Chapter 43- Decisions, Decisions

“What do you mean You Can’t,” said Daisy, visibly upset.

“Exactly what I said, I can’t,” I responded.

Mr. Richie seemed to notice that the atmosphere was becoming increasingly hostile, so he tried to calm the situation.

“Khyrum, can you explain why you can’t keep away from this girl?” he asked.

“Yes, it's very simple. We both attend the same school and are even in the same classroom. So, staying completely away will be impossible,” I said with reason.

Mr. Richie soon realized the issue wasn't that I wouldn’t stay away but that we were bound to meet as we were in the same classroom. He didn’t think this would be an issue, but Daisy didn't feel the same way. She was adamant she didn't want me there.

“Well, why don’t you just drop out of school? I don’t think you’ll lose anything,” she said arrogantly.

“You can even ask my husband to get you a job here on the estate; that way, you won't have to go anywhere,” she continued.

After hearing her, I was really considering that offer. I also didn’t think I would miss anything from school, and it would also help me keep a low profile. I could even dedicate more time to my goals, but before I could answer, Ethian jumped in.

“No, he has to go to school; that was one of the things I promised his father,” he said with a determined look.

Daisy wanted to say something, but looking at her husband's face, she could tell there was no changing his mind.

“Very simple then, we can have him change classrooms,” said Elizabeth.

Everyone went silent. It hadn't occurred to them what Elizabeth had just said.

To me, this whole situation was ridiculous. I had no intention of going after Eva, even though I knew I could. But it was not something I wanted to do.

“Why the effort to keep me from this girl?"

"I have no intention of interacting with her, so why keep trying to make something out of nothing,” I said, annoyed.

Ethian looked at Brandon for a second and then at his wife. It was like he was expecting them to answer, but both looked down at the floor in shame.

He just shook his head in disbelief.

“Some negative comments have been made at school by some very ignorant people, and we just don’t want anyone to misunderstand the situation,” said Ethian.

“Comments about me?” I asked, surprised.

“No, not necessarily about you, but some are in reference to you, so we feel it is best to remove you from the equation right now. This would give Brandon a better opportunity to clear the air and pursue Eva more directly,” said Ethian.

So, as usual, they were doing this to help the useless momma’s boy.

“Oh, I get it. It's to help Brandon,” I said sarcastically.

“You motherfu…” started saying Brandon visibly offended, but Ethian quickly jumped in.

“Yes, it is to give my son a better chance, and there is nothing wrong with that. In the future, if you have a similar issue, you can come to me for help,” he said calmly.

Daisy and Brandon just turned red from the embarrassment and anger they were feeling at the moment.

“Well, I can guarantee I'll have nothing to do with this girl, but if you want to move me, that’s fine with me as well.”

“Anything else?” I asked.

Ethan looked at me as if thinking something but soon moved on.

“Yes, I don’t know if you have been keeping up with the news lately,’ he said with a serious face.

“A very powerful charm was discovered in this area just recently.”

“Yes, I’ve heard about it.”

“Well, it took all of us within the Gravitaz group by surprise as it happened right in our backyard without us knowing about it. This makes us look bad, so we are looking into it now. I want you to keep your ears open at school, and if you hear anything about this, you let us know right away,” said Ethian, visibly flustered about the whole thing.

If he only knew that I was the one who created the charm, what would he do?

Would he treat me differently?

It was a good question, but knowing what the rest of the family thought of me, I was not interested in finding out the answer.

“Will do, Mr. Richie,” I said.

“Okay, well, that’s it then. Please get ready to leave for the capital,” he said nonchalantly.

I didn’t feel like staying a minute longer, so I got up and left the living room.

As I was leaving, I could see from the corner of my eye that Brandon’s gaze was fixed on me. It was not a good stare; he genuinely couldn’t hide the envy and hatred in his eyes.

I didn’t care. I just continued to walk back to the guesthouse.

“Well, I need to get everything ready to leave here shortly. I’ll message Roy to let him know I’m also going back to the capital.”

I packed my things and went to the staging area with the house staff and servants.

We took the transport back to Riyadh, landing in the capital a few hours later.

Once I got to the capital estate, I returned to the guesthouse. It was late in the evening, and I was experiencing some fatigue from the travel. I went and got myself some food, and soon after eating, I fell asleep.

My CAD ringing at 6 am woke me from a very comfortable sleep.

“Who the hell can it be so early in the morning?”

My head was still in dreamland when I picked up the call.

“What?” I said, grumpy from being woken up.

“Is that how you answer your girlfriend?” came a soft feminine voice over the phone.

I quickly sobered up. It was Eva on the other side of the line.

“You shouldn’t be calling at this hour to wake up a sleeping goof like myself, you know we need at least 8 hours of sleep to grow normally,” I said jokingly.

“Oh please, you grow normal, ha? You’re the opposite of normal,” she fired back.

We chatted for the next 10 minutes.

Our conversation was so normal, that it both scared and excited me. But soon, I remembered what I had promised Mr. Richie.

“Eva, we can’t continue to talk like this."

"I promised Mr. Richie that I wouldn’t get in between you and Brandon,” I said with some guilt, as I knew this was not what she wanted to hear.

There was a long silence on the line before Eva finally spoke up.

“I don’t care what you promised anyone, Khyrum. I’m my own person, and I will see whoever I want to see,” she said defiantly.

“I understand, but Mr. Richie was the only person who treated me nicely since I was left alone. I don’t want to repay him with enmity."

"Rather, I would like us to be two people who met at the wrong time and not two people who end up regretting the future. I think it's best if we keep our distance, Eva,” I said, sad.

I could hear Eva’s erratic breathing on the other side of the call. She was upset.

“I refuse,” was the only thing she said before hanging up.

Sighing, I only hoped she would reconsider her course of action.

It was already time to get up and get ready for school.

After showering and getting dressed, I went to the kitchen in the main house to ask the chef for a breakfast plate.

Thida was busy cooking, but she stopped when I walked in.

“How are you, kid?” she said with some concern.

“I’m good, Thida. Nothing that they haven’t said before," I said, still a little down.

She looked at me for a minute, trying to assure herself that I was not hiding anything.

“Good, well, sit down and get something to eat,” she said as she put some very scrumptious food options on the table.

Without hesitation, I sat down, picked up a plate, and filled it with food.

I don't know if it was due to still being a little depressed, but that food tasted like it was made in heaven.

I then proceeded to walk to school. On the way, I received a message from the front office on my PLE.

It just said to report to the office once I got to school.

“Man, they are moving fast to make sure Brandon does not screw up, I guess,” I thought as I walked to school.

I reported to the office as soon as I got to the school. As expected, the front office told me I had been moved from my original room and was now reporting to room 6E.

The rest of the morning proceeded like usual in my new homeroom under my new teacher, Mrs. Rashita Lish.

I didn’t take lunch as I had eaten breakfast that morning, so during my lunch hour, I went to the library to look at other books to research.

As lunch was ending, I exited the library. I was about to take the hallway back to the training area, as that was my next class when a very sweet but tense feminine voice called out from behind me.

“So, this is where you've been hiding?

I turned around to find Eva standing about 3 feet behind me.

“I have been going crazy looking for you this morning,” she said.

I wanted to say something, but I had no words.

She walked up to me and stopped only inches from my face.

“I was worried about you,” she said before kissing me.
