The following two days flew by in a breeze. Other than eating or going to the bathroom, I did not leave my meditative state as I was trying hard to finish the bracelet before the start of the auction.
Saturday morning, a wave of relief and satisfaction washed over me as I finally put the finishing touches on the bracelet.
“Damm, these gear enchantments are starting to consume more and more time of my time,” was the first thing that popped into my mind after finishing.
“Let me call Damian and see if he's available."
I picked up my CAD to make the call and noticed a plethora of new message notifications.
Most of them were from Eva, as she said that Brandon was being more of a douchebag than usual, claiming to have befriended Prime, even showing pictures of him and Prime together.
“Hmm…I don’t remember ever taking photos with him.”
“Could he have faked the photos?”
I sent a quick message to her to let her know it was only one more day. Everything should return to normal tomorrow.
The other messages were from Damian and Roy.
Damian asked how I was doing since I had stayed in my room for the last 48 hours. He also said that the rest of the team had gotten together on Thursday, and although they were displeased with being pushed out into the second security zone, most, if not all, understood the reasoning behind it.
I quickly messaged him back, letting him know I was okay, asking if he could swing by the hotel.
After sending Damian the message, I opened Roy’s.
“Khyrum, it's Friday night, and we still haven't met to discuss the auction tomorrow. Can you give me a call,” read the message.
I messaged him back.
“Roy, let's meet at noon in front of the auction house to have lunch and discuss our plan for tonight,” I wrote.
After sending the message to Roy, I received a new one from Damian.
“Good to see that you're alive, kid. I’m heading that way right now, be there in 15 minutes,” wrote Damian.
I quickly took a shower and changed. I left the restroom and picked up the bracelet, which had some warmth and a greenish-yellow shimmer.
As I walked out of the bedroom, there was a knocking at the front door.
Knock, Knock, Knock
Opening the door, I saw Damian standing on the other side with a shiner in his left eye.
“Hmm.. that’s new, playing too rough with the boys?” I asked with a smirk.
He half smiled and walked inside without saying a word.
“Or was it playing too rough with the future girlfriend,” I said mockingly.
Damian froze just as he was getting to the living room. I could see his body shake as if remembering something terrifying.
“That’s one scary girl,” he said, trembling.
“But let's not talk about it anymore; why did you want to see me,” he asked, sitting on the couch.
I walked over and sat across from him. I took the bracelet out of my pocket and threw it on the table between us.
The bracelets shimmer quickly caught Damian’s attention.
“What is this,” he said, freaking out from watching the bracelet.
“Pick it up and put it on,” I said calmly.
Damian hesitated for a bit. He kept looking at the bracelet, mesmerized by its shimmer. He then looked at me as if what I said was unreal.
I nodded, and he quickly picked up the bracelet from the table.
His hands were shaking from the excitement and anticipation of what this bracelet could be. After securing it on his right wrist, he injected some power into the bracelet.
As quickly as he did that, his eyes got as big as saucers.
“Holy Shit, Balls, Prime, what is this thing,” he said in a most exhilarated tone.
He kept looking at the bracelet, rubbing it with his left hand, and even smelling it.
If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
I’m not sure why, but he even touched it with his tongue once.
“What the hell are you doing?” I said, stunned from watching him.
“It's not freaking candy or scratch and sniff, you fool,” I said, bewildered.
Seeing how stupidly he was acting, Damian’s face turned red.
“I’m sorry, Prime, it’s just this thing caught me by surprise,” he said, pointing to the bracelet.
“Where did you get it,” he asked cautiously.
“Don’t worry where I got it; the only thing you need to do is keep your mouth shut. If anyone asks, you don’t know anything; your skills just got better from training with me,” I told him seriously.
“Ok,” he said as he kept staring at the bracelet.
“It's needless to say, but I will anyway. Do not lend it to anyone, and do not show it off, as it is not something that you want other Alphas to know if you get what I’m saying,” I said solemnly.
Damian just looked up at me, and his face had this look of appreciation and a bit of fear. He knew he could get killed if he told any other Alpha about the bracelet, but he appreciated that I thought of him for it.
“Alright, I must be somewhere at noon today, so return to the team. I’ll meet you guys later when I’m done,” I said, getting up from the couch.
“Ah, ok, you don’t need me to tag along?”
“Nah, I’m just meeting an old friend for lunch. Afterward, I’ll go meet up with you guys.”
After Damian left, I closed the apartment door and took the elevator to the lobby.
It was already 11:30 a.m., so I walked to the auction site, which was only two blocks away.
I spotted Roy waiting for me outside the auction house when I arrived.
“Hey Khyrum.”
“Hey, you ready,” I said.
Roy nodded, and we proceeded to walk to a local restaurant that was only one block away.
