An organization called 'Deathless' appeared seemingly out of nowhere over night in the wizard world.

Nobody knew their origins. But people speculated that the came from a lower level of the world. A rank 3 challenged the organization. But was quickly dispatched by likely their leader.

Using Death's ability to teleport. Deathless operated both in the subterranean world and the surface.

John set a plan in motion for them to raid the surface, since the surface was far weaker then the lower levels.

As for the leader?

His name was 'Death'.

As for John Destinatus?

He let his organization cook.

As for what Deathless wanted? It seemed they were crazy for spell models! Normally, such an organization would be exterminated by the righteous council.

You think that would be that.

But they soon found out something quite interesting.

Everyone in Deathless was exceedingly hard to kill!

It was as if they were immortal...

Their base location was also not known.

Their escape spell seemed to be quite advanced as well. They could be surrounded or sealed, but they could vanish out of thin air.

Deathless made a grand announcement to the world.

You could join them and acquire immortality if you made a great contribution! They could even remove the contract of servitude!

As for what type of contribution? Spell models! The higher the level, the better.

John had Death act as the leader to the public.

Death was also taught the immortalize spell.

John basically didn't have to do anything. He could order his organization to raid academies.

19 rank 1's wasn't too scary in all honesty.

But 19 immortal rank 1's...

Not to mention a tier 7 mage like Death. Which was as strong as a rank 4!

This was an entirely different level of difficulty.

Not to mention. His members were anomalies. The more spells they acquired. The stronger they became as they weren't warlocks anymore. They were fully capable of having 6 passive spells.

Not to mention being able to now cast spells of their level.

Soon. John acquired a huge amount of rank 2 spells.

The members of Deathless flourished in the surface world. They were used to being dominated by people far stronger then them. But it felt like they were bullying the surface.

As rank 3 on the surface world was considered strong.

Death was strong enough to easily handle such a person.

Soon. All of the members of Deathless had filled up their spell chambers in their focus. They just needed to wait until they had 100% mana conversion, to breakthrough.

John himself had filled all three of his chambers on the second layer of his focus.

He had also replaced one of the chambers on the first layer of his focus.

He changed out mana vision since it was a useless spell in his opinion.

The spell he replaced it with was 'mind shock'.

This allowed his consciousness to attack other peoples consciousness.

His soul was unbreakable. His consciousness was quite strong

So naturally, he would overwhelm his opponents with this spell.

The three spells he filled his second chamber with were:

'Soul Tracker' - This put a beacon on the target making the user able to determine their location.

'Dream Illusion' - This put the target into a sleep and under an illusion.

'Bug Net' - As long as the target was of a lower rank. This would completely make them immobile.

Obviously, John wasn't able to use these spells yet as he wasn't rank 2. But he was able to lock in his rank 1 spells.

These were:

'Greater Hellfire Safeguard'. - Could protect against physical and magic attacks up to 500 tons of force (covered the body in blue fire).

'Spatial Body' - This could protect against all physical attacks, no limits besides the mana used.

'Energy Absorption' - This spell converted damage from energy attacks into mana that could be used.

'Body of Angel' - This spell allowed one to create their own leverage, effectively a flight spell.

'Chaos Pulse' - This created a strong impact that could send an enemy shooting far away from the user.

'Mind Shock' - Use the users consciousness to attack the consciousness of the target.

John was only at 26% conversion of his gas mana into liquid mana.

His body in the academy was still only at 5%.

As for the third layer of his focus? It became like others. It could only store a single spell.

John had acquired a rank 3 spell called 'Flash'.

This could allow the person to teleport within their sight line.

The first place John attacked with Deathless was Ignis Academy. Why? It was because he knew the rough strength of the academy. His members were also in their weakest state at that moment. Having only a single spell in their chambers.

What was this spell? It was 'Body of Angel'.

John put this up in the accumulated spell section as a freebie, so that they could have flight.

Deathless didn't disappoint him.

They also didn't realize they would also be robbing his other self.

John's 'acolyte' body that had become a rank 1 was robbed of all of his magic stones.

The academy's library was also raided and cleared out, in reality it was teleported away.

The principal put up a decent fight initially.

Until Death nearly killed him with a simple 'Blackhole' spell.

The principal then surrendered.

It was from this raid, that John acquired so many rank 2 spell models and even forced the principal to reveal his passive spell.

'Naughty Fusion' - Multiply your power by the number of bodies you've had.

"So this was the key to his strength? This also explains the whorehouse..."

John had no interest in such a spell that required one to sleep around.

He had enough of that with operation phoenix!

Calamity said he would make that his rank 3 spell model in the future.

"..."

All of the spell models they plundered were available to the 19 foundational members of Deathless. Naturally, John was able to browse these as well. It was how he got his rank 2 spell models.

But the inheritance of Ignis Academy wasn't enough to satisfy John.

Once Ignis academy went completely bankrupt.

Something strange began to happen.

Blasphemy reported to John.

"Sir... those from ignis academy wish to join Deathless! How do we go about recruiting them?"

"Did they offer new spell models?"

"No?"

