Chapter 50: Genius Virus

Chapter 50: Genius Virus

His father was Li Du!

John opened his eyes and found himself in a hospital. John shouldn't have known that his father was Li Du. But he did.

Du had hidden deeply when the sect was under attack. As a nascent soul, it is trivial to change ones appearance and hide among the mortals.

Being a cultivator makes living in the regular world a breeze. Li Du had hidden himself well and lived among normal humans.

His wife was a mortal. John had been born without spiritual roots! He however didn't know this fact. The reason he could see through the disguise of his father was simply due resonance.

John had spent a lot of time experimenting on Du.

John noticed right away that something was wrong.

"I wanted to make my intelligence average. I wanted a challenge... why is everything so clear?"

John still felt his thinking clearly. He felt as if he had no limits even now.

John focused on his origin and time froze as he spent years of processing power looking for the problem.

"I see! So that's it!"

"This feeling is due to the carrier of my consciousness being independent. I am not relying on the brain of my body."

"I'll need to change that."

John began to manipulate his consciousness down at the tiniest level.

His consciousness collapsed into itself as the world began to shift for him. Things became dull. He could hardly think at all.

He could barely see. Before, everything was so clear and brilliant.

He was a genius.

Now...

His consciousness was relying on his brain! John felt himself disconnect from his Origin as this body finally attained a dependent consciousness.

It relied on his brain.

John felt a unique feeling.

"Weakness! Amazing! It has been so long..."

John tried to look at his surroundings now. But he could hardly move his body.

"I have a few goals for this life."

"My hopes aren't too high... I simply need to reach the peak of all existence and consume the universe!"

Time was flowing again. Every thought took a lot of energy at this moment in John's life.

"My second goal- So tired..."

John passed out.

He woke up in a room filled with other babies.

John waved his hands...

"So hungry..."

"Now is the perfect time to start cultivating!"

"I don't feel anything... my father is a nascent soul. Don't tell me... I lack spiritual roots?!"

The months went by and John felt like an absolute idiot. It had been a long time since he had relied on using his brain. Even before becoming a origin. He was used to using his will to carry his consciousness. It was a bit more complex then the brain.

It was like trying to play your favorite game on a computer from decades ago. He felt an almost itch like feeling at his core.

If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

It was as if what he was doing was taboo in a sense...

Being a baby meant that John was essentially useless for a few years. This left him with a lot of time to think about his situation.

"I am a mortal with nothing special about me..."

"But I am also secretly the creator of this universe."

"Think! THINK! What method is there to reach the top? There is always a way..."

"That's right... this universe is special. I created a pagoda with habitable layers that stretched billions of kilometers. The core!"

"The core is the key. I need to reach the core of this universe."

"There lies the yin and yang that generate all of the spiritual energy."

"But I am only a baby...I need to focus on surviving until I am a child at least."

"This world lacks technology. That's it! The godkiller race."

John's thinking was slow and he felt dumb. But his mind raced as fast as his biological brain allowed.

"This world lacks cerebium and other elements needed to augment the brain or soul."

"I'll have to do something new..."

A tornado of information rotated around in John's sea of consciousness of this body.

John felt like he was grasping onto something. But then the tornado shattered.

"I... I don't remember... all of the schematics. I only have fragments!"

"That settles it. My first plan is to become... a GENIUS!"

In this body John's intelligence was average. He had memories of his past feats. But he was a shadow of his former self while in this body.

It was slightly ironic. This is a similar situation he would've found himself in if he failed to engrave his memories on the quantum level over his body when Zero wiped him out.

He had through his own will experienced such weakness.

So how does one become a genius when your brain is no different from the average person? Drugs!

What type of drugs? Stimulants!

John needed to somehow concoct a type of drug never before seen. A stimulant that not only speeds up your nervous systems reactions. But also one that enhances memory and recall.

John began to sort through the many years of memories he had. This drug didn't exist in his database. He also didn't have a solid 'database'. Things were vague and foggy. Every second he was losing priceless information.

He was like an information whitehole.

But he had so many experiences that it would take a long time to lose them all.

His brain was already under heavy stress. John was using everything he had for this. He was a baby. But formulas and drugs and case studies were flashing through his mind at blinding speeds.

"Rabies..."

As John spent months eating, sleeping, shitting himself rinse and repeat. He was also concocting a drug that would make him a genius.

There is a major problem with using stimulants.

While they can increase alertness, attention, and energy. They can also lead to impaired decision making, heart problems, and psychosis.

John wasn't making a simple stimulant. He was making a virus.

He called the virus 'The Insanity Virus'.

As it would make the person a genius for a day and then kill them.

All of the steps needed to make the drug were in his mind. It was a virus similar to rabies that would cause inflammation of the spinal cord and brain.

This wasn't a good thing. He would need to evolve the virus until it became what he named 'The Extreme Sanity Virus'.

John would obviously need some experiment subjects. His father was pretending to be a simple farmer. When John was three years old he came up to his father who was outside harvesting rice.

"Li Du!"

His father froze.

"It's me... Kai!"

The demeanor of Du changed in an instant. He then saluted John and spoke:

"I knew it! I wasn't crazy after all..."

John laughed.

"I'm doing an experiment. I need you to cut out the farming. Become a doctor... I have a plan."

"A doctor huh? Give me a year."

John's mother was surprised to see Du focus so intently on studying. Cultivators have excellent memory. It was a breeze to pass all the exams and get into the proper school.

But it would take half a decade for Du to become a certified doctor.

Technology wasn't too advanced... but a lot was known about the human body.

By the time John was eight years old. He had his own lab. Well, truthfully it was Du's. But John used it for his experiments.

He developed The Insanity Virus. He specifically made it so it couldn't spread on its own. It would require blood to blood contact. Or an injection.

During recess at school. John would infect his classmates with the virus. When they started to show symptoms. They would go to the local hospital.

Du collected all the data on their condition.

Things didn't go as John suspected. The first batch of students reported savant like abilities. But they had fatal insomnia. They all died within a week.

John obviously would need more then a week of being a 'savant'. So he continued to spread the virus and document the changes.

He cultivated not himself. But different versions of the virus.

When he was ten years old.

He held a needle in his hand.

"I will be taking 'the extreme sanity virus'. Along with this brain stabilizer."

"There are a few issues..."

John had killed most of his classmates to make it this far. But he felt it worthwhile.

The issues he recognized was that if someone were to get contaminated with his blood. They would become a genius! But they would die within a few days.

John had made an 'antidote' to the virus that prevented the swelling of the nervous system.

He didn't know if he had perfected this yet. But he couldn't exactly test it out randomly. He had gone through all of his 'test subjects' at school.

It was time for him to use it on himself.

"Not everything can be perfect! Great risk... great reward."

He stabbed the needle into his arm and injected himself with the contents.

He then took the stabilizer pill.

What he felt next...
