“News flash, explosions reported in downtown Nikosia, around the Heritage Square Plaza and Leedra Palace area,” came the report on the network channels.
After the original two explosions on Heritage Drive, subsequent blasts were heard throughout the city.
The Alphas, the elite security force, were in a frenzy, trying to contain the chaos caused by the explosions in their designated security zone. Meanwhile, the four strike teams in security zone 2 were mobilizing to respond to the escalating situation.
“Everyone knows what to do; let's go,” shouted Alexei as the team of six exited the old building on Heritage Drive and headed towards the transport convoy.
Most of the alphas guarding the three-vehicle transport convoy had been knocked unconscious by the anti-personal stun grenades that Alexei had thrown just a minute ago. Those grenades were a tier-one shock and awe weapon usually deployed by the military.
The only guards left were those inside the transport vehicles, and there were only about 8 of them left.
“Renault, Oksana, you're up; take care of those Alphas,” said Alexei, directing his team's operations toward the transport vehicles.
Renault took off towards the last vehicle, and Oksana towards the front vehicle. No one on Alexei’s team knew where the charm was, so they had to inspect all three vehicles.
By this time, news about the assault was all over the global net. Some reporters were close to the area, so they had a first view of the assault, while others were trying to make their way there.

“Alliance New is now reporting live from Heritage Drive,” said a reporter from inside the old Stars hotel building across from where the fighting was taking place.
“Holly smokes, folks, we are reporting on an ongoing assault on the transport convoy heading to the auction house,” said the reporter.
“Someone was daring enough to launch an assault in plain daylight. It seems a well-organized and equipped team of 6 have begun assaulting the transport convoy; as far as we can tell, they have immobilized all the outside guards that were escorting the convoy,” kept on saying the reporter.
“Right now, the bad guys are fighting against the alphas inside the vehicle transports, but it's not looking good for the security forces,” continued the newsman.
During all this, I had gone to one of the adjacent alleys. Seeing that no one was around, I quickly activated my DSS and GB skills and, in a short instant, had my DSS armor on.
I was becoming more proficient with this skill, which reduced the time I needed to cover myself in armor from head to toe.
Damian called me as I was about to head to where the fighting was happening.
“Prime, what the hell is going on? I keep hearing and seeing explosions all over the place,” he said in a very uneasy voice.
I explained what had happened to the transport convoy on its way to the auction house and that some explosions in the other zones were probably decoys.
“Shit, who the fuck would be brave enough to attack an alliance transport in broad daylight,” said Damian, upset.
“Someone that is very prepared and confident enough that they could pull off the heist,” I retorted.
“Prime, I 'm heading that way right now; wait for me,” said Damian eagerly.
“No, stay there. I can handle the show here. I need you there as I’ll be sending the charm your way in a bit. Make sure you escort it inside the building and secure it in the enclosure,” I told Damian.

