Target

Solum (30.11.9978 AS)

I walk right behind Tristan as we enter the classroom, today as now days usual we rode our bicycles to school, but unlike we always do, we did so in silence. Ever since, he ran onto that beauty in front of that shop, he’s been acting all strange.

Back then he wasn’t only rude towards the girl and her companions, but also to me! He pulled me by the hands almost ripping of my arms, trying to run away from that girl. When I asked why he did so, he just responded to me that we’re going back home for today and so our date has ended.

I’m still quite mad at him for ending such a wonderful Sunday like that. I mean, I don’t always get the change to spend my time with someone that shares the same interests as I do, just for the sake of hanging out and not for learning.

I’ll make sure to get an apology out of him. Yeah, that’s something I could live with! I don’t know him for that long, but I get the feeling I can gauge his character quite well by now and apologies aren’t his forte, that’s for sure! Fors, will it fun to tease and apology out of him!

“Are you ok?”

Laura’s greeting brings to the real world, without realizing it, I have walked to my place.

“I’m fine.”

I try to reassure, though I really am not. Yesterday, I spent the whole night thinking what could have caused Tristan to react that way. I came up with countless theories about what could have happened to him, but none of the seemed plausible, except for three.

Number one, he fell head over heels in love with that girl, and didn’t know how to react. I mean she was extremely beautiful, so beautiful I almost fell for her… Although, I know it’s the most plausible of the three theories I don’t want that theory to be true, also Tristan is too secure to be intimidated by that girl, so he wouldn’t react that way if was in love with her, also we are still kids!

The next theory I came up with is that the man behind the girl was his long lost father! I mean, I know from Laura they live with their aunt because their father left the family and their mother died soon after. Maybe, just maybe, that man was there with his new family and this caused Tristan to react that way!

I like that theory, especially since it doesn’t contain indecent actions from Tristan’s part. Also that man had a really strong mana signature just like Tristan and Laura, that’s what makes this theory so viable.

The last theory is probably the one most childish of them, I don’t even know why I don’t dismiss it like the others and put it as high as the other two… The theory contains me actually being the daughter of one of the Elder ruling Solum and that Tristan was sent by the government to protect me, because those evil goons after my life!

Fors, just thinking about that theory is embarrassing… All just wishful thinking from my side, but no matter what, I just can’t bring myself to dismiss this theory, deep down I hope that this theory is true.

“Are you sure? Well, whatever you probably had an awesome weekend, didn’t you?”

“Yeah, yesterday I had so much fun, until a certain someone had to kill the mood.” I glare towards Tristan when I speak these words, causing Laura to look suspicious between the two of us.

“Erm, what happened, why are you glaring at Trist, as if he was that certain someone… No! Don’t tell me he actually is the mood killer!” Laura looks clearly astonished.

“Hey Trist, I thought you wouldn’t do mean things to girls, especially when they are my friends!” Laura stands up and slams her hands on Tristan’s desk.

Tristan unimpressed between Laura and me and then he sights.

“Sorry, I didn’t pay attention to your little chat earlier, what’s this fuss about?”

“Yesterday you did something mean to Ai! And now she’s sad! Didn’t I tell you not to disturb my friends?!”

I can feel all the eyes in the classroom are now glued on us!

“Thanks to whom do you think she was having so much fun yesterday?” Tristan shows a fearless smile towards the Fury that has become out of Laura.

“…”

“Yesterday, me and Ai were having fun all through the city, but then we had a really displeasing meeting with people we rather not meet, at least not yet.” Tristan explains with a calm voice.

“You mean, you two were on a date?”

“Not a date, we were just hanging out as the good friends we are.” Tristan sends me a gentle smile.

Why did I just cringe a little as I heard these words? Anyways, this approves the second theory I had; he probably met his dad’s new family and freaked out. Damn it! Knowing this I can’t probably tease an apology out of him!

Laura walks backs to her seat and slumps into her seat like a potato bag.

“Every time you disappeared from home, you were with her, weren’t you?” asks the pale Laura with a tiny voice.

“What can I say, you got me, I was hanging out with her all the time.” Tristan says with an embarrassed voice.

I feel myself blushing as the whole class breaks into a commotion, as they hear Tristan’s words.

“Sorry, for yesterday!” Tristan’s bows towards me while apologizing with an earnest voice.

By Fors, I just want to vanish into a cave in the Sol-Mountains.

“I don’t know what this commotion is all about, but class is about to start, so please return to your seats.” The teacher said as she entered the room.

Arcadia (25.11.9978 AS) (Seraph’s main base on Terra)

Dietrich was in his office standing in front of Viktor and Sariel. “I hope you know of the threat the Elder present for our race.” He said with a powerful voice, causing the two youngsters to nod rapidly.

“So, I suppose you know what the goal of outposts like this one is?” Both nodded once again.

“Very well.” Dietrich gave a satisfied smile.

“You probably have already heard of the Wild Elder spotted in the City of Solum, yesterday we had the luck to run into him while showing her highness the city. Obviously we couldn’t apprehend him back then to avoid bringing the princess in danger, but now that we know the area he frequents it won’t take long till we get him.”

Dietrich showed them a serious expression. “That’s where you come to play. Both of you will get to lead a team of 20 recruits to command, with these forces I’m sure it won’t be hard for you to apprehend or to eliminate him.”

Viktor and Sariel saluted as they received their orders. “Yes, sir we, won’t fail you.” Both replied in unison.

“Very, well” Dietrich once again gave a satisfied smile. “If you need something, I’ll be off taking care of her highness.” Dietrich said as he left the room.

“Finally, finally a chance for Clair to see my might in action!” Viktor exclaimed happily and also left the room.

“Vicky wait for me!” Sariel exclaimed as she left the room, leaving it seemingly empty, seemingly since there was another person in the room, someone none of them had noticed Clair. She had used her invisibility spell to follow Dietrich wherever he went to prank him.

But now all her zest for pranks and mayhem had been lost. ‘Did Dietrich really give the orders to kill someone? No that can’t be!... But I heard it for myself... They want to kill him, the rude boy…’ She started trembling as she realized what her ‘friends’ were about to do.

‘Pathetic, I shouldn’t be trembling over things like that, it’s not like missions were games anyways.’ She started hugging herself. “I knew all along, missions are no child’s play.” She started whispering over and over again.
