Chapter 20- I can't laugh?

“What the hell do I do now? “

“I can’t show up to the strike team assessment exam like this.”

“I’m going to kill someone if I’m not careful with this new skill,”

I kept thinking about these things when I returned to the Richie Estate in Riyadh.

I was so excited about having just picked up a new skill that I forgot how long it took me to master the first two. I had to practice hard for almost two years in the forests of Rayong to master the DSS and Wind Technique Skills finally. Like a dumbass, and without thinking of the repercussions, I just blatantly decided to add a new skill.

Now, here I am with this new Golden Body Enhancement technique.

To make matters worse, I’m unsure how strong this new technique is or what it enhances. I know it enhances some of my attributes, but which ones?

It can’t be all of them, can it?

Also, does it enhance my other two skills, and to what degree or percentage?

These were just a few questions that were floating in my head right now.

“Man, what do I do? I know I can't go the strike team tryouts as I am right now.” I told myself.

I thought of a way to solve this as I got to my guesthouse. There had to be a way.

My thoughts were if I could check myself to see how much I screwed up, maybe I could find a way of controlling part of the power to help me in the strike team tryouts.

“I can't let this tryout go; I need the money from the endorsements and competitions,” I said.

“If I remember correctly, there should be some testing equipment in the Phys Ed building where Mr. Warnick’s office is located,” I mumbled.

“I can use the excuse of following up with him to try and gain access to some of the machines. Maybe I can convince Mr. Warnick to teach me how they work.”

“If I want to get ahead in this world, I need to make money and lots of it,” I reminded myself.

I couldn’t let this set me back.

“I can let this little setback hold me back; no, tomorrow, I’ll find a way to turn this in my favor.”

I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn’t realize when I fell asleep.

The following day, I got up to shower, brushed my teeth, and put on my uniform. I headed out the door and made my way to school.

“All right, K. We need to be progressive today, as we don’t have much time to fix this before the strike team tryouts,” I told myself.

It was Friday already, so this gave me two weeks before the tryouts.

As I got to school, I headed to my first-period class. The teacher had yet to show up, and only Theo was inside the classroom.

“Theo, good morning,” I said.

Theo was an okay student, about 5’5”, with a stocky build. His face was pear-shaped, with thin lips, a hooked nose, and a chiseled jaw. His eyes were round but elongated. His most distinguishing feature was his hair, which was orange-brown. This was a distinguishing trait of the Ramis Family.

Theo’s father was Walter Ramis, the zone commander under the Gravitaz Group for Battlezone 3.

“Good morning to you, Khyrum,” responded Theo.

“Hey, Theo, are you trying out for this year's strike team? I’m sure you will make it with your skills if you try,” I said casually.

“I considered it, but my father told me to hold off. He said he was putting his on-strike team together in a few months and wanted me to be part of it.”

“Oh, that makes sense, I guess,” I said when suddenly the door opened, and Eva stepped in.

She was dressed in a very form-fitting high school uniform.

I hadn’t seen it on any other girls before, so there is a good chance she had it tailor-made when she started.

As she walked in, she scanned the room from side to side. Finally, she let out a sigh of relief.

“Good, he isn’t here yet,” she said to herself in a low voice.

I looked at her with a smirk on my face.

“I wonder who she is referring to,” I said, fully aware that she was referring to Brandon.

I couldn’t help but laugh at the thought.

She must have heard me as she turned around and looked at me with a glint of frustration.

“You!” she said as she pointed at me.

“Me?” I said in a confused tone while pointing at myself with my hand.

“Yes, you. Why are you laughing? Am I funny looking or what?” she said with a smirk.

I was going to say something when I heard another voice chime in.

“Can't he laugh or what? Do you control the laughter in our classroom?” came a cold voice from the door.

Eva spun around after hearing the words, only to find two angry-looking girls standing in the doorway.

Cora and Yara had also come in early, trying to catch Khyrum alone. They never expected to get to the classroom and walk in on this conversation of someone trying to talk down to Khyrum.

If it were a guy, maybe they would have watched how it progressed for a bit, but a girl, no way!

Cora wasn’t going to have it—not one bit. She wanted to run in and punch Eva in her tiny little nose. If Yara hadn’t held her back, she probably would have.

“Listen, good skank, if I ever hear you talk to Khyrum again like that, me and you are going to have a real big problem,” said Cora, spewing fire from her eyes.

At the word skank, Eva’s eyes grew wide in shock.

“Who the hell are you calling skank, you cheap whore. I can talk to anyone however I want,” said Eva, visibly upset.

Both girls seemed like they were seconds away from getting physical.

Suddenly, another voice rang out from beyond the door.

“Goodness, it sounds like a bunch of filthy sailors talking in here,” said the teacher, Mr. Ranya.

Both girls quickly settled down after hearing the teacher.

“If I had been but a few minutes later, I am sure I would have walked into a physical altercation between you two,” she said to Cora and Eva.

“What issue caused two of my better students to want to come to blows?” she continued.

Both girls just kept quiet. Neither wanted to speak.

“Oh, so it seems it’s a male issue then,” said the teacher with some surprise.

She looked around but didn’t see Brandon anywhere.

“Hmm, he is not even here, and he can still cause these girls to fight over him,” thought Mr. Ranya.

“OK, since no one is going to talk, how about you join me after school so we can discuss this better in detention?” she said to both girls.

Both girls looked hesitant, but they didn’t say anything. They only nodded in agreement before going to their desks.

I looked at them and couldn’t help but feel a tinge of regret for both, but I had other things to deal with today, so I didn’t want to waste time with foolish behavior.

The class started to fill up as the start time was fast approaching. During this time, I kept my focus on my book, pretending not to notice, but I could sense both girls looking at me occasionally. I knew they wanted me to look at them, but I was not about to.

One of the last ones to enter was Brandon. He is a glory hog, so as soon as he walked into the room, he made himself the center of attention.

“Good morning, everyone,” he said in a very rumbustious tone.

“So everyone knows the strike team will have tryouts in two weeks. I will be taking part in this, so I expect all of you to support me when the time comes,” he said as he looked around the room.

Most students didn’t like him, but since he belonged to one of the most influential families, they all wanted to curry favor with him.

After most of the students nodded in agreement, he started to go to his seat. On his way to his seat, his eyes caught Khyrum, who was not even looking up. He had completely ignored him as he walked in.

“Who does this fucker think he is to be ignoring me,” he said, grinding his teeth.

“Does he think he is special?”

“I’ll get with Dad when he gets back to make his life a living hell,” he mumbled as he kept giving Khyurm the death stare.
