2: Chapter 2: Fake Cover

John had a few goals for this wizard world.

One of those goals was to become a rank 7 existence. He would then truly be a supreme being, instead of merely being like a god in his universe.

He was still quite far away from this goal.

What John needed now was a rank 2 spell model and time. Time to convert all of his mana into liquid.

John continued to experiment in his lab underneath the academy. He even built a pocket dimension for his experiments.

Remember that world John visited that was quite modern? The one with people that awakened powers based on the structure of their brain.

He had spent many years and bodies in that world to acquire the blueprint needed for him to be able to open a portal to the chaos realm.

Unfortunately, the forbidden dao pillar and magic core in the brain was incompatible with the blueprint for opening a portal to the chaos realm.

Through reading. John had found something that existed in both the cultivator world and wizard world. This resource was called astral stones.

However, they were both different. The ones in the cultivation world were used to explore the dream realm. The ones here were used to explore chaotic space and find new worlds!

That's right. The wizards in this world had the technology needed to visit new worlds. This didn't interest John much at first. Because, his skeletal body in the Infinite Maze dimension had the power to send souls across the multiverse.

So why didn't he just explore as many worlds as possible at once? It was due to the strain put on his soul system.

The more souls connected to his private consciousness. The more stress was put on his mind. John had gotten used to splitting his awareness. But he quite disliked doing that. His thought process was that he had infinite time. Nobody could seal or trap him.

So why be in such a rush? He could fully explore the mechanics of the wizard world. Once he became rank 7. He could then act a bit more recklessly.

The reason John changed his mind and his interest was ignited was due to his new magic core. Thanks to wizards using a magic matrix created by Mer. When they invaded new worlds. They would slowly become regular humans as their mana emptied with no way to refill it.

This obviously wasn't a problem for John as his mana came from his soulverse. As long as his body had his soul, it would continue to pull from his backlog of mana.

He also found out that this magic system was compatible with most worlds due to its inherent limitations.

Generally, exploring other worlds is something only people at rank 4 do. This was due to how hard it was to find a world as well as how dangerous it was.

But why would John care about danger? He was immortal! Eternal! Unbreakable!

But acquiring the materials to build an astral gate as well as the astral stones was exponentially more difficult then becoming a rank 2.

John would need to befriend some rank 4's.

Good luck finding them! Then having them respect a rank 1? This was a delusional plan.

John then realized an issue that he had.

He had initially believed he would be able to create an army of himself with his same magic core.

But an issue popped up.

His immortality couldn't mimic the characteristics of mana. This meant that when he made a new body. It would have to start at 0% conversion of mana.

In other words. He couldn't make new bodies with his progress as a mage beyond rank 1.

This also meant that if his magic core was completely destroyed into nothing. He would have to restart at rank 1.

This was unacceptable to him.

Luckily, he had built in a special feature called phantom mode. No external issues could interact with his magic core.

Even if his brain exploded. His magic core would be fine.

He still would have it linked to his soul.

But this got him thinking...

Why not have the core be stored externally.

Why did he need to play by this worlds rules? Why not just make the magic core stored somewhere safe?

John planned to make his magic core like the server for his spells, then use his soul as the client. Since they were linked regardless of distance. He could essentially have his core stored anywhere in the multiverse.

John created another body to perform surgery on himself.

He disabled phantom mode and had his magic core removed directly.

He then tested out his passive spells without even having a magic core in his body.

It was successful! This was only possible due to him developing a soulverse and linking his soul to the core. In other words, the magic core had become soul bound.

John held out his hand with the magic core in it.

He then focused on his body in the Infinite Maze and had it teleport to it.

He then placed the core underneath the blackhole in the center of his maze.

He then turned on phantom mode. Making it vibrate and become intangible.

"This should be safe!"

Now even if his body was vaporized. Nothing would happen to his core.

This phantom soul would always have access to magic!

The only thing that could damage it was an internal issue, like using overload.

He would try not to use that, as it had a chance of making him have to start at rank 1 again.

He was quite glad that he had thought of the issue of having to restart. If he hadn't he may have wasted a lot of time in the future had this body been put in a difficult position.

As for how he controlled the magic core? It was through his phantom soul. It was as easy as moving his fingers.

He had the chamber set to the blank mode.

He looked no different from a mortal.

Since wizards in this world didn't have a spiritual sense and couldn't see meridians and dantians.

John decided to allow nascent soul Qi to flow through his body.

This way, his base would be strengthened over time.

His durability would increase rapidly after a few decades of allowing this explosive Qi to circulate in his body.

He also wasn't leaking any energy due to his perfect core.

Just like with his soulverse. It was all on a closed loop.

John remained in his pocket dimension while he had his body 'Lucas'.

The acolyte he had made in an instant.

He had him publicly inquire about a rank 1 spell model.

John still had the back door in Mer's system.

He planned to cultivate two bodies!

One would follow the traditional magic system as his cover.

While this main body with the nascent soul would cultivate his soulverse system.

He planned to take his time and make it seem realistic.
