After the incident in the park, I returned to InnovaTech to pick up my stuff from Damian’s transport.
I had already turned off my special abilities, but still looked weird because I only had my battle suit on. I needed to get some clothes on before I started attracting too much attention.
“Shit, let me change into some of my clothes quickly before people start asking stupid questions.”
After changing into regular clothing, I knew I needed to go to Mt. Ethos quickly, so I got on my CAD and promptly ordered a ride service to the mountain.
After waiting for 10 minutes, my ride service arrived. I got in, and the driver quickly took off.
“Where, too?” asked the driver.
“Mt. Ethos, housing district 6, the Charmed Wilds subdivision,” I told the driver.
After hearing me, the driver turned around and looked me up and down before giving me a curious look.
“Are you sure you want to go there and not a local hotel or something more in your range,” he said with a smirk.
“What the Fuck,” was wanted to say, but I kept my cool.
“No, Mt. Ethos is fine,” I said coldly.
I could see the driver just shaking his head as he sped away. The drive to Mt. Ethos was long, so I settled in my seat and closed my eyes, hoping to take a quick nap, but the driver suddenly started chatting away.
“Buddy, I just picked you up around the Cleaburn Park area; by chance, did you happen to see the fight at the park,” he said.
I opened my right eye to peek at the driver before saying.
“No, I was at the store, so I really didn’t hear anything,” I mumbled to the driver.
“Really, you didn’t hear anything at all; people are saying it was an epic battle, one for the ages between Phantom Force and some new upstart team with incredible powers,” said the driver with admiration in his eyes.
“Hmm…you don’t say,” I answered calmly.
“Yeah, this new team of just two guys blew by Phantom and killed all 4 team members. That shit is all over the news and the global network also,” he said excitedly.
“Really, well, it's news to me,” I said.
“Yeah, people are looking for them right now, but no one knows who they are or where they live; they only know their names, Damian and Prime,” he said avidly.
“Prime, really?” I said in bewilderment.
I wasn’t expecting Damian to use such a cheesy ass name.
“Yeah, Prime, what a badass name for a badass fighter,” said the driver.
“He has the most badass armor suit that covers his face, and he can float; NOBODY ELSE CAN DO THAT,” he said, almost screaming.
I kept my eyes closed when I heard him, but I knew this would be an issue in the coming days.
The rest of the ride, all the way to when the transport ride stopped in front of the building in the Charms Wild subdivision, was spent hearing the driver describe how the fight took place in his own vivid, imaginative narrative.
It was wildly exaggerated, to say the least; I was made out to sound like a GOD almost.
After paying off the ride service, I went to the 6th floor and entered the apartment.
The author's content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
I put my stuff inside one of the apartment's bedrooms, the one on the right side, next to the small training room.
“Ok, so I’m here, so I should make the best of this for now,” I told myself.
After dropping off my stuff, I quickly messaged Damian to let him know I was at the apartment.
“Damian just got to Mt.Ethos; let me know when you can meet,” I wrote in my CAD before sending the message.
It was already past 2 p.m., so I was getting hungry. I went to check to see if Damian had stocked the fridge, which he had. I quickly got some snacks and a drink before sitting in the living room.
“Let’s check the news to see what they are saying about us. It's probably nothing good,” I mumbled.
I picked up one of the snacks with one hand and turned on the Holo-Display with the other.
The display came on as usual. I started reading some of the different news articles on the display while bringing the snack up to my mouth.
Suddenly, I stopped, and the shock made the snack fall out of my hand. I couldn’t get my eyes off the display and all the stuff that was popping up on it.
It was all related to us.
The different videos taken by Brock were shown over and over and over, time and time again.
The headlines on the different news channels were the same.
“New talented due, shocks the world.”
“Prime, who is he? People say he is a Primordial Elite. Could this be true?”
“Damian says Prime is a private individual. Could Prime actually be a female?”
