“Are there people inside the experiment room?” asked Hellen.
“Uhh, umm. Yes. Five others.” said the lady.
“Which of these rooms are vacant then?” asked Hellen with a low voice.
“The- the study room is quite big. And nobody usually is there.” said the lady frantically.
Hellen got behind the lady and said “Then go into that room. We have questions to ask.”
The woman awkwardly walked into the room, followed by the detectives. The room was a large library with many hallways and tall bookshelves.
“What is this place?” asked Fushichin.
“The studies. The library where people read and learn. But we don’t use it much, our search engine is more than capable-”
“No, you dingus. I’m asking you where are we? What is this facility as a whole? What are you people trying to accomplish here?!” grunted Fushichin.
“You brought 5 inmates to this facility didn’t you? Where are they?” asked Hellen.
“There are…more than 5 people held captive here.” said the lady.
“Oh?” gasped Kyong.
“What? Why are you people imprisoning them here for?” asked Hui Ying.
“For an experiment.” said the lady with a low voice.
“What experiment?” asked Hellen aggressively.
The lady bit her lips and said “To create super soldiers. People with supernatural abilities.”
“Huh?” gasped Casey.
“What the fuck? You think we’ll buy your action flick movie nonsense?” grunted Hui Ying.
“I-it’s true! Please don’t shoot me. I…I merely wanted to gain more wealth to feed my family. That’s the only reason I’m doing it.” said the lady with fear and panic.
“Where are you keeping the captives?” asked Hellen.
“Downstairs. You have to go down a circular staircase. And there are guards there in the hallway downstairs, ordered to keep an eye on the inmates and prevent them from leaving.” said the lady.
“How many?” asked Fushichin.
“I didn’t count.” said the lady.
“Quit lying. If you’ve worked here, you should know.” said Kyong with a delinquent tone.
“T-ten are so are definitely there all the time. The other ten move around the facility. Sometimes they check up on us. And sometimes they go outside. But I really am unsure of the exact numbers” said the lady.
“What is your name?” asked Casey.
“Ori Nakami.” said the lady.
“Damn. How are we gonna fool the guards then?” grumbled Fushichin.
“I personally suggest we head back. If there are twenty or so armed men or women here, we’re at a huge number disadvantage.” said Dimitri.
“Do what then? We came here to save them. I’m not going back without them.” said Hellen.
“Don’t be foolish. We can bring reinforcements and storm the area.” said Casey.
“And let Hori and the other inmates be sent to jail and get executed? I won’t allow that.” said Hellen.
“Tch, If it makes you feel better I did send an SOS to Naran and Natasha before entering underground and asked them to gather up people and aid us for help.” said Kyong.
“Then shouldn’t we head back? Regroup and strike later?” asked Dimitri.
“I have a gps on me. They should be able to find this place and help us so we don’t exactly need to do that. And don’t worry, I got my team under my finger. They listen to me more than they listen to the rules.” said Kyong with a sly smile towards Hellen.
“But that’s only a handful of people, right? Seems like a waste of time at this point to wait for them. It’s better to come up with a smart plan to trick the guards and get the captives out.” said Fushichin.
“And exactly how are you gonna do that mister smarty pants? Wars aren’t decided by petty tricks, it is decided with strength and numbers” said Dimitri with aggression.

“We need to know more about this facility. Ori, tell us everything you know. And…can’t you see that we’re trying to save the lives of these people. How could you work here, knowing that people are imprisoned and used for an experiment!” grunted Hellen.
“I…I tend not to delve into things out of my profession.” said Ori with sadness.
“Alright, then at least tell us everything you know. If you don’t, we’re personally introducing you to mister bullet!” hissed Hui Ying.
“Right right. I umm. I don’t know much. You can go down into the captive rooms if you go along the hallway and turn left at the intersection. You’ll go down a spiral staircase and arrive at a hallway. There the guards will be waiting for you and the cells of each captive are there. Beyond that there is a…playground...for the kids.” said Ori.
“Playground? Why the hell is there a playground?!” grunted Hui ying.
“For the newborn soldiers to play. That’s what I was told. I didn’t check the place myself.” said Ori.
“Newborn soldiers? What do you mean? You’re not explaining everything.” grunted Hellen.
“The captives are all…females. The experimentation is…to breed super soldiers. We discovered a way to give people superhuman feats. But it’s not enough, we wanted to give birth to people with supernatural feats. The experimentation has to be done genetically, from a very young age, even starting from when the soldier is inside the womb. Otherwise, those powers will not become natural to them. There are too many side effects to try and make someone into a super soldier after they had a normal upbringing. The body rejects the chemicals and drugs we inject it with. But if we inject the mother with certain serums and chemicals, the soldier in the womb will grow to be compatible with the chemicals we inject. In recent years, we made it even possible for the baby to be born with feats of supernatural abilities.” said Ori with shyness.
