Harsch Truth

Lux  (29.10.9978 AS)

Clair took a sip from her Team. “ Soooo, you guys were sent by Bella to look after me, because she thought I might lose my mind if I don’t have someone to talk to in this world?” Clair asked in disbelief after hearing out Gabe’s and Helles explanation.

Gabe nodded. “Yes, Bella told us how much you’re suffering without having anyone in your daily life that treats like a “normal” Seraph. So we offered to help you out. “ –“ Don’t look at me, I’m just here because Bella ordered me to.”  Helles butted in, while she put down the empty cookie jar on the table.

“So you’re just gonna babysit me like all the other bodyguards and maids I already have?”  Clair asked with a sad voice adding. “I expected more from Bella.”

“It seems like you misunderstood.” Gabe responded.  “The only thing we will do is spend time with you.”  -“And with ‘WE’ he means ‘ME’”  Helles pointed at herself, as she said with a disapproving voice.

“Well,... Bella said you don’t like to be treated as the crown princess, so there must be nothing more satisfying for you than talking to someone that does see you as nothing more than an insect.”

Helles nodded in agreement just to stop abruptly. “Hey! Don’t act like I’m a bitch!” She smacked Gabe in the back of his head. “If you don’t like it to be treated as a bitch, then don’t act like one!”

“hahahahh”  Clair laughed wholeheartedly, like she had just witnessed a comedy skit. “You guys are funny! I think I’m gonna enjoy our time together!”

After the meeting with the Bards Clair finally had time for herself. Usually she would use that time to just sit all gloomy and drown herself in a good book to forget her day. But strangely enough, she wasn’t doing so right now.

It was the first time since she had met Bella that she enjoyed her day in the world of mortals. It was the first time, she willingly recalled her day. She couldn’t help but smile as she remembered the comedy show Gabe and Helles had shown her.

‘Next, time I see Bella I’ll have to thank her properly.  That woman, Helles seems like an interesting fellow, who doesn’t bother to tell people her opinion. She’s pretty much the person I need in my life.

***Knock Knock***

Kayle entered the room without even waiting for an answer.  “Did something good happen today?” She asked as she looked towards Clair with a surprised expression on her face.  Usually she would find an edgy Clair reading a fantasy novel or a thriller trying to forget her day, but this time Kayle found the Clair happily reading a Rom-Com.

“Nothing.” Clair answered with a shy voice.

“Really? Well, you once said you don’t like Rom-Com because books are your way of leaving this reality and finding peace in far off worlds, where all your worldly problems seem so small.”

Clair put on a grimace. ‘That’s what you get, when your nanny has a degree and psychology and pedagogy. She always figures me out if I want it or not.’

“You got me. I made some new friends today. And when I say friends I actually mea people I can stand and treat me like an ordinary Seraph.”

“Good for you!” Kayle gave Clair a warm smile.  “I always knew you could make friends if you tried to!”

“What does that mean? It’s not my fault that most of the people treat me like a goddess! – I just can’t get to like people like that! They just want to be next to me because of my position and not because of who I am!”  Clair pointed at herself as she said those words with disgust.

“And who might you be? A spoiled brat, that thinks she can mistreat people just because she’s a princess? Excuse me, but I’ve known you since your birth and to be honest, I don’t know what I or your mother did wrong with you!”

Kayle watched as Clair turned redder and redder. “You see without being a princess you would just be a spoiled edgy brat that thinks she can mistreat people as she pleases.  A loner that does realize she’s being mean to other people trying their best to befriend her!”

“No... I’m not an edgy brat! It... It’s your entire fault for treating me like a goddess.” Clair pointed  her fingers accusingly towards Kayle. “If no one treated me like a goddess, I wouldn’t be so ‘edgy’ all the time!”

Clair crossed her arms in front of her chest.  “Yeah, think about it! The only thing I keep complaining about is people treating me like I was something special, but I’m not special!  I’m just an ordinary Seraph like anybody else!”

Kayle rolled her eyes. “Are you the only one that does not understand that you ARE special!? You posses magical talent unheard of! Your magical power should be able to rival the power of Light Empress Helles Licht! You are the only seraph that not only can use white magic, but also dark magic!”

Kayle stopped to take a deep breath.  “Don’t you realize that most of us ‘ordinary’ Seraphs take your constant complaining about how ‘awefull your life is as a form of humble bragging? Any girl on Lux would love to change places with you. Being one day the prodigy that is the crown princess! That’s the dream of many, and you go on every day and step on that dream like it’s nothing to you!”

Kayle and Clair had often some arguments, but Kayle had never gone that far. Up until now everything could have been seen as harmless teasing, but this time she was scolding like she had never done.

Fighting with the tear on her eyes Clair tried to answer to Kayles accusations. “I’m not a goddess. I’m just a mortal. If you see me as someone close to being a goddess you hav-“

Kayle didn’t let her end her phrase. “It’s obvious to everyone here that you aren’t a goddess.  But you’re still a person with a lot of influence and power, so it’s obvious that people are gonna treat you with awe and respect. Or do you think that a normal Seraph your age would be able to force Dietrich to fight using half of his streght?”

Not being able to contain her tears, Clair looked towards Kayle that continued ranting about how she should feel bad hating her life.

Looking towards the shivering girl Kayle finally realized that she had gone too far.  “I know the truth sometimes hurts my little angel.” She said as she hugged Clair and wiped her tears.  “But you know, sometimes someone has to pull you back to reality. One day you’ll understand.”

‘This is how I felt when I first met Bella. Yeah, back then I was a bossy child and Bella showed me that I'm just a normal kid. She told me something similar like Kayle did right now. She told me that I was just a mortal and shouldn't act like being a goddess... So I started to despise people treating me like one. But it's obvious they'll treat someone as special as me like a goddess since they've never seen a real one!’

Clair hugged tighter onto Kayle. 'But Kayle is right, even if I'm just a mortal, I'm a special mortal in comparison to all other mortals and I should act like someone in my position. I have to learn to deal with it. But it's still so hard to smile for ignorant people. I guess I'll just have to try to endure.’
