2: Chapter 36: Reborn

2: Chapter 36: Reborn

The fireman didn't wear the pendant, so his soul was not linked with it. He kept it in a compartment in his shuttle.

On the anniversary of his marriage he gave it to his wife. She loved it and put it on immediately. She then felt a little odd.

John had successfully linked souls!

Ever since the wife put on the pendant. She couldn't help but notice the way everyone treated her was different. She also seemed to be a god of luck. As she succeeded in all risk she took. She even won the lottery for millions multiple times during her life.

She unfortunately outlived her family and friends. Even with the advanced technology. After a few hundred years, she thought she was cursed!

Cities were now floating on sky islands. She went to the edge of one in despair.

"Why can't I die?"

She was an old lady. She had tried to kill herself multiple times. But she always failed.

"This stupid necklace! It is cursed!"

She threw it off the floating island down into the trash.

But a bird caught it and landed beside her...

"..."

She kicked the bird and threw it off again. This time it fell all the way down to the junkyard.

Over the years, humanity had advanced so much. But waste had also become a problem. So the planet became a junkyard and cities would be on floating islands.

Some cities even had energy shields and filtered air for its inhabitants.

There was an obvious difference in living conditions for those living in the mortal realm versus the immortal realm.

The planet wasn't as polluted in the immortal layer. The cultivators had heavily controlled technology, so it hadn't progressed as much as it had in the mortal realm.

The pendant was lost among the trash.

But for some reason. The ladies luck didn't disappear.

She eventually became paralyzed and lived off life support.

Her thoughts:

"Please... just let me die..."

She somehow dodged organ failure and she lived to the ripe age of 579. Her husband only lived to be 140.

One day... she fell asleep. But she never woke up.

Her soul was going to the heavens... but it then exploded sending the gods soul launching through the heavens.

John then found his awareness had woken up.

The god in charge of judging the deeds of the soul was confused.

"Your history is nonexistent? Yet the strength of the soul seems above average. You have done nothing evil. So you may reincarnate."

John didn't have to go through any weird trials this time.

As he was getting baptized by the world will. He felt his concept evolve. It was as if it was stimulated by the world itself. The god's soul burned its potential and went through a transformation.

John also felt a change for his concept. He had unlocked the ability to see soul. He had also given the blue star that controlled the calamity realm a name.

It's name?

'The Original Mind'.

John as a blue star in the infinite layer of the calamity realm looked at the matrix of the god and its soul.

John was getting closer to understanding soul. He felt he was only a bit of comprehension away from being able to create himself a unique body never before seen in reality!

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.

John had tried to invade the wizard world with his army of monsters. But for some reason. He felt something blocking him.

John's will became dormant for a few months...

The will of the fetus of course. His awareness never faded as the original mind.

John's awareness then woke up as a baby.

He was in the junkyard. He wasn't born in a city. Instead he was born to a parent of scavengers that didn't even have proper identities.

"Fuck!"

"100% luck my ass!"

There was a huge problem with this method. John felt like his willpower had dropped significantly.

Luckily, this wasn't his soul.

John grew up on the planet which had basically become a massive landfill. There were scraps of equipment everywhere and trash. It was truly not a good environment.

You might think he could live lavishly through making food and clothes from formations... but he had no QI and the food he ate didn't generate any either. Even if he drew a formation into the dirt. He wasn't able to power it.

It seemed this world had an entirely different cultivation system. He was used to having a lower, middle, and upper dantian.

In this world. The dantian was more of a spatial anomaly. It didn't exist anywhere in the body. But it stored the energy of the body. It was truly a weird system.

He wasn't alone however.

Scavengers had formed a little community of tents made from the scraps. John grew up quite malnourished and had to fight with adults over food.

Whenever the dumpster shuttles dumped trash. John watched in disgust as everyone disregarded their safety to hunt. Everyone had different diseases from going through hazardous waste.

Not to mention. The food they did find. They were lucky if it was just spoiled.

John missed his immortality. He found that he could use Aion's abilities to reverse his state and heal his injuries. But speeding up his growth? He needed energy! Not anything mystical. Food would be fine. But he was in an environment where he was lucky to find a biscuit.

If things continued this way... he wouldn't survive to be 10!

He was correct. On his eighth birthday. His parents had given him a bar of chocolate. He hadn't eaten anything in months. So he ate it greedily.

He then died. His body couldn't withstand the food!

During the process of his death. John was quite emotionless. He made sure to pay attention to the soul. He watched as the god that had sacrificed himself respawned in the calamity realm in confusion.

He then saw his malnourished body form without a soul in the calamity realm as well.

"This is useless."

In the infinite layer of the calamity realm. It was as if time had frozen.

John used his Death link. He was surrounded by infinite versions of the body that had died. Almost all the versions had suffered a harsh childhood. He used his algorithm to search until he found the body that should of died.

He saw the history of his life. It was quite short. But then John did something a little unique.

Once he died... the history ended.

John began to wonder...

"What if I take over before I die?"

John began to custom craft a soul! He used his death link algorithm to find the correct version of the body that had originally had his will.

John's understanding of time wasn't so proficient yet.

So he couldn't mess with the past yet. He was barely able to leave suggestions to entities in the past. Perhaps in the future. Time wouldn't matter at all to him.

Seeing the structure of the gods soul with luck reforming in the calamity realm. It had inspired John! He was now trying to create a soul from scratch!

He failed.

Again!

Failure...

Again!

It was if time had stopped for reality as John used his processing power for this.

After millions of attempts...

He had succeeded!

He then looked at the matrix of that body. At the dead state. He planned to inject the soul back into the corpse. Reviving him.

But then an idea struck him and he felt like an idiot.

"I can observe souls!"

This was a feature he had already grasped earlier. But he didn't think much of it. Until this experiment enlightened him to a possible solution to a problem.

John was capable enough to look at the history of other entities. When he had first entered the calamity realm... was that not what he did?

Back then. He had seen all versions of himself. All versions of 'John Destinatus'. That was his original body and soul.

Why not look at the soul for comparison? He could get his powers back!

An infinite matrix of versions appeared before John. He quickly searched through the infinite and found his skeletal body.

He then saw that his soul had become a dimension in itself.

"I can't copy this..."

It would've been fine to copy it if he hadn't used soul domain. But now that he had, his soul had essentially became a realm for his universe.

"Wait! The phantom souls!"

John looked at the center of the maze and saw the server for the souls. It had the properties he was looking for! His understanding wasn't good enough to acquire the phantom soul system again. But as for his base immortality of the phantom soul? He was more then skilled enough to create his own form of immortality again.

Although. This immortality wouldn't be tied to a blood anchor. Nor a soul anchor.

It was something old, but new. It was tied to the calamity realm! If he died. It aligned with his curse.

This meant he wouldn't be controlling multiple bodies with this soul alone. But this didn't mean he couldn't do so in the future. He was capable after all of creating more souls using his authority as the ruler of the calamity realm.

He carefully crafted his soul adding his old powers back into it.

He injected his custom made soul into the corpse.

He then opened his eyes.

He could feel the difference in using a unique soul versus someone else's soul right away. His willpower and pain tolerance had surpassed gods once again! He truly felt his soul fuse with the body perfectly. The only thing missing was the native attribute.

John was trying to come up with a method that could manipulate soul.

Dying had become impossible for him.

He stood up and grasped his hand forming a fist. He shook it up at the sky.

"Just try to kill me!"