“Y-you have to be joking.” said Fushichin with surprise.
“I’m not. That’s why all the captives are here. And why they all had to be women.” said Ori.
“You freaking psychopaths. I ought to kill you myself for doing something so horrid!” yelled Hui Ying and raised her arm.
Ori closed her eyes and braced herself for an impact but Hui Ying couldn’t bring herself to hit her.
“How many captives are there?” asked Hellen.
“Around thirty.” said Ori.
“Do the guards know every single worker in this facility?” asked Hellen.
“I don’t think so. There are people who visit this place anew. And there are also coworkers that have suddenly left this place without much of an explanation. The guards themselves mostly just stay downstairs, they occasionally bring the captives up here for us to experiment and inject the serums into them, but that’s it.” said Ori.
“Who gives out orders in this facility?” asked Fushichin.
“Ahh, I think it was someone called Arsene Milinsky. He was the one personally in charge of the place. But more than him, we take orders from the ones known as underground commanders. The ones with the black fancy uniform with red stripes. But there is only five people I know who have that uniform.” said Ori.
“I see. We could disguise ourselves as them. That’ll fool the guards!” said Kyong with a smirk.
“Good luck. The guards aren’t complete idiots. They recognize the commanders since its only five of them. I heard how Norven Raizalt himself came here to purposefully remind the guards how to behave. Apparently, he told them not to let a single captive out as they are all unwanted or criminals and the experiment is of utmost importance so it must go on.” explained Ori as she crossed her arms.
“Wowowowowow. What the fuck. Newven Raizan? You mean thaaat Newven Rizan?” asked Fushichin with wonder.
“Hey, what Newven are you talking about?” asked Hui Ying with a confused tone.
“Don’t you know? He is a famous politician from the congress. Has been working in politics for almost 30 years. Used to be in charge of the military. Now he is in charge of the NUIB” said Kyong.
“National undercover investigation bureau?” asked Hellen.
“Yes, they are the ones holding onto all the state secrets. The bureau also trains and gives commands to all the spies and national security guards.“ said Kyong.
“What? You have to be kidding! So, this isn’t just the work of a few evil thugs?” asked Hui Ying frantically.
“Definitely not. The secret entrance and the vents in the prison implied that the prison’s own architects and higher ups who approved of it were in on it. But I was hoping that it all would just end there. This being related to the NUIB and national secrecy, is surprising but also makes sense.” said Fushichin with a serious face.
“Then, we’re not fighting against criminals. We’re fighting against national security workers who were rightfully elected.” said Hui Ying with a shocked face.
“It doesn’t matter. They are doing this vile experiment behind the population’s back. And even if the population somehow approved of this…I don’t approve of it. I won’t allow them to use these people like that. Even if they are criminals.” said Hellen aggressively.
“H-honestly. I am kind of scared too. I don’t know how much money you’re gonna get from that woman. Fasha’s friend, whoever was her name.” grumbled Casey.
“Mina.” said Kyong.
“Yeah. Surely the money you got isn’t worth going against the NUIB for. Even disregarding the NUIB, we’re against 20 armed guards. And we have to handle those 30 captives too. It’s just too much for the six of us to handle.” said Casey with a frantic tone.
“Heh, yeah. I love me some money but…it’s not the only reason I’m doing this. Not this time. Mina…is the daughter of my childhood friend.” said Kyong nostalgically.
“Oh?” gasped Hellen.
“Her mother is real sweetie. Heh, even now, I would still love to put a ring on her. If I hadn’t been such a jerk and botched things up, I might have had a chance. Now it’s too late but…I can’t just seem to bring my mind away from her. Even if Mina isn’t my girl, she is still her child. I gotta make up for her kindness. Her daughter made a cute little request to me. It’ll be unmanly to turn it down.” said Kyong with a smirk.
“I see. Not all hope is lost. Unlike the cowardly Hui Ying, at least Kyong has a good reason to be here.” said Fushichin.
“Hey, who are you calling a coward, you asshole? I’m perfectly calm and calculative.” said Hui Ying with a snobbish tone as she crossed her arms.
“It’s fine if you’re afraid. It’s pretty stupid to waste your life to a cause you don’t believe in.” said Fushichin.
“Hey, don’t underestimate me, asshole. I want to make a difference in this world! And I’m especially pissed about this crime because the NUIB is doing something so bastardly and sexist. Treating women like soldier factories, disgusting!” grunted Hui Ying.
“I see. Then why are you here, Fushichin?” asked Dimitri with a stern look.
Fushichin smirked “Isn’t it obvious? I do what I want! I do what comes naturally to me. And freedom for those who desire for it is what is calling me.” said Fushichin with a smirk.
“Come on, let’s do this.” said Hellen.