"Then what is there to recruit? Unless you take an interest to one. Don't worry about it."

Soon.

Deathless began to go from academy to academy.

John had to design a mass teleport spell for Death.

Deathless would directly teleport the entire library of each academy to their stronghold!

John soon found out about a council.

There was a rank 4.

But something a bit silly kept happening when the members of Deathless were trapped or outnumbered.

They simply vanished!

The council thought they had a special teleportation spell. But in all honesty, they were just using the return rings.

These rings were quite useful and had a lot of settings. They could teleport the user to the portal room in the stronghold no matter where they were originally, it could also serve as a storage device. Not to mention basic communication. The last function was designed more so for Death.

As all members of Deathless had the network to communicate.

Soon the stronghold had a massive library.

John kept himself busy reading all the books across the surface world. He further enriched his knowledge of magic.

This was on a far more efficient level then going through a supreme beings memories!

John then found out something interesting.

Death had reported finding an interesting person.

His name was 'Xavier Muun'.

John obviously knew him from the past. He was a friend.

"You can recruit him."

John had decided to hide in the shadows when it came to Deathless. They weren't exactly upstanding members of society. It was essentially a faction that stole and killed others for personal gain.

John was the leader in the eyes of the first 20 members.

But for future members. They wouldn't know who was what or what rank the person was.

They would simply be assigned a number.

So Death was taught the immortalize spell, and had access to multiple return rings. He could also conjure the uniforms for them.

John didn't have to lift a finger.

Except for putting their souls in the deathless network.

But the energy of the rank 8's avatar in the soulverse was limited. Adding too many people to the organization would slow down everyone's rate of regeneration.

So John instead opted to not connect future members fully to the Deathless network. He would still store their souls in the cube. But they would essentially still be relying on Mer and her magic system. He would only create a connection enough for communication.

What was interesting about Xavier was that although his talent was 4. He was already a rank 2!

When the Ignis academy was getting raided. He was deeply impressed at the insane regeneration of Deathless

Now that most of Ignis academy was destroyed. He decided to join this mysterious organization.

He wasn't alone with these intentions. The difference was, John recognized him and gave him the green flag. As for everyone else? Come back with spell models!

Death teleported Xavier to the throne room as he sat upon the throne pretending to be the leader.

"What is your reason for joining Deathless?"

"I wish to become immortal! I also hear... you can get rid of the contract over my soul."

Xavier had signed a contract with the rank 3 of Ignis Academy for resources to breakthrough.

"Are you willing to dedicate your soul for eternity to our organization?"

"...eternity?"

"Even in death, those in Deathless know, no rest."

"Interesting. I accept!"

Death put his hand over Xavier's shoulder.

He then teleported him to the portal room.

Death then waited for his mental energy to recover.

Death casted Immortalize. Then told him to jump into the portal.

"Good luck."

Xavier jumped into the portal and immediately his shield started to crack.

"If this goes on. My core will be damaged!"

He unfortunately wasn't able to disable his passive spell.

The spatial fluctuations destroyed his passive spell and his magic core. His body then started to get sliced in thousands of pieces. But something nice started to happen, he began to regenerate at an insane rate!

This cycle of death and rebirth happened for a few moments.

Until he found himself on a lifeless planet.

He was a sack of flesh.

But he became normal again.

He was naked as his clothes had been torn into nothingness.

"What the hell..."

He then fell into a sleep. As John grasped his soul, moving it from the Otz room to his Infinite Maze. He placed it in the deathless network cube.

He also destroyed the contract on his soul for Ignis Academy.

Since he was a friend. He decided to let Xavier be connected to the soulverse.

John had to have all members be connected to the soulverse. But he wouldn't have all members be connected to the magic matrix in it.

This was for communication purposes and distribution of knowledge.

His core was also broken from passage to another world.

The core wasn't completely destroyed though. His conversion was still intact.

So John cut the connection he had with his body as he took over.

He then used his immortality to repair his core.

It wasn't a custom designed one with 7 chambers though.

When Xavier woke up, he was naked in the portal room.

Death spoke:

"Congratulations. You are now a part of Deathless. I hope your immortality was worth it."

Xavier soon found that he could see an interface.

He had no friends to contact though.

"Is this how we communicate? Where is everyone else?"

"I'm not in charge of the network. You are now #21. You'll be able to communicate with future members when they join."

Death conjured a set of uniforms for him and gave him a special ring.

"This is a return ring. It is a storage device, a way to return to the portal room, and a way for me to communicate with you."

"Why don't you use the network?"

Death's body hadn't completely rotted away yet. So his eye twitched a little bit.

"It's for reasons beyond your understandi-"

Mystery appeared in the portal room in a instant.

"Who is this?"

"This is #21."

"Greetings #21. I am #9. My title is Mystery."

"Title? Do I get one of those?"

"Ha... maybe in the future. Work hard!"

Mystery walked out of the room.

Xavier then asked Death.

"Are you #1?"

Death felt wronged that he was #3!

Life didn't even have any special responsibilities...

While he had to act as the leader!

"I am the founder. I am #0!"

Death lied as easily as he breathed.
