Cousins II

Nocturnio (27.06.9981 AS)

After having Leo cast first help spells on Laura, she was brought to the infirmary by Miss Doctri and Ernesti.

“What have I done?” Tristan kept repeating, while he slowly walked towards the exit of the arena. Every step felt heavier than usual, and the few meters he had to walk felt to him like an eternity.

Although, he had already deactivated the spell on his eyes, he still felt like Abigail was running in slow-motion towards him.

“Trist, Trist, what was that?” Abigail asked in an anxious tone. “It looked like you lost it there for a second. To be honest, you looked quite scary you were emitting so much killing intent! You could even feel it from where I was sitting. Actually, I couldn’t move until big bro, brought you back to reality.”

“What was I about to do?” Tristan whispered and continued walking completely ignoring Abigail.

“Hey, where are you going? Are you going to look for her? Are you going to her, just to forget what you did? I know, she always just says what you want to hear, but don’t you think it is time to face reality? You are still hurting; because of the thing with Nana am I right?” Abigail said with tears in her eyes.

Tristan finally stopped and turned towards, he tilted his head slowly. “Shut up.” He said with tears in his eyes and continued walking towards the exit of the arena, leaving the petrified Abigail behind.

**Slap**

Tristan felt a stinging pain on his left cheek as he walked out of the arena, bringing him back from his trance like state.

“What was that all about?” He could feel a warm, familiar female voice say to him. “And, here I thought, you couldn’t go more emo, than you already were! Well, I guess, I was wrong.”

In front of Tristan was Sabrina, wearing the same gear he had seen soldiers stationed in Lilith, wear.

“What about a coffee?” Sabrina said with a cheerful smile.

“Leave me alone, I’m not in the mood to talk with an air-head right now.” Tristan said and tried to go pass Sabrina, who once again stepped in front of him.

“You won’t get away from me so easily. I’ll give you two options, either you come with me voluntary or I make you come with me.” She said in a, for her strangely serious tone.

“I’d like to see you trying to catch me.” Tristan said once again activating his eyes enhancement magic.

“It’s not like I didn’t warn you-“ Before Sabrina could finish her warning, Tristan disappeared from sight.

Tristan had enhanced his whole body with his mana and had started running from Sabrina with unbelievable speed. A speed no demon should be able to match.

“Aunty, you sure owe me one.” Sabrina said to herself and also disappeared from the place she had been standing.

Seemingly without any effort, she had managed to match Tristan’s speed. No, using matched is wrong here, since she had managed to top Tristan’s speed, as incredible as it sounds.

‘How, how can she move that fast?’ Tristan thought, as he saw Sabrina catching up with him in an unbelievable speed. ‘How do you like this?’ He thought and opened a gate in front of him, ready to enter his laboratory.

But-

Before he could enter his gate, he was grabbed by Sabrina and hurled over her head, causing to land on his back.

“Got ya!” She whispered in his ears as she bore her knees into Tristan’s rips. “Are you now ready to talk?”

“Leave me alone, let go of me.” Tristan tried to break free from Sabrina.

“If you agree to talk to me, I’ll let you go.”

“Like hell, I’ll agree to your-”

Tristan’s protest was stopped by Sabrina, repositioning her knee making it almost impossible for Tristan to breath.

“What’s happening here?” – “Dunno, that old chick, just started attacking that kid over there.” The students that had heard and seen Tristan’s rough landing whispered to each other.

“Like I said, would you like to have a coffee with me?” Sabrina said with a fake smile.

Tristan nodded hysterically.

“Do you Tristan Halblicht swear on your live, you won’t run away and actually listen to what I have to say?” Sabrina asked while pouring her magic into the gemstone on her bracelet. The bracelet started shining and a magic circle snuggled between Sabrina and Tristan.

“I swear I’ll listen to what you, Sabrina Kuro, have to say today the 27th June 9981.” Tristan answered in a crackling tone. The light emitting from the gemstone shone brighter and entered both of their bodies.

“Awesome!” Sabrina did let go of Tristan and clapped happily with her hands. “How about the Mitternacht next to the front gate?”

“If you insist.” Tristan said in a slightly shocked and sad voice.

“You know I was on Terra up until this morning, but I came straight to see you once I got my first break.” Sabrina said waving her arms around. “I wanted to come ever since aunty told me what happened to Nana and Siegfried. I wasn’t allowed to leave my mission in Terra thought, so I had to wait until I came to visit you.

And the first thing I see, when I get here is you going all emo and almost killing one of your friends and being an ass to the other.” Sabrina said in an accusing tone and pointed at Tristan.

“…” Tristan didn’t even spare her a look and kept staring at the untouched cup of coffee in front of him.

“You know, instead of shoving your friends away from you, you should try to get along with them better. I can’t begin to imagine in how much pain you must be right now, but you shouldn’t try to bear it all by yourself! I bet your friends, would be more than happy if you asked them for help. And if they don’t want to, you can always come to me. This big sis will always hear you out and help you out.” Sabrina said with a big smile on her face and took a sip of her iced coffee.

“You… you just admitted it, you said you don’t have a clue how I feel, so why should I listen to someone like you?” Tristan said gritting his teeth.

**Sigh**

Sabrina showed him an exhausted expression. “From your behavior all I can take is that you just want to run away. Run from all the pain they have caused you, you want to hide from it, but let me tell you one thing; you can’t hide. As much as you run you can’t hide from it, it will always find and get you! And if there is one thing I know, is that once it gets you it will be more painful than it was.”

“…” Tristan once again turned his gaze to his untouched cup of coffee.

“You see, if you confront that pain now, one day you’ll be able to be free. Live a life without of the fear-“

“Living without fear? Like I can do that! You know who ordered to kill Nana and Siegfried, right? It was the same people that ordered my disposal once they heard my prophecy! How am I supposed to know they won’t come and get me any minute now?” Tristan said, tears filling his eyes.

“You know, ever since they killed her before my eyes, the only time I feel safe enough to drop my defenses and sleep is when I’m with Ai…” Tristan wiped the tears from his face. “You know how many nights I keep staring at the doors hoping that despicable woman doesn’t come to get me! How many times I wish to wake up from this nightmare, but nothing happens?” Tristan took a deep breath.

“So, that proves my point. You need people to get you through this, or do you want to live your life hiding from them?”

“What if I choose to hide, that’s what I can best after all.”

**Slap**

Once again Sabrina slapped Tristan. “If you can’t even outrun me, how can you hope to escape and hide from them? And let me tell you something just between the two of us.”

Even thought, she had already cast a spell that wouldn’t allow people to hear their words before they started talking; Sabrina leaned slowly towards Tristan and whispered.

“After analyzing your situation, I came to the conclusion that it’s too late for you. You are way too deep in something big, something so big I can’t even grasp its size. Something crazy big, something that might change this world forever! And once that something starts rolling you’ll be one of the people right in the middle and believe me, you don’t want to be unprepared when that something starts rolling.”

“But that’s just my hunch.” Sabrina said, dropping her serious face and talking normally once again, starting at the petrified Tristan.

“You know, if you keep behaving like you have been, you’ll be all alone once that something kicks in and you won’t survive it even for a second, but if you behave like a good boy even I might stand at your side.” Sabrina winker her left eye to Tristan, gave him a genuine smile and stood up.

“Well, that’s all I had to say for now. If you should change your mind and want me to help you all you have my contact right?” Sabrina pointed at her Commu and left the shop.
