“Hey, don’t feel sad. I’m on your side. We should investigate Hori’s case together” said Fushichin as he whispered to Hellen’s ear from beside her.
“That’s…great to hear.” said Hellen.
They exited the station and went towards the parking lot of the police station. Klancy was walking in front of the group while Hellen was dragging behind them.
“So, you really aren’t gonna help me? I think the mysterious case where it wasn’t even properly reported is worth exploring more than just a random burglary.” said Hellen.
Klancy stopped and with him, the entire squad. They turned towards Hellen.
“Hellen, I know you have feelings towards the Sushihara household. But you need to let this one go. We have more important-“ started Galtomor but Hellen quickly interjected “We don’t. I don’t think the burglary is that important. It’s not my job to protect the riches of the wealthy from the poor. I don’t care to do it. If you truly want to become a genuine warrior of justice, I suggest you follow your own heart rather than what the Captain or the Chief or anyone says.” grunted Hellen.
“B-But we can’t just disobey orders. We have to do our jobs, what mission our squad is assigned. Otherwise we would be fi-“ started Joey but Hellen gritted her teeth and roared:
“I don’t care about being fired! If wanting to help people would lead me to be fired then I can accept that. But I know I can’t do everything alone. So, if you want to lend me a helping hand, I would greatly appreciate it.”
The others stayed silent. Fushichin raised his hands and walked towards Hellen.
“You know me, I don’t care what the higher ups say. I think Hori’s case is quite mysterious and interesting. That’s enough for me to prioritize it.” said Fushichin with a smirk.
Hui Ying walked towards them.
“Well, count me in too. I also don’t wanna run after an incompetent guy who stole food supplies of all things from a shop. You can always steal the most expensive things then sell it” said Hui Ying as she turned around to face the others with a smug grin.
“You too?” asked Juniper with sadness.
“Come on, this is ridiculous. We’re not gonna get paid for doing this. Besides, how are you gonna investigate the place without a warrant?” asked Galtomor.
“We’ll manage somehow.” said Hellen calmly.
“You’re being stupid. You’re going to waste your career and side against justice and the law for a petty murderer? Even without the suicide she would have died anyway.” said Klancy.
“Only because you caught her. Only because the judge and the jury wanted her dead. You think her life isn’t worth anything because she killed someone? Then just remember that your hands are bloody from all the people you sent to jail knowing that they would be executed or imprisoned for life.” said Hellen with aggression.
“It’s not like we wanted to hurt them. It’s our job” said Galtomor.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
“Then quit your job! Are you willing to go through all this bullshit, putting people to death one after another just to get paid?! Are you that greedy for money?” yelled Hellen.
Galtomor gritted his teeth and looked away.
“It’s not like that!” yelled Juniper.
“Then what is it like? You’re just a slave who is being pulled around by your employer. You don’t have the strength to stand on your two feet that’s why you rely on laws, rules and orders from higher ups.” cried Hellen with spite.
Juniper looked down with guilt.
“Don’t try to pull her down with yourself. If you wanna be a renegade then do it alone!” yelled Klancy.
“It’s no use guilt tripping. I know for a fact that a lot of people, including you are sick of doing what people say, sick of doing what the stench of money guides you to do. For the first time in your life, please, instead of listening to what the outside world says, listen to yourself.” said Hellen with genuineness.
“Hmph, I don’t know what the others are in for. But I always do what I want to do.” said Klancy with anger.
“Don’t fucking lie grandpa. You go weedly tiddly in front of the Captain and the Chief. Even now you’re scared of getting fired, so you’re doing all the boring and safe stuff out of fear.” said Fushichin with a smirk.
“I think the circumstances surrounding Hori’s suicide is weird. But personally, I don’t give a damn for that scum. A murderer like her deserved to die!” grunted Klancy.
“R-Really? She probably would have been executed but at least she could have tried to bargain with the judges.” said Galtomor.
“Bargain? You mean get out again, and start her killing spree? She even admitted herself. She killed Tenma because she wanted to. It wasn’t self-defense. She is just a corrupted trash who deserved to be burnt. It’s a good thing that she died before she piled more bodies up with her murderous intent” hissed Klancy.
“W-what?” gasped Hellen.
“Oh, hahaha. So that’s your thought? Your true feeling?” asked Fushichin with a smirk.
“My true feeling is that we should clean this world from scum like Hori, Marian, Nile and Salim. Especially hypocritical bastards like Salim. Who act so innocent and friendly on the outside but planning to eradicate all of us.” yelled Klancy.
“I know what Salim did was horrible but still…” said Juniper.
“In this world, there are assholes who can never be forgiven. Those who take joy in destruction. These people need to be locked far away. No, definitely they should be executed because some tricky fellows also escape imprisonment just to cause more harm and destruction.” said Klancy.
Hellen shook her head and said “But just because those people exist doesn’t mean Hori-“
“How do you know? When the hell did you become such a know it all? I’m older than you! And I have experienced way more rubbish the world had to throw towards me more than anyone! It doesn’t matter how old a person is or how cute or sympathetic they act. Once they have shown their true color, you should never forget that image. The image of a true monster. A monster that needs to be killed” said Klancy with rage.
“Heh, I see. So, you enjoy killing monsters. But painted by the blood of all the monsters you killed, you sure look like a monster yourself.” said Fushichin with a smile.
“Don’t tempt me, Fushichin. If you try to do anything illegal, I will make it my life’s goal to put you down. I don’t tolerate monsters. Monsters who would lie, who would smile all innocently but try to bite me from behind.” said Klancy with scornful eyes.
“Sheesh. I’m not trying to kill you or anything. Who do you take me for?” asked Fushichin with a smirk.
“Then why do you laugh? Why do you smile? Knowing that deep down, there is nothing worth laughing about, nothing worth smiling about. Your lies and your mask truly piss me off!” grunted Klancy.
Fushichin was taken aback by the word.
Klancy’s eyes looked towards Hellen.
“I used to be like you. All nice and naive. Trying to be the hero to everyone in the world. But the real world ain’t like a fairytale. The criminals you’re trying to save will simply slice your neck from behind. Your hope and trust in murderers and monsters are simply delusional” said Klancy
“You’re the one who has forsaken love.” yelled Hellen with anger.
Klancy smirked at that line.
“Forsaken love? You think I never loved anyone in my life? I too fell in love in my youth. Married a woman named Elina, had a kid named Reimond.” said Klancy with a sad tone.
“You…what happened to them?” asked Hellen with concern.
