Unbeknownst to Khyrum, several forces were moving outside his circle of influence. He was still lying on the table, waiting for the machine to finish.
The TGS machine started at the head, moved to the torso and abdomen, and was now to scan his waist and thigh area. In Khyrum’s opinion, it was taking too long.
“Mann, this thing is taking forever. It's been almost one hour, and it is not done yet,” he said with some worry.
“If it takes any longer, someone is going to show up. I believe the school closes at 9 p.m., so someone is bound to come by and check on the building anytime before then.”
“This thing needs to hurry up.”
I knew I was running out of time, and the chances of someone showing up kept rising the longer I stayed there. It was getting through my thigh area now, but I knew I couldn’t wait any longer. Once done with this area, I decided to get up and finish the test. Hopefully, it was more than enough information to give me an idea of the skill.
“Alright, it's done with the thigh area; I need to go turn it off so I can have it give me the result,” I said as I got up from the bed.
The machine shut down when there was no more body to scan. It beeped and blinked for about 15 seconds before returning to the center position.
I made my way out of the sphere and moved to the display panel before the machine. Once I got to the panel, I saw a blinking tab that said Test Stopped. It had two options underneath it. One said Continue, the other Finish.
“OK, I will finish the test and hopefully get my results ASAP.”
After that, I hit the Finish option on the display panel, and the machine lit up again, with many more different lights coming on.
The display panel had a percentage bar that said initializing test results and percentage complete. The bar started rising ever so slightly, 2%...5%...9%...14%...
“Crap, this is going to take another 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and it's already 8:45 pm,” I said after looking at my PLE.
“This is going to be very close. Anyone can show up at any moment now,” I continued.
I knew I had to be ready.
“I’m going to turn off the lights and crack open the door just a bit to see if I hear or see anyone come in. With the lights off, they will have a harder time spotting or looking at me for identification. I may be able to slip by them if they are not paying too much attention,” I said as I walked to the door.
I opened the door and turned off the lights. I walked back to the machine and continued to wait for the results. The percentage bar was now at 37%, 41%, and 45%.
Outside on school grounds, one of the last teachers on campus walked towards the Phys Ed building. His name was Trent Numa. He was the son of the leader of the fifth-ranked Numa Household, Mathew Numa, who belonged to the Astren Group.
Trent was also a trainer, the same as Mr. Warnick, except he had shown more advanced skills at a younger age, so he was given the position as one of three trainers in charge of the school's seniors.
“This should be my last stop before leaving for the night,” he said as he walked towards the Phys Ed building.
As he arrived at the building, he saw nothing unusual.
“Good, everything seems normal. A quick check inside, and I should be able to leave. I can call Diana afterward and see if she still wants to meet for dinner tonight,” he said.
He walked inside the building and turned on the lights. He then continued to walk down the hallways, checking along the way.
As soon as Khyrum saw the light on the hallway turn on, he knew he was out of time.

“Shit, I’m out of time, and this stupid machine is not done yet,” he said in a frustrated tone.
The machine was still reading 82%, 85%, and 88%.
“God damm piece of crap, move it,” he kept screaming in his head.
Trent turned the hallway before the one the Test Room was in. He spot-checked the doors to ensure they were shut and occasionally stopped to look at his CAD or Communication Access Device. He was checking if Diana had sent him any messages.
“I haven't received any messages from her, so that means I’m going to have to call her once I get out of here,” he said.
Khyrum was jumpy as he still had to wait for the test results to finish.
“This stupid machine is slower than molasses on a cold winter's day,” he told himself as he waited.
“Stupid thing, Move It!” he said in his mind, now irritated.
After checking the display on the machine, it showed 94%, 96%, and 98%.
“Come on, you’re moving at a snail's pace, you piece of shit, rusty old tin bucket. Move It!”
99%......100%
I heard Trenton approaching the door when the progress bar turned 100 percent.
“Hmm, this is strange. The door to the Test Room is open. I wonder if someone is inside,” he said as he approached the front of the door.
I quickly hit Flash download on the screen and tapped download on my PLE to download the results.
Just as I was doing this, the front door opened gradually.
“Hello, is anyone here?” came a voice from just outside the door.
I didn’t answer. I kept one eye on the PLE and the other on the door. I knew that if the person came in right now and turned on the lights, I would be busted.
“Please keep the lights off for a few more seconds; come on, I almost have the results,” I said nervously.
Just when my PLE said complete, the front door opened up completely, revealing the outline of a person about 5’10” or so with a masculine build. I knew it was a man, but who I couldn’t tell as the light from the hallway created a backdrop that blinded the visual appearance of that person.
“Who the hell is this?” I said in my head.
“Anyone in here? It's trainer Numa. It's late to be testing at this hour, especially in the dark. So if you are here, please say something,” he said suspiciously.
“I would hate to confuse you with a burglar or thief,” he continued.
He started walking inside. I had met my goal and moved quietly to the side of the room opposite trainer Numa. I waited for him to move away from the door before I flew out towards the hall and front door using my Windstep.
Trenton walked inside the room and saw that one of the TGS machines was turned on; he headed towards it, moving away from the door. In that instant, Khyrum took the initiative to activate his wind step and glided at top speed towards the door. As soon as he got out into the hallway, he turned and headed back to the front door.
Everything was so quick that all Trenton could notice in that instant was a gust of wind swirling inside the room before what seemed like a shadow in his eyes flew out the door.
“Did I just see a ghost?” he said, startled.
With that, he quickly turned on the lights and realized he was alone inside the room.
“I’m sure I saw something, but what was it?” he questioned.
He continued to walk to the TGS machine that was on.
“Why is this machine on?”
“What! It says a test was completed not too long ago.”
“Could a student have been here just a minute ago?” thought Trenton.
“Nah, what student could move like that?” he thought.
He proceeded to check on the test. He downloaded the results to his CAD and opened them to look at them.
“What!!! This can’t be true!!” he screamed, looking at the results.
Without realizing it, Khyrum had left his test results on the TGS machine. When he downloaded them into his PLE, he forgot to erase the results and turn off the machine.
Now, without him knowing it, someone had gotten ahold of his results. The only saving grace for him was that his name was missing from the results. So, no one knew other than him who the results belonged to.
Reading the results, Trenton was trembling from head to toe.
“This can’t be right. It says here the person who got tested has a TGene count of 55%. That is unbelievable, but it also says that the Skill he tested on is a skill not seen for centuries. No one can replicate it today,” he said dubiously.
He kept reading the results, his eyes growing wider in disbelief.
“This is the stuff of legends. It says that the tested skill is above the tier-one level. It could be considered a Titan Skill. I had never heard of or seen that designation used before today. It also says he has two other skills that might be at the same level.”
“Who the hell just tested?” he thought in utter disbelief after reading the results.
“I know I saw something or a shadow of something when I came in. Could it have been him?” he gave it some serious thought.
“This had to be someone that just recently awoken as any of the juniors or seniors would have already been identified. So it has to be a sophomore or possibly a freshman,” he said, still thinking of the possibilities.
He kept thinking for a while before a thought popped into his mind.
“Could it be him?”
“Well, he is the son of one of the most outstanding Alphas in the last few years. His dad has shown incredible growth in the last years, so that could explain a lot,” he said, still deep in thought.
“I have to tell the principal and dad about this. We need to control how much of this gets out to the public so as not to cause a problem for him and the school in the future,” he said as he erased the test result, keeping only the result in his CAD, and turned off the machine.
He then turned off the TGS and the lights in the room before closing the door shut.
“This will be life-changing for all of us starting tomorrow,” he said in awe.
