Right now. John wasn't a human. He may look like one. But he was a creature of the calamity realm.
He was the sole creature left outside of the calamity realm.
The word 'Emflowcreagen' would be forgotten! He could return to nothingness...
That's what he had hoped.
But instead the shackles of his concept grew stronger! He was bound even tighter to the calamity realm. He would never be able to escape.
Unless... what if he found a replacement? He just needed to trick somebody into replacing him as the concept for Emflowcreagen!
As for the authority of the calamity realm? It was shit! What was the point of having so much power when he would basically become a cold calculating machine?
John focused all his attention on the 'human' body in that world with the high time conversion.
John was still recovering from the shock that his parents had sold his pendant. That was extremely important!
"Who did you sell it to?"
His mom frowned.
"It was to one of those garbage man."
"..."
John waved his hands again trying to open up a portal.
But his concept was incapable of opening up a portal now. He was in a period of weakness. Who knew how long it would take for him to recover?
He needed to do something that aligned with his curse. Something evil. A plan began to brew in his mind.
John spoke aloud confusing his parents.
"Bye!"
He then started to fly.
His parents were shocked.
The floating islands were about a kilometer up in the sky. There was a shield covering the city. But there was a port for garbage shuttles.
John snuck into the city.
John lacked an identity. So as he was wandering the streets at night. Some officers stopped him.
You weren't allowed to roam the city at night without a pass.
He obviously didn't use the name his parents gave.
"I am John."
"John? Where are your parents? How did you you get into the city?"
They could tell he didn't belong here.
"My parents are trash scavengers. I climbed onto the garbage shuttles and held on tight. I then got off them when they entered the city."
"It is against the law for someone contaminated to enter the city."
John was annoyed. He had no easy way to get a fake identity. Not to mention, it wasn't like he could perform operation phoenix.
He used the curse of Zhaxoh to split his mind into many threads. An idea was already forming in his mind. He needed to gain a foothold.
He couldn't think of anything. Perhaps his identity as a kid could be used?
"I am not contaminated! I have always been healthy growing up. I am eight years old!"
The cop smiled.
"We are going to have to arrest you. But things aren't all bad. We'll register you an identity and have you go through the system. After serving your time for sneaking into the city. We can have you moved into an orphanage."
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"I see..."
The officers took out some energy cuffs and cuffed John. They then got into their flying shuttle and took John to the police department.
They scanned his eyes and had him register.
His name?
"John Destinatus."
He spent 9 months in jail. The entire time he was in solitary confinement due to his age. A normal person might have been mentally worse off from this. Especially someone only eight years old.
But John felt relaxed and enjoyed the cleanliness of the place. As for why he didn't use his immortality to make himself older? If he had been an adult that snuck into the city. He would definitely have been treated far differently.
The identity of a child was useful.
When John left. He was sent to an orphanage.
He also started going to school. You see. John wasn't born in the city and it was obvious he came from trash. How so? It was due to him lacking a A.I Chip in his brain. He also lacked a headjack. So he wasn't able to connect to the VR environments.
As for surgery? It was an option. But only for the wealthy. John had no backing. He had no money either.
But even having lost a lot of his memories. John was a genius! Everyone had photographic memory due to the A.I Chips. So naturally, John should of been at a disadvantage.
But he soaked up knowledge like a sponge.
He was somehow outperforming, his comprehension of the knowledge he learned as like that of a master. He did better then most kids and was going beyond college level subjects at the age of 10.
He had no resources. But due to his grades and him excelling in other activities. He was given a full scholarship that paid for everything. Including transportation, food, and a dorm.
By the time he was 12 he had gotten a degree in computer science. He had also gotten surgery adding a headjack to his spine as well as an A.I Chip to his brain.
The powerful surgical equipment proved to have no issue cutting through his skin despite his resistance and iron skin.
His abnormality was however noted in his medical records.
He got a job at a company that dealt with programming city shields. They almost didn't hire him due to a criminal record. But upon seeing his skill. They were convinced that he would be a valuable asset.
He was planning on using this position to draw the attention of the divergence department.
John now had money. He spent a lot of time in VR and read many novels on the world and ancient history.
He was looking for something specific.
"The Divergence Department."
He remembered when he had that entity bring the pendant. It had been killed by someone. He wasn't sure what group of people this person belonged to. But after searching through this worlds history. He thought that 'The Divergence Department' was the most suspicious of them all.
John had hid his abilities during his life in the city.
"They are the biggest threat."
John luckily had many blessings and curses that should nullify most dangers of the items they carried.
John read up on history. He read about the great divergence. This was when Wuji died and the connection between heaven and earth was severed.
The mortal realm and immortal realm was also cut.
John found out that he was actually in the mortal realm. This is why cultivation didn't work.
The bodies in this universe simply didn't work the same way as those in his original cultivation world. John also felt that without his artificial spiritual roots. It would take too long to cultivate to any acquire any meaningful power at a reasonable rate.
The blue prints he had went through such trouble to acquire had been mostly forgotten as well. He couldn't acquire his previous body even if he wanted to.
This entire time. John had been a law abiding citizen. But he had used his programming skills to sabotage the programs that controlled the gravity stabilizers of various cities.
John felt his concept had become too weak.
So he planned to destroy a few cities. He didn't have access to classified information. But he did have a blessing from a god. This blessing was called 'Avatar'.
It let him create a copy of his body that was fake but true. This copy could also have all his abilities. He left a backdoor through the company he worked at to sabotage multiple cities.
This was his plan to get the attention of that special department.
He was playing pretend! He had created a fake 'artifact' that was nothing but a lightshow. But he would time things perfectly using his real body.
He would make it look like his avatar was capable of casually destroying a city.
This should be enough to draw their attention. He would then get into a fight with them. Lose on purpose and be locked up.
This was all using an avatar of course.
There he could come into contact with items of weirdness!
John had already tried to apply to work for the divergence department. But it was hard to infiltrate it. He had no hope, despite being a genius. They were extremely cautious.
John picked a commission for maintenance in a city that would be safe. He then left, nothing should point the accident to him.
He was in a house he had rented.
The avatar appeared in the sky above a city.
Various news stations noticed the anomaly and recorded what happened. People were quite curious about someone capable of flying.
The avatar then pointed at the city. It shot out a beam of light that was just for show. But for some reason, the cities shield actually shattered! Light blinded everyone as the gravity control centers of the city went haywire.
Causing Explosions and the city to fall from the sky.
Over 50,000 people died just like that.
John felt a hunger deep within. He could feel that claiming so many lives had indeed sped up recovery of his concept.
No... there was something different about this. He felt as if he had grasped an opportunity! By suffering such a backlash. His concept had become weaker, but more flexible.
The rules it operated on that had seemed elusive to him before, were becoming clearer.
Perhaps there was hope for him after all!
"Let us see what tricks this department has this time!"