“Are you sure,” he said nervously.
“Yeah, I’m very sure.”
Afterward, Damian just said ok, and the call was terminated. I walked around the edge and used air walk to get to the roof of the building right next to the convoy.
I got close to the edge, only to spot Oksana going to town against two Alphas in the front vehicle. Theo was with Alexei in the middle of the convoy; they were trying to open the doors on the middle vehicle, and although I couldn’t see him, I could hear Renault fighting with two more Alphas in the back transport.
“Folks, as I had reported earlier, it looks like the Alphas are at the losing end of the fight right now. I’m just surprised that no one else has shown up to help,” said the reporter.
“Theo, how is it looking? Are we almost in,” said Alexei.
“One more minute, boss, and I should have it,” he said.
“That's Good. Let's not waste any more time, as we are already at the three-minute mark,” replied Alexei.
“Everything seemed to be going to schedule for Alexei’s team. They had been able to subdue the guards, and Renault and Oksana were keeping the other Alphas busy, so all they needed now was to secure the package and take off.
“Boss, I got it,” said Theo as he unlocked the door to the transport vehicle.
Like clockwork, Alexei opened the door and threw an anti-personal stun grenade into the transport to disable the guards inside, closing the door right after he threw it so as not to affect his team outside. A blue electric flash was seen inside the transport vehicle the next instant.
“Alright, we should be good to go; let's move,” said Alexei as he opened the doors to get inside.
Buzzzz, Buzzzz, Buzzzz
“What the hell is that noise,” thought Alexei, looking up to see where the noise was coming from.
He was surprised but reacted fast enough to get out of the way when he saw an incoming crescent blade clearly aimed at him. Unfortunately, Theo didn’t realize what was happening as he wasn't paying attention to Alexei. Before he knew it, a second air-blade exploded about one foot from where he was.
BAAMM!!!
Theo just felt an immeasurable force pick him up and toss him over the transport vehicle, hitting his head on top of it as he flew, tumbling through the air all the way to the other side of the street, about 15 meters away. He had been picked up and tossed as if he were a rag doll.
“THEO!!” screamed Alexei in a panic as he saw his partner blown away from in front of him. He didn’t know if he was dead or alive.
It was as if time stood still for Alexei and his team. They were not expecting this.

“On no guys, it seems the bad guys have managed to get into the middle transport," said the reporter, a little disheartened.
"It's usually the one that carries the secure package; it seems this is it,” said the reporter as he saw how Alexei threw the stun grenade inside the vehicle.
“They just immobilized the guards inside the vehicle; what bad luck,” reiterated the reporter solemnly.
Just as everyone watching the news thought the assault on the convoy had been successful, the report screamed out in surprise.
“HOLD EVERYTHING,” said the reporter.
“Some has just launched a successful strike against the bad guys, blowing one of them away," he said enthusiastically, almost jumping for joy.
"Can we pan out to see who it might be?” the reporter excitedly asked after calming down.
“No, we don’t have an angle, you say,” the reporter kept talking to his team on the air as he tried his best to get the big picture on the screen.
A freelance reporter on the other side of the street quickly jumped in for Alliance News as he had front-row viewing from the other side of the street. He had the buildings in front of him, clearly catching all the action and the person who had just launched the assault.
“Good afternoon, folks. Jerry Gilberts here reporting for Alliance News.”
“As my partner had just reported, we had someone launch a successful strike against the bad guys, and we on live news have the person that did it,” said Jerry, hyperventilating due to the excitement.
He then focused on the person standing atop the old Star Hotel building.
“It's him, it’s him,” said the reporter zealously.
“ITS PRIME.”
Alexie quickly recovered from the surprise attack. He looked around, scanning the area with hawkeyes, trying to figure out where the attack originated.
“You fucking coward. Show yourself if you have the balls,” he screamed, fuming angrily.
Oksana realized something was wrong, as it had been more than five minutes, and Theo and Alexie were not done yet.
She rushed back only to see Alexei screaming like a madman in the middle of the street.
“What the hell are you doing,” she said, exasperated, looking at her team leader curiously.
Alexie turned around when he heard Oksana’s words, but his eyes grew wide with fear when he saw two more crescent blades heading toward Oksana.
“Watch out!” he screamed, pointing to the air blades approaching rapidly.
Oksana turned to look in the direction Alexei was pointing, only to see two air blades approaching. They were spinning so fast that they looked like they were in slow motion.
She only had enough time to activate her shield as the two air blades arrived.
BOOM!!!
Another explosion was heard, and a body was seen flying out of the debris field at a high rate of speed.
It was Oksana; she flew out from the impact site and crashed into the side of the first transport vehicle, bending the whole back door. She hit it so hard that she bounced off after hitting the vehicle and landed on the street floor. She lay there motionless.
“Fuck you’re a fucking dead man,” screamed Alexei as he traced back the trajectory of the blades. Only to see a person standing atop the old Star Hotel building.
His blood just froze after realizing who it was.
“Fuck, it's Prime.”
