Generally, a mortal has a brand on their soul that is the reason for their rank.

A supreme being often has a law or multiple laws.

As for true existence? It was more mysterious then 'will'.

John planned for each of his talents to be powerful.

John had learned many secrets from opening up his soul. He had the framework needed to create the proper layers for his true existence.

As he was constructing the second layer on his true existence.

There were a few major problems he noticed right away. Firstly, since he was creating a new system. He lacked a source to pull from.

But that concept no longer existed at the moment.

Even Invulnis lost his first two abilities. Luckily, his soul adjusted and pointed to another existence.

Without a proper energy source. John wouldn't be able to progress further.

Think of it this way, let's say that John's rank was based on his true existence. Because it was so weak. It followed the rules of the universe.

When had John ever been someone to blindly follow rules?

Energy and matter. It can be neither created or destroyed.

It can only change form. It took 80 hours to design the first layer over his true existence. He then needed to fill the gaps with energy.

His foundation was based on soul. This is what allowed him to tweak his ability and make it so he could copy other peoples soul temporarily.

As John created the 2nd layer over his true existence. He noticed right away that the soul essence he had injected into this layer. It was draining! He would never reach rank 2 this way.

John then got an idea.

He would make the 2nd layer the outermost layer.

"I plan on surpassing the cosmic order!"

Why use other peoples energy? He was going to create something beyond a concept.

What would he call this level?

It would be called Origin.

He would become the true Origin of Calamity!

There were many laws and concepts out there. But there was no origins.

John would be the first! So why stop there? Why not use an energy that he created himself?

John entered a research frenzy as he studied his true existence along with his soul.

To understand what he was trying to accomplish. You must first know the problem he was facing.

It was energy! He needed a substance that could give him infinite power. He couldn't use soul essence for his rank 2 advancement.

As things were now, when he put energy into his second layer. It leaked.

It would also decay. He needed a material that could serve as a shield for his true existence.

John planned to create his own energy/substance.

He needed his existence to be in harmony. The new energy he created needed to be able to loop and generate power to keep his true existences powers on.

John named his new energy 'source'.

To prevent conflicts... Basically, to stop the layers from blending together so soon. John needed a different form of energy for every rank.

That would be a problem. He could for example. Use Qi for a rank, mana for a rank, aura for a rank, etc.

But that wasn't his style. Right now he had access to a massive amount of aura. An entire planets worth. There were also other planets far away with it as well.

Source was made up of three things.

The first ingredient is aura.

The second ingredient is spiritual energy.

Where did he get this energy from? From the stash of runic rings he had pocketed while working on the trial.

There was then the final ingredient that was the most expensive.

It luckily only needed to be used once.

The ingredient was a fifth of the corpse of his concept. It was the 'Generator' section.

This would make his true existence capable of duplicating energy. Basically, he wouldn't drop his existence when he ran out of power.

It would allow his energy to automatically recharge.

There also wouldn't be any leaks of energy.

This material was the perfect for being the shield over his true existence.

John filled up six out of nine pools with condensed aura. He then took the runic rings and extracted the main elements from them.

He got wood, fire, earth, metal, and water energy.

After mixing it with the aura. The pools began to change color.

He had six pools filled.

John had discovered a game changing use of aura. When contaminated by a small amount of his former concept.

It became negative aura.

He soon had negative source. This was a pleasant surprise. It was able to nullify supernatural power.

There was a pool full of green liquid, another filled with red, another with yellow, another with white, and another with blue.

You then had the pool full of negative source. This was the most toxic and dangerous substance John had ever made. It could strip a supreme being down into a mortal by itself.

Unfortunately, there was a limited amount and he couldn't waste it on fighting gods. This pool of negative source was the key to stabilizing his future progress.

The negative source would also allow him to create a domain. Within this area, everyone would lose connection with their laws.

He called this broken ability 'Mortalize'.

It was a passive and active talent. Actively it created an area around him that rejected supernatural power. It made those within range become mortals. This was a temporary effect that couldn't last forever

Passively it protected himself from restrictions. It made him partially immune to it and other substances of the same type.

John had the framework for nine ranks that he gained from viewing the nine layers of his soul. He however only had enough sources of energy to help him get to rank 7.

The amount of energy would also increase exponentially the further he walked on this path.

John's soul had already become rank 2. But it was time for his true existence to breakthrough again.

Becoming rank 2 was more complicated then rank 1. He needed to submerge himself and his concept in the energy he would be using. This was extremely dangerous due to the anti-supernatural properties of negative source.

He walked into the pool filled with negative source. The moment he was in. He felt all the aura in his dantian filter out of his body. He also felt his soul shift becoming ordinary. Even his will was affected!

John felt an extreme feeling of weakness. The liquefied negative source was turning into smoke.

John was becoming an old man.

One of the functions of his calamity system was his timelessness. But in truth. This body he was currently using. It was already 186 years old!

John had created a substance that rejected supernatural power! It was crucial for him to develop such a weapon to have a means to deal with it.

He planned to build up his immunity and make the anti-supernatural substance part of him permanently.

He was a weak old man laying down in the negative source. It was more clear then water. It almost looked like air.

His will was becoming unstable.

John held out his hand and a blue marble with flame appeared in it.

At first it was like throwing water on an oil fire. The reaction was explosive.

His true existence formed a transparent wall around itself made from negative source.

The remainder of this toxic stuff was sucked into his true existence as if it was some priceless elixir. This was partly due to him taking a tiny portion of his concept as the foundation for negative source.

Negative Source was reality warping. It was so because it was partially formed from a concept.

John sat in an empty pool half dead.

He was an old man and looked withered

Soon his calamity system regained full functionality.

He had become rank 2!
