Besides, Rona must be doing a great job if it’s only Leon who noticed it, besides me. It would be better if I confront her about it when we finish the dungeon, any other time won’t work.
“Cynthia,” I said.
Cynthia, hearing my voice, tilted her head. She had a confused expression, she even pointed to herself to make sure I was actually calling her, which I was.
“How much mana do you have left?” I asked.
She stared at me for a few seconds as if she processed my words, she then began staring into space, presumably checking her mana reserves.
“Um…I have enough for about five debuff spells and two buffing spells,” she said.
Hm. It should be good enough to survive through the floors until we take a break, unfortunately it won’t be enough to fight the boss. Her ability to buff a teammate is crucial at moments like this, I cannot let her enter the battle without much mana.
And that’s not even mentioning the level of the spell.
“That won’t do, here. Have this mana potion.”
I grabbed a mana potion from the bag and threw it at her. She caught it, fumbling it over and almost breaking it. She sighed when she didn’t break it.
“Are you sure? Isn’t there only six mana potions?” she asked, looking around.
As Cynthia said, we were given six mana potions, one for each of us. I decided now would be the right time to use one, there isn’t a better time to do so.
“Yeah, I doubt anyone would object,” I said.
Unfortunately right when Cynthia was about to open the mana potion she was interrupted by a voice.
“Wait, what are you doing, Chaim? Giving her one of our precious mana potions?” Arakawa asked.
“You have a problem with it?” I said.
“Of course, isn’t it too soon? There may be dire situations when it would be better to use it. What I’m saying is to not make a hasty decision. After all we only have six mana potions,” she said.
“I don’t see why that’s a problem?”
“Arakawa does have a point, I think it’s way too soon to use it,” said Rick.
“I also think we should save it,” Rona said.
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
“I have the same opinion,” said Leon.
What are these people going on about? Especially Leon, did you just agree because I laughed at your father? Don’t they see the bigger picture? If it was something as simple as saving it then I wouldn’t be giving her the potion.
Cynthia hesitated as she listened to our conversation, her hand hovered over the lid. She simply stood frozen unsure on what to do.
In response to all of their objections, I simply shook my head. I guess I should explain my reasoning if I want them to understand.
Communication is key after all.
“You all seem to be misunderstanding something,” I said, gazing at them with a serious expression. “Besides Rick, you all don’t have any experience in dungeons. We’ll soon encounter the first boss, and we’ll possibly die because of the lack of preparation. A dead person can’t drink a mana potion.”
“Ahhh! I forgot about that!” said Rick, eyes wide opened just realizing the situation. “I take back everything I said! Taetel is right, it’s better to be careful and use the mana potion.”
“Plus I doubt you all know how to fight the boss,” I said, adding another reason.
“Then why not do it on the end of the thirty ninth floor?” Arakawa asked.
“Because it’s better overall for digestion. Sure you can drink it right at that moment, but it’s recommended to drink it in tiny doses,” I said.
For example, take water. Sure, you can drink it all at once, but drinking too much can lead to serious side effects. Therefore, it’s best to space out water intake. The only exception being when you are very thirsty and have to drink a lot of water.
The same can be applied to mana potions, if you are running out of mana to the brink of death, consuming a mana potion will be better for you, but overall it’s better to take sips of the potion.
It’s even more recommended when the mana potion contains a lot of mana. You need to be careful or you might die because of an excessive amount of mana inside your body.
Like all things in life too much of something will harm you so know how to limit yourself.
“You’re right, sorry for doubting you,” said Arakawa, bowing her head.
“No need to apologize, it’s good when you question my decisions as I’m not always correct.”
I’m not particularly angry with her doubting me. When things are like this, it’s better to explain your reason. Although you won’t always fully convince someone at least you tried.
Nevertheless, I’m glad Arakawa can actually own up to her mistakes and apologize. I’ve seen way too many people try to excuse their mistakes. And don’t get me started on trying to convince a stupid person of anything, it’s straight up impossible.
Each time I tried, I ended up questioning how people can get that stubborn. It wasn’t even the fact that they lack intelligence, they just wouldn’t give up their opinion no matter how wrong they were.
Although I find it commendable, it wasn’t pleasant to deal with it. Just thinking about it gives me a headache. I guess they’ll always be people like that…
Anyways, with the approval of the group, Cynthia opened the mana potion, and took a sip. She continued drinking it before she left it once she drank a third of it.
“All right we should get going, standing here in the cold won’t do us any good,” I said.
It’s cold, and if we keep standing here our bodies are bound to get colder. While the temperature won’t cause severe frostbite, it’s only like this since we’re right at the start. I breathed on my hands to bring warmth before I gripped my sword and shield again.
Let’s continue.
