“Mr. Damian, what exactly transpired here? Why were you engaged in such a violent altercation?” Brock asked, his eyes sweeping the scene of chaos and destruction.
“There is a lot of property damage and loss of life. So, the fight must have been over something precious,” he continued.
At the moment, Damian was at a loss for words. He couldn't say what the fight was about because he didn’t know. He just knew it was related to Khyrum.
He had to find a way to deflect the focus away from Khyrum, but how? Suddenly, his CAD began to vibrate as a call was coming in.
He looked at his display to see who was calling, only to pale completely from the caller's ID.
“Shit, Shit, how am I going to explain it to her,” was his first thought.
The person calling on the CAD was none other than his boss, Selin Lily.
Selin was a tough woman—one could even argue that she was as tough as any man. She was 28, about 5’10”, and weighed 140 lbs of pure muscle. Her face was exquisite, with a lovely straight nose, blue-colored eyes, and high cheekbones; her hair was blonde with streaks of pink.
If one didn’t know who she was, they could easily confuse her with a beauty pageant contestant. Especially with her body, she was very voluptuous, and she knew it. She liked to flaunt her natural beauty every time she could.
But you might not live to tell the tale if you tried anything.
She was raised by Riyadh section 16 boss Nikolas Zafer from a young age. When she awoke at 15, she showed a great transcendent gene count, so Nikolas adopted her as his daughter.
For the next ten years, she went through all the same training, even more than every top-tier Alpha. She developed excellent skills and even competed in the global competition before Nikolas called her back to be trained to take over his spot in Riyadh.
Damian quickly separated from the reporter to take the call privately.
“Boss, what can I do for you,” said Damian humbly.
He knew there would be hell to pay if his boss were upset.
“What the fuck, Damian? Have you seen the news? Explain this shit to me now,” she said very impolitely.
Damian started sweating profusely after hearing Selin just now. He knew he was in deep shit, and to make it even worse, he had a freaking fly eavesdropping on his conversation as he could feel the reporter trying to hear what he was saying with Selin.
“Boss, we can talk about this later. Right now, I have other things to deal with since it looks like we have some birds on the wire,” he said, trying to sound calm.
Brock quickly picked up on this meaning, and his face contorted into one of disapproval.
“Mr. Damian, can you explain what happened here, “he asked again in a more interrogating tone.
“Alright, Damian, I'll be waiting for you in my office in one hour. Do not be late if you know what's good for you,” said Selin in a commanding tone before hanging up.
Damian could feel the hair on the back of his neck stand up as Selin finished the call.
“That freaking woman scares me even more than prime,” he said to himself as he turned to look at the reporter.
“Look, I can’t discuss the specifics of the issue at hand, but I can say that we were not at fault, and the facts that will arise from the investigation that will be performed here will prove that. For the time being, that is all I can say,” stated Damian as he prepared to leave.
“Sir, you still haven’t explained who you are or why your partner left. We want to talk to him, as he has shown skills that have not been seen before. Is he some new Elite Alpha that we haven’t seen,” asked the reporter in haste as he could feel Damian was about to leave.
Damian didn’t respond; he only flashed a smile before turning and leaving.
“Well, there you have it, folks; Damian and his partner, Prime, finished off the 46th-ranked team, Phantom, and they did it in a four-against-two match. Something that has not been seen in a very long time. Could this be the resurgence of the golden years for Alphas and Transcended alike?”
“Who could say? This Prime individual did not stay for an interview, and his partner Damian did not elaborate past the usual rhetoric in these types of cases.”
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
“We will continue to investigate this confrontation and hope to have an answer for you soon; please stay tuned for any further developments,” said Brock as he signed off from the live feed.
As he finished his live feed, Brock started walking toward Damian, who was going through Kamil's body, looking for anything that would lead them back to Khyrum.
Damian quickly noticed Brock walking over.
“What do you need, Mr. News reporter?” said Damian in a cold voice.
Brock stopped after hearing Damian's cold tone.
“Mr. Damian, you know that very important people and organizations will start prying into what happened here. It's not every day that two individuals take down a globally ranked team,” he told Damian.
“And?” answered Damian.
“Well, I’m just saying the anonymity of your friend will not last long, as I would not be surprised if these organizations had already started the search, but there is a way to profit from it right now,” he said while raising an eyebrow to Damian.
Damian looked at him while furrowing his eyebrow.
“Explain?” he said coldly.
“It's straightforward; we can pay you for an exclusive reveal,” said Brock tentatively.
Damian just looked at him as if he was stupid,
“Do you think we lack money?” he said.
