The two of them exited the room and climbed up the stairs. Hellen knocked on Mew’s door. Soon the door opened and Mew was behind it. Her eyes bulged big.
“W-what are you doing here?”
“We came to meet you.” said Hellen.
“For what?” asked Mew, concerned.
“For nothing. We just…we were worried.” said Hellen.
Mew looked down sadly and said “I don’t doubt you. Maybe you were worried. But certainly not the others. That brown robed detective. That guy with the weird name. Your entire police force took her away.” with a hoarse voice.
“I’m sorry. I know what they did was wrong. But please, is there any way I can help?” asked Hellen with sorrow.
“Bring my sister back! Just bring Hori to me. I don’t care if you do legal stuff or illegal stuff, just…I wanna see her again. And I’m sure that she wants to be freed from that horrible place too.” said Mew with anger.
Hellen looked down with depression. Mew looked at her and became even more aggravated.
“What? What did you expect I would say?! I know that you’re this great warrior of justice who does no wrong. But…you did do wrong. You uncovered the truth of the crime that my Hori did. I was a fool, I should have lied to you. I should have lied to you and made it seem like Hori and I had the best alibi possible. I didn’t do that…and now she is…ahh”
Tears fell down Mew’s cheeks and she turned around to hide her face.
Hellen stood at the doorway frozen.
“Why are you standing there? You think standing there is gonna help? Don’t you have any better shit to do, miss warrior of justice?” asked Mew.
“I, I’m sorry. I was a fool! I couldn’t protect your sister. I was so full of myself. I should have done better! I should have solved the entire case by myself if I had to and I should have had the foresight to know that the truth that we were reaching was not to be revealed. I should have lied, tricked them. I should not have helped them reveal the truth! I am sorry.” said Hellen as she cried and slumped on the floor.
Fushichin quickly crouched on the ground and put his hand on her shoulder “Hellen stop. I don’t wanna see you like this. You can’t change the past!”
“Shut up! So what? That doesn’t change the fact that I was wrong. All my life, I always was wrong. All my life, I lived a lie.” grunted Hellen.
“That’s not…that’s not true. It’s not your fault. The stupid justice system doesn’t know anything besides punishment. They don’t know how to help Hori. They don’t want to understand the pain she has been through. They don’t know how to deal with her anger, her hatred, her bloodlust. That’s why she was jailed. None of it is your fault.” grumbled Fushichin and sighed.
“Then I should have known better. I should have known not to trust them. I was naïve. Being just a detective isn’t enough. Being just a warrior of justice isn’t enough. We gotta change the world!” grunted Hellen aggressively and got up.

“Mew, I…I didn’t come here to mope and cry. That wasn’t the intention. I…I came here to promise you that everything will be alright. That I will bring back your sister, one way or another” said Hellen.
“What?” gasped Fushichin.
Mew turned around to face Hellen with a surprised expression.
“Yeah, whatever it takes. I’ll bring her back to you. I promise you!” said Hellen confidently but with a shaky voice.
Fushichin shook his head and with confusion said “What do you mean?! Even if we change the law, make it so that executing someone is banned in this country, she would still probably spend the rest of her life in the slammer. I guess it’s possible to change the law further but neither the politicians nor the general public would agree that a murderer should go-“
“When did you start to speak like a damn lawyer?!” grunted Hellen.
“Huh?” gasped Fushichin with surprise.
“I thought you were more based than this.” said Hellen with a smirk, trickles of tear in her eyes.
“What? The hell are you-”
“What happened to the Fushichin I know? You always talked about killing and death so casually. You always said you didn’t give a shit about law and order, what other people said. What happened to the man I trusted!”
“Huh?” gasped Fushichin, his eyes widening as he took a step back.
“Hahahaha, hey Mew, look at this loser, look how scared he is. Fushichin, do you know why I brought you and only you to this place?” asked Hellen with a mocking smile.
“I thought it was a date. But guess I was wrong?!” said Fushichin with a smirk.
“At least you have your sense of humor.” said Hellen as she wiped her remaining tears.
Mew looked at the two with curiosity, her attention fully on them.
“I would have loved to bring Klancy, Galtomor and Salim here. I would like to bring them all here and beat them up in front of Mew. How heartless they could be. To snatch away a girl from her lover, from her family. All the while trying to justify all that with their stupid laws!” yelled Hellen fiercely and slammed the ground with her boot.
Fushichin faced her confidently this time. Sadness formed on his face.
“I don’t want Mew or anyone to suffer like this. I am so tired of the police and all these moralists finding excuses to drag people out and lock them away. Killing the lives of troubled and traumatized individuals and calling that justice.” said Hellen.
“I…I know how you feel. I really do. But I…I don’t want you to ruin your life like this. You can try to rally people up. You can talk to the higher ups, maybe you’ll succeed in changing the laws. But I don’t think you should do anything illegal. Cause the way I see it, you want to just break Mew out of prison by force huh.” said Fushichin.
Hellen looked him in the eyes directly. But soon she frowned “So you’re just like Layla. You’re just like a politician. A person who talks and talks and talks. No action.” said Hellen.
“Hellen, you can’t just bust down an entire prison. It’s different from catching an armed thug.” said Fushichin.
“What other choice do we have? We have 5 years until Hori is executed! If we can make rule changes by convincing the politicians and the general public in that time, that’s amazing! But you and I both know that neither the greedy politicians nor the stupid masses would understand. Poor people are thrown in prison because they couldn’t pay their loan. Sad people who tried to forget their misery with pots and weed are treated like villains. Everybody, including kids, knows this. Nobody does anything, because the truth is nobody cares, just like you said.” said Hellen with a fierce tone.
“I…I thought things would improve. If we kept talking. If I kept talking, discussing and trying to reach out to them over and over again, I thought they would understand.” said Fushichin.
“I thought that Klancy would stop too. Instead he was willing to take me down just to kidnap Hori.” said Hellen as she balled her hand to a fist.
The two of them exchanged silent glances.
“I’m happy to hear that Miss Hellen. I…I don’t want you to get hurt but…I would be grateful, truly grateful if you brought her back.” said Mew with a sad sincerity .
“Don’t worry. I’ll definitely bring her back to you.” said Hellen with a smirk.
“Hellen, I understand you. And I will remain on your side. But…I’ll still do things my way. I’m gonna talk and talk. Talk and ramble all day until they are convinced what they are doing is wrong and dumb. But if I fail…” said Fushichin.
“Then I’ll do my part.” said Hellen with a frown.