“An Inside source from house Nouvis claims Prime is actually Lord Zillos' grandson, Dyjax. Could this be true?”
The headlines just kept coming. Some were bad, but some were just totally bonkers.
I was so mesmerized by the headlines that I didn’t realize my CAD was buzzing.
I quickly looked at who the caller was, and a big smile appeared on my face as it was Eva.
“Beautiful, what’s happening,” I said happily.
“I love it when you call me beautiful,” said Eva shyly.
“Just for that, you earned yourself a reward next time I see you,” she said softly.
“Really? That’s good; I need to think of other names befitting your beauty then,” I said.
“Maybe I can earn more rewards,” I said smugly.
“Oh, you’re turning into a bad boy; I might need to punish you,” said Eva timidly.
I didn’t know how to answer after that. Damian had given me a few pointers on how to talk to a girl, but at this point, I was at a loss on what to do next.
There was a short but comfortable silence before Eva spoke again.
“What cat got our tongue,” she said, giggling.
“Yeah, you could say that.”
“Well, I’ll leave this conversation for later then. So, have you arrived at your new house then?” Eva asked.
“Yeah, just got here about 30 minutes ago.”
“You’re living by yourself?” she asked.
“Yes, just me now.”
“Well, send me your address. I want to go see where you are leaving now,” she said in a low voice.
“Okay, I’ll send it here in a bit,” I replied, a little nervous.
I wasn’t nervous that she might come over; I was anxious that she might think something was up if I lived in such an affluent place.
I sent her the address on the CAD and was expecting her to say something, but nothing happened. We continued to talk about different stuff for the next 30 minutes.
“OK, honey, I have to go as my dad is calling me, but if I can, I'll call you later today or tomorrow. If I can’t, then I’ll see you Monday at school,” said Eva.
“That's okay, beautiful. Stay safe, and if anything comes up, let me know,” I said.
“I love it when you call me beautiful; say it again,” she said coyly.
“BEAUTIFUL,” I said in a nice firm tone.
“OH, Baby, that was great. “You’ve earned yourself a nice treat on Monday,” she said as she blew a kiss into the CAD before hanging up.
“Treat? Is she bringing food? She doesn’t even know what I like.” I told myself.
After another 30 minutes had passed by, I got a message from Damian.
“Prime, it's good you got home.”
“Listen to my words, do not go out, and do not call anyone to the apartment for the next two days.”
“I’m going to have to deal with some major fallout from the fight so that I might be incommunicado for the next few days. If you don’t hear back from me on Monday, go to school like you regularly do, and I will reach out to you as soon as possible.”
“There is food in the fridge, and if you need anything, there are 250000 silver credits on this account, XXX5896XXX; use them as you need them. I’ll reach out to you as soon as possible. Take care of yourself, Prime.”
Ended the message.
“Hmm… it seems we have bigger issues than I thought,” I said.
“I’m going to need to be extra careful for the time being.”
“Good thing I have more than I need here. I can start working on the charm for Eva, and I might even do one for Damian, seeing he risked his life to buy me time.” I mumbled.
Back at Zone 16's main office in one of the high-rises in Riyadh.
Two burly, muscle-bound men stood outside a set of double doors leading to a conference room on floor 57.
Inside the conference room sat four individuals.
“I will not ask again, Damian. Who is this Prime character, and how can we reach him?” said a frustrated Selin Lily.
Damian had been under interrogation for about 10 minutes from Selin as Nikolas and Oliver watched on.
“I’ll say it again, guys. Prime is a very private individual, and he likes it that way. I don’t have his number or know how to contact him; he always contacts me from a private number. Even if you kill me, I won't be able to tell you anything,” he said again, sweating profusely from his forehead.
“So you’re telling me that you don’t know who he is or how to contact him,” said Selin with a questioning look.
“Yes,” answered Damian.
“BULLSHIT,” screamed Selin in anger.
