I stood in the same place as I watched the group of adventures leave. I placed the item back into my pocket, hiding it where I had the necklace. The sound of rocks breaking echoed, the lone figure of a person approached me.
“Is that true?” The person said. “If so, then we must take precautions.”
“I’m not too sure about that. In the first place, they are being more aggressive due Touya being temporarily incapacitated. Something along the lines of offensive is the best defense. As such, I doubt there’s a need to increase security, Leon,” I said.
“Still, it never hurts being too careful,” he replied, with a deep sigh.
I probably played a part since I was the one who inflicted the injuries to him. Still, recovering from the wounds is a fast process, keep in mind during my attack my mana was depleted, which is why I kept punching him.
I find it strange that such bruises cannot be healed by someone. By no means is his family poor, although they don’t hold great wealth, finding a healer isn’t difficult for them.
They should have enough connections to get a personal discount due to their actions. In addition, the injuries aren’t hard to heal, Raymond easily healed me from a blunt force to the head, which was worse as the person who hit me had full intentions on incapacitating me.
And to make matters more confusing, even if they declined all those opinions, Touya injuries would have let him continue as if nothing happened. I remember he was admitted to a hospital, the details after were unclear yet it was safe to assume he was healed.
Being admitted to a hospital by the academy doesn’t make much sense. There should’ve been healers inside of the building, an clear example being the girl accompanying the leader of the disciplinary committee.
They had no business putting him in a hospital unless instructed to by the family of the student. Since he was seen as a victim being caught in the crossfire, the disciplinary committee was more likely to listen to their request.
At the beginning it was no more than me being doubtful of strange things happening. Since I had no evidence, I kept the theories for their actions to myself.
However, with them being more aggressive and the suspicious activity, everything is lining up. It all adds up. I already had a suspicion about this, but with the event coming up, my speculation is becoming true.
“That’s true, feel free to do anything you want. I only advised against it because similar situations had already occurred and too negative had happened. Only a few scuffles here and there,” I explained, sitting back down to my seat.
Stolen story; please report.
“Besides, my sources informed me of a discovery of a gold mine containing lots of goods being found near the city of Libera.”
It’s good I took some precautions, the unfortunate thing is the lack of manpower. The manpower is limited since most of them were sent to the city of Libera.
It’s going to be a while before any of them come back. Due to this, I’ll have to find some temporary replacements to continue the business.
Ah, you probably are out of the loop, so let me explain further. You know, how on the first day of my new life at the academy my dad wasn’t present? Well, he owns a business, more specifically a store that sells anything from dungeon materials to day to day materials.
Workers were sent to the city of Libera to acquire materials to sell. Since it was recently discovered a lot of people are going towards the location in an attempt to sell findings for profit.
Due to the nature of my dad’s store, he has connections with other businessmen. The Basset family and Ballerini family are the two more prominent of various families, the Basset family has closer ties to my family hence my recognition of Abigail when I heard her surname, and my familiarity with Leon.
On the other hand, our relationship with the Ballerini family is a typical business relationship, we trade our unwanted goods to each other, and much more things.
The stuff about them doing illegal things is partially true, they are definitely doing something sketchy yet we don’t have much information other than that.
This is the reason for my adventurer work, I didn’t go into dungeons for another reason other than obtaining materials. Since it was dangerous, my parents were against it at first, but since there was a period of our life where we were getting closer to bankruptcy by the passing day, due to a certain family, I had to find a way to find money.
Why should we hire adventurers to gather materials when I could do it myself? This was my mentality when going inside dungeons. We could barely keep the store from staying afloat, much less hire adventurers.
Their services are not cheap, especially the more famous groups, most people hire well-known adventurers since they are more likely to complete the request. Since it was not issued by the guild, it’s more difficult to find trustworthy individuals.
It also applies to the adventures, accepting a request from a random noble family doesn’t sound too pleasing, especially if there isn’t a guarantee you won’t suddenly die. To avoid anything from happening, adventurers choose to only accept quests from the guild.
At the end of the day, the guild is the one benefiting the most from this. The guild takes a cut from every adventurer's work, and the requester has to submit some money so the quest gets approved by the guild.
Back to the original topic, the family who caused the predicament was none other than the Amagiri family. Their actions caused great misfortune to my family.
The Amagiri family from what I remember doesn’t have any relations with any known noble families, it’s as if they’re isolated from nobles. The strange thing is even with a lack of connections they are still able to sell their products like hot cake.
Really strange indeed.