“No, that’s not what I meant,” said Brock, trying to broker a deal.
“I meant that your partner is the biggest star out there right now.”
“After thirty minutes, your fucking crazy,” said Damian in a condescending tone.
“If you don’t believe me, just look at videos from my live feeds; they have gone viral over the last 30 minutes, with over 500 million views in this short time.”
“I can say without any doubt that by tomorrow, this video and your friend will have over 1 billion views; I might even venture to say that he will have over 5 billion views. He is a star in the making, and he doesn’t even know about it,” said Brock, talking like a showman.
“We are willing to invest in him handsomely if he agrees to give us all the exclusives, like who he is, where he got his skills, and who is backing him. We are even willing to shelter him against the big corporations,” Brock said, smiling.
Damian just looked at him and chuckled for a bit.
“You must think I’m as dumb as you look, asshole," he said viciously.
“Look, we don’t need your money or your protection. Now get out here before I change my mind and make your part of the casualty count,” said Damian rudely.
Brock just looked at him for a second with a gleam of viciousness in his eye before he turned around and started walking back from where he came from.
“There is no way I will let this opportunity pass me by. I’m going to investigate until I find out who this Prime is, and then I’ll make him famous to the point people will associate me with him; that will give me the big break I’m looking for,” he said as he clenched his fists.
After Damian searched all the bodies in the park to make sure no evidence was left that could implicate him or Khyrum, he left.
Soon after, the section 16 cleaning crew arrived to clean the area and remove the bodies. A few hours had passed as the crew was in the middle of the cleaning operation when ten black transport vehicles suddenly arrived at the site.
A total of 80 men got out and spread throughout the area.
“Please hold what you're doing. I need you to leave the area as is and move out,” said an older gentleman in a black battle suit.
“Sir, this is a battle involving zone 16; you have no jurisdiction here,” said a clean-up crew member.
“Oh, really well, let me tell you, my name is Gazan Shelong, and I’m the committee's rapid response team commander. I was authorized by Lord James Quarris and the other nine main house heads of the committee to overlook this incident. Do you want to tell them why they don’t have jurisdiction here,” said Commander Shelong mockingly.
The clean-up guy started sweating and trembling after hearing Commander Shelong.
“Sir, my apologies, but I need to verify with my boss; it will only be a minute,” said the cleanup guy as he quickly called his supervisor.
“Sir, our higher-ups are on the way; they will be here in minutes; they will be able to sort this out with you,” said the clean-up guy as he returned to his crew.
“What fucking shit is this?” thought Commander Shelong.
“Zone 16 is getting really brazen. First, there is the issue with the charm, and now there is this. … we might have to pay closer attention to them in the future,” he mumbled as he waited by the park entrance.
About 10 minutes passed before four heavily muscled transport vehicles arrived at the site. By this time, the zone 16 clean-up crew and the committee rapid response team were waiting outside. None wanted to antagonize the other, so they held equally outside.
Fifty men and women got out of the vehicles. Zone boss Nikolas Zafer led them, followed by his enforcer Oliver Sven and his daughter Selin Lily.
“Commander Shelong, what an unexpected visit; if I had known that you were coming, I would have invited you to lunch,” said Nikolas graciously.
“Boss Zafer, thank you for the kind words, but this was a spur-of-the-moment thing; it's purely business,” said Commander Shelong.
“Ok, I can see that. So what brings you to our great city, commander,” inquired Nikolas.
“You should know this already, Boss Zafer; you had quite the show here this afternoon. It caught the committee's attention,” said Commander Shelong in a predominant voice.
“As such, we are here to overlook the investigation, so we humbly request that you grant us all the help we need, plus turn over all the materials and bodies you might have already recovered from the area,” he continued.
Nikolas and his group weren't unsurprised; they knew something like this would happen. They just expected the committee to move slower. They thought they had a day or two before the committee showed up, but instead, they only got about two hours.
“Commander Shelong, would it not be more beneficial to allow my team to finish since they were already more than fifty percent complete? As you said, I'll put all of my resources at your disposal so all our findings will have been communicated to you,” said Nikolas calmly.
Gazan looked at Nikolas as if a wolf were looking at his prey.
“There is no need to intermingle wolves and sheep, boss Zafer. Just have your team leave everything they found, and we will see you later at your office,” he said as he turned around and headed back into the park.
As Commander Shelong was walking away, he stopped; he then turned and looked at Nikolas.
“Make sure you bring those two fighters here in one hour. I don’t want any excuses, Boss Zafer. Just make it happen,” he said coldly.
He then turned around and proceeded to walk back inside the park.
