2: Chapter 24: Curse

John took a deep breath as he looked at the astral gateway in the cultivation world. How astral stones worked in the cultivation world, were entirely different then how they worked in the wizard world. In the wizard world. You used them to find other worlds.

In the cultivation world. You used them to explore the dream realm.

It was time.

John walked through the gateway.

He felt a foreign will try to morph his body. But it wasn't strong enough!

"Good. It seems he wasn't lying. A true immortal body is durable enough to resist the weirdness."

John sighed in relief.

So began his journey of exploring the dream realm!

He found a waterfall falling in reverse.

It looked beautiful.

"Amazing, isn't it?"

John looked around, but he was alone.

He couldn't tell if he had hallucinated or if someone had really said something.

So he spoke:

"Indeed."

He waited.

But he got no response.

He decided to meditate under the waterfall.

As he sat down. He began to get washed upstream from the waterfall.

He had lost control of his body! He couldn't move it despite trying everything he knew to break free.

He followed the water against his will for a few weeks.

It wasn't until he relaxed that he realized he had gained control of himself again.

"So weird."

He stepped out of the water... but he was covered in a blue film.

"What is this?"

A giant skeleton of a beast ran up to him.

"You think you can run off? You little shit!"

He picked John up against his will as he flew into the air and came to the bottom of a mountain.

There was a line of people surrounded in blue film.

"Get back in line. Don't run off again. Or I'll feed you to the Nightmares."

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

John was confused. But he nodded.

Someone patted him on the shoulder. It was a person who was behind him in line.

"You're here for the test as well?"

"Test?"

The person rolled their eyes.

Their eyes then fell out of their skulls as they opened up their mouth so wide that an entire watermelon could fit in-between.

They tried to bite John's head. But he reacted too quickly.

"One of us!"

"One of us!"

"One of us!"

Soon the eyes of all those in the line were focusing on John.

John felt danger for some reason.

He then ripped out his eyes, doing so was incredibly difficult due to the durability of his body and then he spoke looking off into the distance.

"One of us!"

Then all of a sudden.

Everyone was back to normal waiting in the line.

John was the only one who had his eyes ripped out.

He used his immortality to restore them.

He was surprised that worked.

Soon it was his turn to get tested.

"Put your hand in the liquid".

John did as he was told and felt extreme pain, unlike anything he had ever felt before.

It was as if his entire body was getting deconstructed and reconstructed. It was a magnitude higher then when he gained his body of laws!

The flesh on his hands were dissolved until all that was left was bone.

Then the blue film on his body shifted, covering his hands and restoring them.

"You pass!"

"Move along."

John took his hands out of the purple liquid.

He felt he had gained something from this. But he had no idea what.

He joined the line of the people that had passed as he heard screaming from the test site.

A child was leading his group.

He gazed at John.

"What dream node did you grow up in?"

"Dream node?"

"..."

"Whatever... not my job to care. Follow me."

Soon they were brought to a classroom.

Everyone had assigned seats.

John was surprised to see a seat with his name on it.

'John Destinatus'.

He sat down as the teacher walked in. It was a floating jellyfish.

It began to talk in nonsense.

John tried to stand up.

But he felt a sense of danger warning him not to.

So he listened to the nonsense.

For a week.

For a month.

For a year.

For a decade.

For a century.

John disconnected his private consciousness from this body. Thinking it was a lost cause.

But he noticed something weird.

Not even a second had passed for his body in the Infinite Maze!

During the process of disconnecting.

The nonsense began to become something comprehensible.

So he reconnected and made sure to keep his attention.

This 'teacher' was discussing some deep secrets.

John learned that there were nine main levels to destiny.

Normal, Extraordinary, Flawless, Perfect, Eternal, Paradoxical, Complete, Cursed, Mysterious.

He even learned that there was 'No Destiny'.

Everyone in his class had a Paradoxical Destiny!

They even 'bullied' him for merely having an Eternal destiny.

He couldn't understand their weird insults either way.

As for the teacher?

He had a cursed destiny. He had been teaching the class in a time loop since the beginning of the dream realm.

John was confused.

He remembered the teacher introducing himself.

He also remembered when he wasn't part of the class.

But then these memories became distorted.

The teacher told him to truly think. That he had also been with him since the beginning.

John then looked on in horror as he couldn't remember how he got to this class.

He couldn't remember when it had started.

It had no end!

This incompatibility between his public consciousness and his private consciousness was driving him insane. If he didn't have a private consciousness. His entire life would've been overwritten!

This place was a little scary...

The teacher continued to teach.

John learned many things.

After a thousand years. John noticed at a certain point. There was indeed a loop.

He had entered a time loop.

John had always been part of this class.

It was all he knew.

He would learn infinite knowledge forever.

The end.

"Is what you would want me to think?"

John began to wave his hands as the formations of this classroom were manipulated.

It was harder then when he tampered with Mer's formation!

Cracks formed across reality as the teacher began to scream.

"THANK YOU! I'M FREE-"

John then found himself in a daze again.

He was sitting at the desk.

The teacher was teaching.

"What the hell..."
