Chapter 90 - Measuring Magic Capacity

Chapter 90 - Measuring Magic Capacity

Looking at the form, it was quite similar to a questionnaire from my old world, asking for your name, age, and the like. Without wasting any time, both the girls and I started answering the form. While answering, I reached a part where magic compatibility was mentioned.

"Excuse me"

I said, getting the attendant's attention. Hearing my words, she turned to me with a smile on her face.

"Yes, what can I do for you?"

She asked as she looked at me.

"What specifically is this part asking me for?"

I pointed to the section I was confused about. Following my hand, the attendant soon identified the part I was confused about.

"Ah, that part is asking about the spells you have aptitude with"

She explained. Hearing her words, I nodded and turned my gaze back to the form.

(Now... what exactly should I put here? To tell you the truth, I can't tell if I have aptitude for spells or not. In my case, whenever I consume a monster, I gain its power, so I don't know if that counts as aptitude)

While I was thinking about this, I turned my gaze to the girls and noticed that they were all listing their elements, including Fujiwara. She was listing practically all the elements I knew. Noticing that I was looking at her, Fujiwara greeted me with a smile on her face. Seeing this, I realized instinctively.

(This girl, she somehow copied my elemental manipulation skills before I realized it)

With a sigh, I returned to looking at my paper again. It's not like I could put this off forever anyway.

(Right... I think I'll put down three elements for now)

With that thought, I started writing the elements: fire, water, and wind. Overall, I chose these elements because they seemed to be the most common ones. As soon as I finished filling out this part, I finally reached the last question. As I read the last question, I again didn't know how to answer it. While I was thinking about it, Aoi-sensei spoke next to me.

"Excuse me, about that last question... I don't know what my magical ability is"

She said. Hearing Aoi-sensei's words, the attendant put on an understanding smile.

"You don't have to worry about that"

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

She said, taking something from under the counter and placing it on top. It looked very much like a sphere. If we follow the logic of anime and manga, this sphere can probably measure your magical ability.

"This is a device developed by the elven kingdom. It serves to measure one's magical ability"

Said the attendant with a smile while looking at Aoi-sensei. But leaving that aside, I just heard something interesting.

(So elves and humans do business with each other)

If it was just like the stories in anime and manga that I read, humans would try to sell elves as slaves or something like that. Actually, it's a bit surprising that this is not happening in this world. While I was thinking about this, Aoi-sensei slowly started to put her hand on top of the sphere. As soon as she placed her hand on the sphere, an intense blue light shone on the spot, causing everyone to close their eyes.

"Umm... what does blue mean?"

Said Aoi-sensei with an anxious face. Hearing her words, the attendant could only look at her with wide eyes. Although I am not an expert on the subject, judging from her reaction, blue probably indicates a good result. Hearing Aoi-sensei's words, the attendant quickly pulled herself together.

"Ah, please forgive me for that. It's been quite a while since I last saw such intense blue"

Said the maid while looking at Aoi-sensei with a regretful face. Hearing the words of the attendant, Aoi-sensei waved her hands, trying to calm the situation.

"It's okay; you don't have to worry about it"

Said Aoi-sensei with a soft smile on his face. After that, the attendant started to explain what the blue color that Aoi-sensei got meant and also explained the other two possible results that were possible to get. First of all, there are three types of colors, red, as being the worst result, as it means that you have an extremely low magical ability, followed by yellow, which means an average magical capacity, and lastly, the color blue.

This color means you have an extremely high magical capacity. Furthermore, the intensity of the brightness also affects the result since more brightness means even more capacity within that specific color.

With that in mind, Saemi, Ana, and Fujiwara were the next to test their magical ability. Just as expected, they all got the same result as Aoi-sensei, an intense blue light. While this was happening, the attendant looked at them with an astonished face, not believing what was happening. As soon as the girls finished, it was finally my turn.

"Place your hand on top of the sphere, please"

Said the attendant with a soft smile on her face. But it was clearly visible that this situation was extremely tiring for her. With an internal sigh, I put my hand on top of the sphere. As soon as I put my hand on, I was expecting an intense blue light, just like the girls', to shine, but strangely, nothing happened.

Looking at the attendant, she also looked confused, indicating that this situation was not something normal. But suddenly, a small black light appeared inside the sphere and started spinning wildly, expanding until it covered the whole sphere. This was really strange since the attendant hadn't said there was a black color.

"Umm... you didn't tell us there was a fourth color"

I said as I looked at the attendant.

"What does black mean?"

Hearing my words, the attendant looked at her two friends who were standing behind her and soon turned to me again.

"And that... black means that the sphere failed to measure its magical capacity"

Said the attendant as she looked at me. Hearing her words, a frown appeared on my face.

"What exactly does that mean?"

I said as I looked at her with a confused look.

"Well... it means that either you have no magical ability at all or that you have too high an ability to be measured with our current equipment"
