A dumpster shuttle then dumped trash on him almost killing him.
"I was joking!"
John's perception of time changed allowing him to narrowly escape getting buried alive.
His dodging skills were quite impressive.
John was quite happy. He had succeeded in half of what he was trying to do. He had created a soul from scratch. Although it hadn't gone through the afterlife of this world. So he couldn't use mental magic.
But he had made an artificial source!
All he had to do was find that pendant.
He closed his eyes and focused.
The only thing that sucked was that there were infinite versions of this body.
John had acquired his immortality again. So he began to adjust the body.
He went from being malnourished to having the optimal body. His hunger completely disappeared and he felt like his willpower had once again become endless.
John was only eight years old. But he decided he wouldn't spend all his life in poverty.
John was disappointed that his cultivation techniques seemed useless in this world. He was in the mortal realm after all. So there was hardly any cultivators.
He naturally wasn't born with spiritual roots. In this world those weren't required. He could however adjust his body and recreate the three dantians and spiritual roots.
John didn't know about the immortal realm. He had chosen this world entirely because of the time conversion. Such ancient history was obviously not available to someone as low as him on the food chain.
John remembered him eating trash.
"Never again!"
The pendant was quite far away from John.
"I would be a fool not to use my realm."
So John waved his hand and a portal opened up.
It was a portal to the calamity realm! Now that he had a soul and a body. He wouldn't have to worry about dissipating upon leaving the calamity realm. So why wouldn't he use it for his convenience?
He stepped into it and saw abominations all around. They looked at him as if he was a treat.
More creatures had been born. Some didn't know about John.
John didn't feel like wasting his time. So he ignored them and vanished. He appeared in a space with a giant blue star.
There were a few reasons he had used the calamity realm.
1.) He wanted to quickly acquire his artificial source.
2.) He wondered if changes he made to his body in the calamity realm could carry over.
3.) He planned on giving him some curses to help survive in the world.
This was all a big experiment for him. It would be idiotic not to experiment.
As the blue star, John thought to himself.
"I am capable enough of creating 'The Curse of Calamity'."
"So I should be able to make other curses."
This soul hadn't gone through the severing of emotions. It was more human then John's true immortal body.
So John decided to curse the body based on various gods he had found in his calamity realm.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
John held a grand meeting with one version of every existence in the calamity realm. All that knew of him didn't dare to not show up.
It was there he met other gods that stood for various ideas.
He asked the gods to bless and curse him.
They formed a rather comical line.
John would listen to what type of curse/blessing they could provide. He would then decide based on the pros and cons.
John planned on making this body quite overpowered.
The first curse he got was:
'The Curse of πίθος'
This was a bundle of curses. Having random effects. It was mostly debuffs. There were different types of curses. You had active and passive curses.
The Curse of Calamity was a passive curse for example.
While the curse of πίθος was active. It needed to be activated.
Once activated. It would be like a box of curses had been opened all around the world. Within the range of sight of the user. Everyone would be cursed.
This could be becoming blind.
This could be becoming deaf.
This could be becoming Paralyzed.
It was an extremely brutal curse. It also affected the user of the curse. But John thought the curse was strong enough. He could rely on his other senses and surprise his enemies with it.
He didn't really see himself using the curse. But he took it either way.
John then ran into a hivemind like eldritch abomination.
The being gave him:
'The Curse of Zhaxoh'.
This was a passive curse. It split the mind into multiple personalities if the will was too weak. Luckily, John's willpower was on a completely different level. What this curse did was allow the user to see through many outcomes. It was essentially allowing the user to focus their mind on many things at once. It allowed one to think in multiple threads.
The next curse John got was from a god of love.
'The Curse of αγάπη'.
This was a passive curse. It made it so John could never truly fall in love. This also protected him from mind control, aphrodisiacs, and mental manipulation. As well as mental suggestions.
This curse did make him impotent though...
The next curse John got was from another eldritch being.
'The Curse of Madness'.
This made it so he could see through reality. Allowing all illusions to be false before his eyes. Although it made him slightly insane.
During the process of screening out blessings and curses. John ran into a curse that hyped him up quite a bit. Sure, the other curses were fine. But he felt as if this curse was made for him.
'The Curse of The Finite'
This caused the entity to be separated completely from other versions of themself.
This may not seem impressive. But this saved a lot of processing power.
John attempted to look at the matrix of the bodies history after the curse. But only a single person was pulled up, versus an infinite amount!
This was huge! This made it so the body had stepped outside of cause and effect.
He now had a soul without origin.
And a body without origin.
John continued to look for curses and blessings from these other entities.
'The Curse of Extreme Sanity'.
This balanced out with the curse of madness. Making one extremely sane. This allowed one to see things they can't see. Touch things they can't touch.
John then found a curse that would come in handy, since he lacked a nascent soul.
'The Curse of Awareness'.
This was a passive curse that made it so he wouldn't lose consciousness. It was like adding a weak spiritual sense. Even when unconscious. He would be able to see the area around his body.
Even when asleep. He would be aware. Not that he needed sleep anymore after acquiring immortality again.
John then started to look for blessings.
He accepted many. They also did not really have any downsides.
'Haste' - Increases attack speed.
'Resistance' - Increases durability.
'Night Vision' - Allows one to see in the dark with minimal light.
'Death Shield' - Fatal attacks won't kill you.
'Morph Immune' - Cannot be transformed into another thing.
'Fire Resistance' - High temperatures won't damage you.
'Instant Death Immune' - Instant Death effects won't kill you.
'Time Ward' - Timeless existence.
'Saturation' - No need to consume food.
'Flight' - Grants one the ability to fly.
'Paranormal Intuition' - Increases senses, allowing one to see the source of the supernatural.
'Ironskin' - Greatly increases the durability of the skin.
'Avatar' - Allows one to make a fake body made from information.
'Fake Death' - Allows one to stop their heart and breathing. Making it look as if the user has died.
'Strength' - Multiplies the base strength by a few times.
John then felt like he had hit a limit.
In the end, he had 'The Curse of Calamity', 'The Curse of πίθος', 'The Curse of Zhaxoh', 'The Curse of αγάπη', 'The Curse of Madness', 'The Curse of The Finite', 'The Curse of Extreme Sanity', 'The Curse of Awareness'.
As well as some minor blessings:
'Haste', 'Resistance', 'Night Vision', 'Death Shield', 'Morph Immune', 'Fire Resistance', 'Instant Death Immune', 'Time Ward', 'Saturation', 'Flight', 'Paranormal Intuition','Ironskin', 'Avatar', 'Fake Death', 'Strength'.
John then started to work with Artis to create a suit of armor with formations.
But then John noticed something scary.
"My memories? Why can't I remember any formations?
It would seem that spending millions of years sifting through the infinite had consequences.
His memory was being overwritten! This was the price to pay for being a concept! He could barely remember the basics of formations.
Who knew what else he was forgetting?
"This is fine."
John calmed himself.
"I can look through the history of 'John Destinatus'. I can reteach myself the basics of formations. This is fine."
But this meant he couldn't make another pendant.
That item had become extremely important!
As he couldn't casually remake it...
"How do I deal with memory loss? This doesn't seem normal."
