Chapter 22: Talk

“There we go…” I said out loud, entering where I lived.

The auctions had ended, and being completely honest there wasn’t much enjoyment as I originally thought. I suspect one factors was due to me not buying or even bidding for a slave. I couldn’t afford to waste my money when we barely have any to spare.

Although we have enough money to live a comfortable life, that doesn’t include the expenses of the whole school. Because I’m sure there will be more.

Anyways, that’s besides the point. The real mood killer was that whole execution. I don’t know what went through their heads, but it isn’t the best idea to kill some as a show. Unless you’re doing a public execution then you have no reason to do such things.

Sure, he wanted to promote his new little show yet I find that hard to believe. For starters, what about the previous years? There wasn’t anything of that sort, he just killed people and opted to ignore the public reaction.

No. I shouldn’t waste anymore of my time with these possible motives. After all, I have nothing to do with it. I should probably go to bed, before I end up sleep deprived. The auction had been more than two hours, and that was being generous. In reality it could’ve been four because that’s how it felt.

Even with all this, my parents still weren’t home. I understood that the moment I went out. It's pretty much empty most of the day, so I have to find ways to entertain myself.

I still had time until my parents arrived. Maybe I should go out and do some things. I’m fully prepared to face some conflict since it’s night time.

I didn’t bother taking my expensive clothes off, leaving the house once again. The streets weren’t quiet, but compared to how loud it usually is I would say it’s peaceful. I walked through Main Street, encountering random people wandering the area. They gave me confused stares, ultimately distancing away from me.

Not caring about my safety, I took a shortcut through the alleyways. This was me begging to be robbed. Unfortunately before anything of that sort took place, I met with a certain individual kicking a slave in the stomach.

“Stop fucking doing unnecessary shit. You’re lucky you hold some value, if it wasn’t for that I would’ve killed you myself,” he said, stomping on the slave’s hand.

“Listen well, you’re nothing compared to me. In fact, you are the scum of the earth. And that’s saying something if I’m a better person than you.”

“Come on, respond!“ he said, kicking the slave even more.

“Hm?” Noticing a presence, the man turned right in my direction.

“Oh, hey. It’s unusual seeing you around here at this time. Do you need something? Although I’m currently busy with this thing, I can set some time aside,” he spoke, leaving the slave alone.

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

“Don’t worry about that. I just felt like visiting. Especially due to the end of the auction. There should be quite the profits, right Serge?” I said, pointing towards a building.

“Heh, that’s right.” Serge chuckled.

He then proceeded to kick the slave in the face, knocking the slave out. He grabbed the slave, carrying them towards the building I pointed at. I followed, not really paying attention to the slave. Without inspecting them further, I couldn’t determine whether they were a female or a male.

When we entered the building, Serge dropped the slave. A woman stood there watching the whole action, a look of pity was visible. She glared at him, giving him the middle finger.

“Why do you always do this!? Don’t mistreat the slaves! When are you going to understand that?” she said, quite angry.

“Bitch, don’t tell me what to do. Just stay where you are, and shut your damn mouth.” Serge sneered, clearly irritated by her mere presence.

“Huh? Excuse me, but why would I care about your opinion? I do—“ she shouted, disgusted.

When her eyes laid upon me, she quickly closed her mouth. She moved her head, not making eye contact with anyone and looked down. Serge had a satisfied expression while I just stood there dumbfounded.

What’s up with her?

“That’s right, lower your head. Remember those feelings whenever you talk back to your superior,” he mocked, a smirk on his face.

“S-s-shut u-p.” The woman struggled to speak in response to his comment.

“I can’t hear you! Speak louder would you now? Hahaha.” Clearly enjoying this, he laughed.

“This is why no one likes you, Lipski.” Another voice appeared out of nowhere.

Her magenta hair was tied into short twin tails. Hands in her jacket pockets, her mauve eyes gazed at Serge in disgust. All her attention was directed at him. It was obvious she didn’t like him.

“Nobody enjoys your presence here either. I got shit to do, so get out of my sight.” Serge replied back.

“That’s no way to respond to your superior.” A smirk made its way onto her own face as she repeated similar words to what Serge said.

“Tch, while you are my superior, that's only in name. I don’t consider you someone worthy of my attention, much less respect.” He gazed at her, getting closer.

Serge glared at the girl, ready to attack anytime soon. Yet he didn’t, I knew it wasn’t because he was scared, but due to another reason regarding the situation.

“Yet you’re giving me all your attention. You should stop making him wait,” she replied, completely serious in the last sentence.

“…” he clicked his tongue, backing away.

“Man, all these bitches annoy the hell out of me.” Serge complained scratching his head as he lead me up some stairs.

I silently followed him through the area, I didn’t acknowledge the presence of the two women. Instead focusing on the purpose of my visit. From the corner of my eye, I could see the magnet hair girl, biting her lip when seeing me, then going towards the other woman and slave whispering something.

My last view was her of gazing at me with an unreadable expression.