It was a nice 5-star restaurant named Isabel’s Local Cuisine. We didn’t have to wait as Roy had already reserved a table.
I let Roy order. He said he was already familiar with this place, having eaten there before. He ordered us some of the better dishes on the menu.
As we waited for the dishes to arrive, he told me how everything was set up tonight.
“The auction will start at 8 p.m., but the pendant will be moved to the auction at 4 pm to allow for viewing by the bidders,” he said as the dishes started to arrive.
“Right now, it's been kept safe at the alliance headquarters building, a few blocks from here at the Leedra Palace Area. At 3:30 p.m., they will take it out of the safe I have it stored in and transport it by armored transport to the auction house.”
“Once inside the auction house, it will be put into the viewing enclosure. The enclosure is impervious to any damage. It can even take a direct hit from a tier-one high-grade plasma rifle and wouldn’t even get scratched. It has bio and time locks, making breaking into impossible, " Roy said confidently.
“Sounds like it would be secure once inside the auction house. The only weak spot I can see is the transport window from the alliance building to the auction site,” I said, deep in thought.
“Yeah, but it's only 30 minutes, and many Alphas will surround the area. I doubt someone would be stupid enough to try anything,” said Roy.
“We were more worried about keeping it out on display for an extended amount of time; that is why we decided to wait to bring it out until the day of the auction,” he continued.
I nodded, but I was still worried about that small 30-minute window.
Unbeknownst to us, a few tables to our left, a gentleman was eavesdropping on our conversation.
Theo had been following Roy for the last few days, waiting for the opportunity to catch Roy alone. He needed to gain valuable information on the route the charm would take. He wanted to isolate and drug him so he could get him to talk. He knew he was running out of time, so he was surprised when he heard Roy telling this young man about the route for the charm.
After hearing Roy talk, he asked, confused, “Roy Markz, what are you up to?”
“Why tell this boy so much,” he thought.
He couldn’t figure it out, but he had the information he needed. He quickly sent a message to Alexei with what he had just learned. He also told him about Roy and Khyrum discussing the charm and route. He felt this was weird and needed to be investigated.
Alexei responded that they had what they needed. He told Theo to return and prepare for the mission's start. He didn’t even pay attention to the part about Roy and Khyrum.
Theo wanted to argue with Alexei about this but was cut off by Alexei, so he couldn’t do anything else but return to the safe house.
After Roy and I finished our meal, I told him I wouldn’t see him for the rest of the afternoon but would see him again after the auction. He knew this and didn’t question why. He only said OK, and we parted ways.
It was already 1:30 pm by the time we got done with lunch. I walked over to my hotel and went up to my room.
“I need to be ready by 3,” I told myself.
I messaged Damian, saying I would meet him in front of the auction house at 3 p.m. to prepare for the transport to arrive with the charm. A minute later, I got his response.
“OK.”
Time went by quickly, and at 3 p.m., I exited the hotel through the back. I wore casual clothes, but my battle suit was underneath my clothes.
I walked over to the auction house to wait for Damian. As I arrived, many people were already standing around as if it was a parade.
Suddenly, the people started to cheer and jump & down in an exhilarated way. They began to point to the sky. I looked up only to spot Damian gliding into the central plaza, causing the people to enter a frenzy.
“This freaking guy, did I not say not to show off,” was my first thought.
The only good thing was that all the attention was on him, not me.
This allowed me to walk around freely without worrying about people asking what a 15-year-old was doing by himself at the auction house.
I sent a message to Damian letting him know I was walking down Heritage Drive, the main street leading to the Vintage Auction House, towards the Leedra Palace area, as this was the route the transport would take.
I told him to stay in the auction house in case something happened while I was away.
As I continued to walk, I heard people exclaiming that the transport had taken off.
“Did you hear they are coming,” said one of the persons waiting on the street.
“Yeah, my brother is down at the alliance building, and he just messaged me that the transport just took off; they should be passing through here in about 10 minutes,” said another.
The next ten minutes were the longest I could remember. Something told me to stay alert.
Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted the transport approaching from the left.
“They're here,” cried out one of the onlookers.
Suddenly, BOOOMMM!!!!
A large explosion caused a crater in the middle of the road, stopping the transport from moving forward.
People ran scared and confused away from the street in all directions.
BOOOMMM!!!
Another explosion on the backside of the transport kept the vehicles from moving back. They were trapped.
I could see the alphas guarding the transport, forming a perimeter around it when suddenly, there were two blue electric flashes.
ZAAAAPP!!!!
“Crap, what was that,” I said, surprised.
I saw that most guards and some people still lingering around the transport had been immobilized, lying on the ground, twitching.
That’s when I saw them walk out of one of the buildings, six people, six Alphas, the Night Slayers.
