Ch 51 – Privacy Policy

17 PM

Klancy, Salim, Hui Ying, Manish and a medical examiner Kiviana traveled to Kimtaiser district.

After entering a relatively old looking flat Klancy knocked on door number A25. A man with a thick mustache and messy hair opened up the door.

“Hello, I’m Detective Klancy. I would like to search this place and ask for you to cooperate with an ongoing criminal investigation.” said Klancy as he showed his badge.

The man frowned but let them in.

The four others strolled after Klancy into the room.

The living room had a bunch of computers placed on it. There were wallpapers related to various anime and movies mounted on the wall.

Two people were working on the computers while another person came to meet them from the kitchen.

“Who are you individuals? Could you give me your names?” said Klancy.

“Oh, so we’re not being accused of a crime, if you don’t know our names? Let alone anything?” asked the man from the kitchen. The man had small eyes and a large forehead.

“Just answer the question.” grunted Salim.

“The name is Hartsaga.” said the small eyed man with a confident tone.

“Oliga” said the messy haired man who opened the door.

“Larry” said a long haired man with a friendly hand wave from the other side of the computer..

“Harjal” said the guy wearing glasses carelessly as he worked on the computer.

“M-Milmar!” said a person who jumped out of the backroom.

“This place is the anonymous website hosting company named IDOWHO?” asked Klancy.

“Yes. I’m the manager of the company. Sorry if our company looks a bit unoccupied. 3 of our members are not working. And yes, we do find a random apartment to be much cheaper to own if that’s what you’re wondering” said Oliga.

“We’re here because of a certain murder case. The culprits made use of your website hosting service to host a malicious program on their website and downloaded that malicious program to a Baelix in order to hack it.” said Klancy.

“I see. And you want what?” asked Oliga with a frown.

“I want you to show me the record of your users. Who is responsible for hosting what website and their IP address.” said Klancy.

Oliga’s face became grim if not disgusted and he shook his head.

“Sorry, but a privacy hosting service is a privacy hosting service. We don’t hold any record of our website creators and their actions on their website.” said Oliga.

“Did you not take any private information when the website owner paid for the domain name or for hosting expenses?” asked Manish.

Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator.

“No, all payment our customers do, they do it with crypto. Is that a problem? Do we have to be monitored by the government on every single transaction that we do?” mumbled Oliga.

“There is a malicious program on one of the websites you hosted and it is related to the murder. I believe we are justified in our investigation!” said Salim.

Oliga looked at their eyes and sighed.

“Which website is it?” asked Oliga.

Manish showed him the address of the website. Oliga opened up his laptop and searched through a certain program that the detectives didn’t understand much.

“I got it. The website owner registered on an email named [email protected]. They paid through the anonymous crypto currency Coneking. That’s about all the information I could give you.” said Oliga.

“That’s it?” said Klancy.

“Hey, we’re a privacy based anonymous web hosting service. We’re supposed to take as little personal information as possible. Maybe you should contact himail’s database to get more information on the owner of the mail. Maybe they registered their real phone number” said Oliga with a smirk.

“That’ll be hard. If I remember right, himail’s servers are hosted in Azainen.” said Manish.

“You should still be able to tell us the IP address the owner used to visit their website. And you need to start making a record of the website owner’s footsteps now in case you somehow deleted the records. Come on, surely you have looked into it.” said Hui Ying.

“This is a criminal case. We’re not trying to compromise the privacy of your customers. We’re here to find the culprits who have taken the lives of 5 different people. This is serious. If you don’t believe us, we can show you proof.” said Klancy.

“C-Can you just show sensitive info to a random website hoster?” asked Salim.

“If it makes him cooperate then sure.” said Klancy with a frown.

“Jeez, you’re annoying. Wait a bit.” said Oliga and went over to the other room and brought a portable hard drive.

“Just so you know, I was about to delete everything inside it. This contains the records of the actions website owners took past week. You can know what the creator of that malicious website was doing and their IP address.” said Oliga.

“Heh, now you’re talking.” said Hui Ying with a grin.

Oliga connected the hard drive into the pc and began checking the records.

“There it is. Just take a picture of this. It shows the IP address of the attacker. And what they have been up to on their website at least. Hope that helps your investigation.” said Oliga with grumpiness.

“No, not directly. This is an IP address of a VPN server.” said Hui Ying.

“Yes. Particularly from RShield VPN, but its database is located in Elenrago, so we could go check that place out.” said Manish.

“We could…tomorrow. It’s getting late. I’m sure they’ve closed off their office too.” said Klancy with somberness.

But he quickly nodded and looked at the people around.

“Excuse me, but we would also like to ask you a few things. Your alibi from 1 to 3 am during this morning. And after that we would like to have DNA samples from all the workers here.” said Klancy.

“What, you suspect me and my workers of murder or something?” asked Oliga with an irritated tone.

“Not necessarily but just to be on the safe side. If you’re innocent, there is nothing to fear.” said Klancy calmly.

Oliga and a few of the workers such as Harjal and Larry looked at them with a frown.

“There is no time to waste, please give us your alibi.” said Salim.

“I was here at the office this morning from 1 am to 3 am. There was a server update we needed to do. Our workers Mary and Lloyd were here with me. After the update was done at 2:00 AM, I let them go home. I intend to pay them for overtime if you’re wondering. Hartsaga, Harjal, Larry, Milmar left the job at 18 yesterday so I don’t know about their alibis.” said Oliga.

“Okay, then the four of you, give us your alibi” said Hui Ying.

“I was at home, sleeping at 1-3. I live with my grandma.” said Hartsaga.

“I was at a party with my friend Leonard at the nightclub Xmachina. A few waitresses and women interacted with us a lot.” said Larry.

“Man, a flirty guy huh” said Hartsaga with a sly smile.

“Hey, can a guy have a little bit of fun?” asked Larry.

“I was sleeping. With my…partner.” said Harjal as he scratched his head.

“I was also sleeping. But I live alone, so not a strong alibi if you’re wondering.” said Milmar.

“Alright, thank you. Now Kiviana, if you may?” asked Klancy.

“Yes” said the examiner and pulled out a small stick with cotton.

Kiviana took the DNA of each member by putting the cotton inside the workers’s mouths and rubbing it on the inside of their cheek.
