Chapter 26: Artificial Spiritual Roots

Chapter 26: Artificial Spiritual Roots

John first collected materials.

Since the source of John's magic was his consciousness. All of his bodies were capable of casting spells. So he didn't even need to make a personal trip outside the sect. He used the bodies he had placed outside in advance for building his fake inheritance. He created a wealthy scapegoat, and exchanged a single spiritual stone for hundreds of golden coins.

He then went into a town and hired the citizens to help collect materials. He paid them generously and easily collected most of the materials required for his base.

He wanted immortal grade materials for building a flying artifact that would be the foundation and ground in his pocket dimension.

But immortal grade materials were costly due to them being hazardous to acquire.

So he had to make due with mortal grade materials. He didn't use the regular runic library, he had long ago built his own version. This would be inconvenient if he planned to have others help him, but this was clearly for personal use.

He was careful to not reveal this enhanced runic library to the public. It was the key to making the fake inheritance believable. He didn't want people to link its origin back to him!

Once all the materials were gathered. He had people leave the area. He then had four bodies began to drill into the earth and lift it up like a floating island. Then he teleported a flying artifact to them. Attached the artifact to the bottom of the floating island. Then had them teleport it into the pocket dimension.

Only then did he teleport into the pocket dimension.

He noticed something right away.

There was no breathable air! The environment also lacked Qi.

An ordinary person would be screwed coming into this dimension. They would pass out and then die.

But John was anything but ordinary.

He had experienced constantly drowning, in a sense, this was far more comfortable. As he was still able to breathe in and out. He was still exhaling carbon dioxide.

Instead of passing out, he just activated his immortality. He could control his body on the microscopic level. He made sure his blood cells had oxygen and soon he felt normal.

He was on his floating island.

He began to branch out and create bridges and buildings.

Now John had a few problems. The first one was the lack of Qi in this environment. He had a few ways around this. How was he planning on saturating the environment in Qi? He planned on using multiple bodies! He had 2048 mana and 128 slots. Create Food was a tier 2 spell. He could cast it around 128 times before running out of mana. If you factored in his mana regeneration at 2000 mana an hour. He could consistently cast 125 in a loop forever.

He obviously didn't plan on doing this though. He needed to keep mana for emergencies and teleportation. So he dedicated only 512 mana to this. This was enough to feed 32 bodies food for them to generate Qi on their own.

They would be constantly eating and refining the food into Qi.

He then built a Qi dispersal formation with 32 different inputs. He had the bodies all infuse their Qi into the formation and the environment began to fill up with Qi. But he found another issue. The Qi was spreading out and dissipating.

So he built a shield generator and had a sphere barrier built around his floating island.

He had a few cores from dead cultivators that he had acquired through his connections. They pulled Qi from the environment naturally and could then power formations. He had it power the shield generator and formed a barrier around his island.

Now the Qi wasn't dissipating. It was becoming thicker and thicker with time. But while being in a thick Qi environment could speed up cultivation. It would at most help double your speed. This wasn't enough!

John planned to speed up his speed a hundred times before dedicating himself to cultivation!

So he began to the process of building his 'forbidden cultivation formation'.

When thinking about how it worked. You must understand the difference between spiritual roots. You had low grade, mid grade, high grade, and peak grade.

John initially thought of studying a dead persons spiritual roots and transforming his own. But after studying the dead body of a core formation. He found that the spiritual roots had degenerated after brain death.

So how would he get around having low grade spiritual roots? Remember how the admin ring can serve as a forbidden dao pillar? He planned to use similar logic here.

But instead of building an artificial dao pillar. The formation he was building would be an artificial spiritual root! It wouldn't be a single one either. It would be 100 low grade spiritual roots! It wouldn't be powered by the core of a dead cultivator. It was attached to the dispersal formation. It would be powered by the 32 battery bodies he had formed.

Nobody had ever been successful in making artificial spiritual roots. This was due to a few reasons. Those being the potential to make cultivation irrelevant and break down the barrier of entry. As well as the sheer complexity of remaking a spiritual root.

Nobody understood how spiritual roots worked, hell. Some didn't even know where in the brain it was located! But John was different. He had studied the small structure located in the pineal gland that he knew was the spiritual root.

After a few weeks of adjusting his program and making sure everything was perfect.

He started the formation!
