intestine.

He expected to reach the peak of Qi condensation in another decade.

But his peaceful life of cultivation was forcefully interrupted.

A bell sound was ringing for all to hear.

This was the summons bell, it was the first time he was hearing it.

This body was only 20 years old. But during its entire life, he had never heard this sound. He only knew what to do because of various experts explaining while teaching.

He left his room and headed to the center of the sect.

It was quite crowded, this was the first time he ran into inner sect disciples.

He could now feel the aura of foundation establishment on them.

Hadn't he killed a foundation establishment cultivator in the past? It had been a tough fight though. He had to rely on the surprise of his immortality and his ability as an energy drawing expert.

If the foundation establishment cultivator hadn't had their guard down, he would of been in trouble.

John couldn't wait to reach foundation establishment!

This was also the first time he was seeing the patriarch.

He was flying in the sky above the crowd of people.

His voice boomed.

"I know all of you are wondering what serious matter has happened to use the summoning bell, which we hardly ever use. I have some good news mixed with bad news. The inheritance of a true immortal has been found in the surrounding area."

Everyone gasped. A true immortal? Who didn't know what such an existence meant. Cultivation had realms, you had Qi Condensation, Foundation Establishment, Core Formation, Nascent Soul, Spirit Severing, and True Immortal.

A true immortal had an endless lifespan, and could split mountains and part the ocean with a wave of their hands.

One hadn't been born in millions of years.

This wasn't due to lack of geniuses, it was because a true immortal put too much pressure on the world. So only a certain amount could exist at the same time. Although their lifespan was said to be endless. The soul would collapse after millions of years.

There were ways to get around the soul collapsing though.

The one most commonly used by true immortals was reincarnation.

Once they reincarnated and started over, they would lose their cultivation, but would retain all of their memories. They would also have an extremely powerful soul. They could follow this cycle forever, living for millions of years, then reincarnating.

Their soul would refresh and would no longer collapse for millions of years.

There were huge risk with this though. True immortals often died before they had a chance to grow up again. This is why they created inheritances near the end of their lifespan.

It wasn't for others! It was for their future self... in order to ensure that they grew up smoothly and became true immortals again.

Their immortality couldn't hold a candle to John's.

John's soul was truly eternal.

It would never collapse.

There was a system of magic in John's mind that relied on puncturing a hole in the soul to allow energy from a magic matrix to flow in. You made a chain that would hold runes. But John had to choose a different path of magic.

His soul couldn't be punctured.

It was that strong!

It was unbreakable.

"Even though a true immortals inheritance has been found, many sects are sending squads to explore it. That is not to say we aren't also extremely interested. We will be joining this raid. Everyone that is Qi Condensation or higher is to be drafted!"

People begun to murmur.

While a true immortals inheritance was tempting... nobody wanted to risk their life for something that only one person winning the lottery would benefit from.

John wasn't really worried at all.

Worst case scenario, he could discard this body. He still had a servant family. He could be reborn in the next generation.

Obviously they weren't being drafted and would be safe in the sect.

"Each team will be lead by a core formation expert. The composition of the elders in the main team will not be discussed. Do your best! Remember, if you find the entrance of the inheritance, you are to contact your superior and report it. Failure to comply and exploring the inheritance by yourself will result in death!"

John smirked.

When had he ever feared 'death'?

He already drafted a plan in his mind.

He would follow his group, but create another body with a different appearance.

He had to report what he found to his superiors, otherwise he would be killed.

But, the other body wasn't part of the sect.

He didn't have to report shit!

John planned to eat all of the benefits for himself!
