2: Chapter 43: Invasion

Now that John had some assets. His next plan was to become rich.

John didn't care about techniques or becoming immortal. Those things were like floating clouds. What he needed was resources. Money.

With money. He could buy the best training rooms, drink the most legendary elixirs and pills. As for worrying about sequela? He didn't give a shit.

The question was. How does one become rich in an advanced cultivation world?

Investing? Takes too long to see a return.

Stealing? Wasting time getting hunted down is stupid.

So what options did that leave John?

Gambling! John went to the sect casino.

It didn't look like a traditional one. There were pods lined up that put the user into a VR environment.

John went to the counter to get registered. He dumped all of his wealth into his account and got digital currency. He then went to a pod and got plugged into VR.

Now he saw many servers he could choose, all with various games. The reason one needed to play in VR was to prevent cheating. Things like spiritual sense didn't follow the digital body. Everyone was a normal human.

That's how it should've been. But John was an anomaly. His awareness was inherently special. Even without connection to his concept.

He was capable of tricking the system and sensing information that should never be available to him. He was essentially using X-Ray hacks.

After having multiplied his money by a hundred times. He was banned from the establishment. His account was deleted.

But they had to give him the money he had earned.

He went to the counter and converted all his digital currency into spirit stones.

John then went to pill pavilion and bought various pills to help speed up cultivation.

He then rented a gravity training room with a recovery pod.

John ate pills like candy and trained every hour of the day. He didn't allow his body to recover at all as he became a martial arts maniac.

Rumors about him had spread around the sect. Some people thought he had become possessed by a top expert. But nobody dared to mess with him, knowing that his combat power could skip a major realm.

A few weeks later. John was busy reaching the peak of Qi Condensation when his father knocked on the door of his training room.

He naturally ignored this. He would rather train and become a nascent soul as quickly as possible.

A day later. The door was busted down and people surrounded John who was busy meditating. He didn't speak, it was if he didn't feel threatened at all. John continued to cultivate.

"I have reported your possession to a sect elder. They have noted your abnormal change."

"We have reason to believe a demonic cultivator has possessed you. You will have to come with us to get tested."

John frowned.

"What if I refuse?"

"Then we will have to use force."

John laughed and spoke:

"You are messing with forces you can't comprehend."

"Please. You think just because you have the soul of an expert. You are in control of the situation?"

John stood up.

"Yes."

"You!?"

The expert that came with his father used a special sealing technique. John felt like he had lost control of his body. They then carried him to be tested.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.

Soon John was lying on his face in a formation.

A bright white light barrier filled the sky and John felt his soul being baptized.

Possession wasn't uncommon among nascent soul experts that died. So contingencies had been in place to deal with these foreigners.

The parasite of the soul would get shattered. If the person wasn't possessed. They would be completely fine. If they were however... their soul would shatter and they would become an empty shell.

John's possesion was different in nature to how a nascent soul would takeover. He would've passed the test. But he didn't bother.

John didn't like this feeling of helplessness. So the moment they had restricted and sealed him. He had been circulating his Qi in hundreds of thousands different combinations.

The formation shattered blinding everyone. But these people had a spiritual sense and it wasn't so easy to escape.

John found himself trapped by magic barriers.

"How did you escape my bug net technique?"

John ignored them and thought about his situation.

"Let's see. I'm suspected to have been possessed by another cultivator. I lack my abilities and things are a bit annoying. How should I resolve this issue?"

John broke through the barrier.

He ran as fast as possible to the center of the sect.

Cultivation in this world was a bit different then the cultivation he was familiar with. People didn't cultivate their meridians. But instead formed tornadoes of Qi, this was Qi Condensation.

John made it to the teleportation array in the center of the sect.

"Don't you dare! You'll die!"

"So what?"

John smiled as he activated the formation. He didn't have a specific place in mind. His body crackled under the spatial forces. His body couldn't handle getting thrown so far into space.

His consciousness however was truly too powerful to be lacking. He stimulated his body causing it to heal at an absurd rate. It wasn't the same as his immortality. But it was enough to just barely survive.

He survived the initial transportation. But he then found himself in a spatial crack.

He was killed.

His willpower however was on a completely different level. He was ignoring the rules and bringing himself back from the dead!

He would awaken.

Die.

Then awaken again.

The primordial forces were fusing with his body.

He spent years in this space.

He eventually broke through to quasi foundation establishment. A normal person may have gone insane from such torture. But to John. This was just a small vacation.

His body was floating in the void. But he was still in a pocket of the immortal realm. This void was full of Qi and his body was greedily absorbing it.

All of the Qi in this pocket had already been refined by him over the years. It was time for him to leave.

He swung his hand down cutting a hole in the void. He then stepped out and found himself on top of a mountain.

He had yet to face the tribulation for foundation establishment.

So he faced it! But it was nothing compared to having his body thrashed by the void.

"I am officially a foundation establishment cultivator. But that took a little bit too long for my liking."

John now lacked a proper identity.

John's bag of holding was still with him. He was quite rich. He also had many resources for cultivating. He went to a sectless city.

It was a city of cultivators. Foundation establishment cultivators could be commonly seen wandering the streets. John fit right in.

John spent a decade in this city consolidating his foundation.

He entered a few auctions and got some golden core treasures. He also bought a talisman inheritance and studied formations during this time.

After reaching the peak of foundation establishment.

He hired a core formation to be his 'dao companion' for a night and forcefully formed a core in a risky manner.

John then spent half a century consolidating his core and focusing on forming a nascent soul.

He had experience with this from other worlds. His level in formations had also reached the level of a master.

But John was unable to form a nascent soul.

So he decided to cheat.

"Origin of Calamity. The cursed! Emflowcreagen. I pray for a connection..."

In an instant. John was no longer like a human. He surpassed gods for a brief instance. He saw the entire world and calculated a marvelous plan.

John shrugged off such a feeling of omnipotence and forcefully condensed a nascent soul.

His soul field and spiritual sense were tempered by a tribulation that he easily survived due to using his concept.

He had become a nascent soul cultivator!

The connection to his concept had become permanent. His consciousness in this body was also generating Qi.

John used almost all of his wealth to buy an astral stone and construct an astral gateway.

Once this was created. He jumped into the portal and ignited himself destroying his body so that only his nascent soul remained.

He then cultivated the arts of ghost. Trying to break into spirit severing. Not because he thought he could pull it off. No. He never valued this body anyway.

He planned to sever something from this nascent soul.

His concept was acting like an emotionless robot. It was only when controlling someone else's soul that this changed slightly.

Just like one could sever their emotions. One could also sever their vices.

The inaction of his concept? He chose to sever his emotionless state.

In an instant. A firework of emotions was felt by this nascent soul.

It had become a spirit severing ghost.

John then cut it into millions of pieces and had these chunks scatter in the 'wind' of the astral. These pieces were assimilated by the inhabitants of various universes.

The single connection became one of many.

The sky of the infinite layer of the calamity realm became full of stars once more. The gods were confused, and continued to do their own thing. As portals hadn't opened up.

It was as if the concept had woken up from slumber.

John looked at the entire world in a glance on a completely different scale. His control of reality was spreading like a plague among universes.

He would invade a world through the fragments of his broken nascent soul. He would then spread like a parasite among the souls of its citizens.

Eventually. He had invaded even the wizard world.

"It is about time that I've gotten my powers back."
