The auctions kept going, although there was a dip in the atmosphere, most still bid. They didn’t want to lose the opportunity, plus if it meant the competition would be hesitant on bidding then it would benefit them even more.
Still, the price of each slave increased to the point where there was calculations when determining whether spending a single coin on them. Not every noble could afford it, they’re layers of them. The ones bidding were the wealthier nobles.
They had enough money to spare on slaves, in addition to slaves having more value. The potential increased to A making them valuable as any expensive things. The ones who could afford could only stare in envy as the others bidded.
As the end was nearing, everyone was anticipating theses next slaves. While they couldn’t buy them, they could still appreciate the quality. The upcoming showcasing contained all of what you needed in a slave. These particular slaves while malnourished, look way healthier than the rest. Clearly there was favoritism in play.
Many invest into slaves and make huge profits out of it. Either way, the butler was swapped with a maid. She played with her black hair, casually announcing the next product, keeping a professional attitude.
She stared around the area, making eye contact with the bird mask man. She waved her hand, a tiny smile barely visible. In response the bird masked man, raised his hand and put it down in some sort of gesture.
“Oh, wow. Look who’s being a player again!” The third man teased.
“You misunderstand, I merely recognized her.” The bird masked man responded, shaking his head.
“Do you? That’s sort of unexpected.” The first man expressed his surprise.
“Well, she’s one of my subordinates. I don’t know how she made her way here, though I guess she has a reason to,” he replied, shrugging.
“Imagine she came here to watch over you like a crazy, jealous girlfriend!” The third man jokes, giving a thumbs up.
“Woah, woah! You better calm down, when you say things like that they somehow become true.” The fourth man remarked, chuckling.
“I know, I know. That’s why I’ll be keeping my mouth shut until further notice,” he said, nodding to himself.
“Please don’t turn out to be true. Man, now you got me worried for him! You never realize how crazy these girls get until you meet one.” The second man exclaimed.
“Don’t worry about it, it’s not that bad, right?” The fifth man asked, waiting for an agreement.
All four men just shook their heads, some gulping at the thought. The fifth man stared at this negative response, nodding.
“I see how it is. All I can do is hope that isn’t the case. And on the tiny off chance it is, then I got the perfect solution.”
The four men nodded, clearly understanding what he meant. They went back to talking, meanwhile the bird masked man scanned his surroundings.

He looked behind him, to the left, right, up, down. He observed everything, then went back to the conversations. The men talked, no longer drinking wine. They occasionally took a sip to water their dry throats.
“Item number 167. From Astora, 15 years old. Height 157 centimeters, weight 43 kilos. (5’1, 94 lbs) Dark pink hair, blue eyes. Gender, female. Animal species, cat. Potential, A. In excellent health, no external injuries. Let the bidding begin at seven hundred fifty gold coins.” The maid said, bringing a cat girl.
“Eight hundred gold coins.” The bird masked offered, fully knowing how this wasn’t the best offer.
“Eight hundred seventy five gold coins.” The teen bid, he and the man both expected this.
“Nine hundred fifty gold coins.” Another noble offered out of nowhere.
“One platinum coin.” A different noble said, adding fifty gold coins to make it even a thousand.
“Hm. I don’t feel like doing this. I’m ending this.” The plague doctor whispered to himself.
“Three platinum coins,” he said.
“…”
“Three platinum coins, going once. Going twice,” she said, giving them a single opportunity to bid. The other nobles, including the teen backed off, no longer wanting to bid. “Sold!” she exclaimed, apparently happy.
“There we go, the first purchase of this man who doesn’t usually buy anything!” It was obvious who said those words.
“Are we going to act like I didn’t buy the other slave?” The plague doctor questioned.
“Did you? That doesn’t really count,” he replied, pointing towards the plague doctor. “Though why did you buy two cat demi humans? As it’s widely known their are asshole and fucking hard to deal with. At that point, I wouldn’t deal with the hassle. But hey, that’s just me.”
“That’s exactly why.” The fourth man responded instead of the plague doctor.
“Yeah, that’s exactly why.” The first man agreed.
“Definitely, I wouldn’t say otherwise.” As well as the second man.
“Huh!? Am I missing something? I wasn’t informed of this unknown information.” The third man gasped, faking being offended.
“I feel the same way. I don’t know what you guys are thinking, but you have the wrong idea.” The fifth man said, sighing. “Do I look like that type of person?”
“Yes.”
“Yes”
“Yes”
“Yes”
“…”
“Haah, all of you really like assuming things that aren’t true.” The man chuckled, shaking his head.
“In all seriousness, what do you plan to do with them?” The fourth man asked, genuinely curious.
“Confidential information. I can’t let people know about my activities.” The man said, not forgetting the implication of his own words.
“I told you. That’s exactly why.” The fourth man smirked.
“Oh, yeah I do know. It’s for that reason.” The third man's mouth was left hanging.
“Can you not take all my words out of context?” The plague doctor said, adjusting his mask.
“I don’t know, but the way you phrased it implies and supports my thoughts.” The second man said, raising his eyebrows.
“I’m not going to confirm nor deny your claims. After all, I have no idea what you mean.”
The men requested more wine, drinking to their heart's content.
