Carefully, I approached the fallen Wyvern on the ground, its body completely shattered and irreparable. It was hard to believe that such an imposing monster could have been defeated in this way. I placed my hand on its face, feeling the texture of the tough scales, which made me reflect on exactly how I had managed to defeat this Wyvern. The feeling of being a Hydra with multiple heads made me realize that the durability of the Wyvern had turned out to be irrelevant.
Before using my ability, I observed Eldric and his wife; both were looking at me with curiosity. I couldn't help but notice that Eldric's wife rarely spoke, but it wasn't my business, and I never paid much attention to it.
"Eldric, could you and your wife keep one more secret for me?"
I asked as I turned my gaze back to the Wyvern's body. Seconds later, a voice echoed from behind me.
"Of course"
hearing Eldric's confirmation, I activated my ability.
"Gula, devour it"
After uttering those words, a relatively gruesome scene began to unfold before me. Several hands made of black smoke emerged and began dragging the Wyvern's body down, each hand seemed desperate for a piece, as if it were their last meal. Although the sight initially made me uncomfortable, I learned to see these scenes as something transient and necessary for me to enhance my abilities.
"Well, that's another big secret you've got there"
Eldric said with surprise in his voice, coming from behind me. However, his words were quickly drowned out by a sound that echoed in my mind.

With that thought in mind, I started to move away from the Wyvern and returned to the others. As I walked back, I looked around and noticed that there were no more monsters nearby. The only evidence that a battle had occurred in that place was the bodies of the monsters scattered on the ground. As I approached Edward, I promptly asked what had happened.
"Where are the monsters?"

Hearing my words, Eldric turned towards the forest on the horizon and replied.
"After the Wyvern was killed, they returned to the forest. For starters, they weren't advancing because they wanted to attack the city. They were simply fleeing from a top-of-the-food-chain predator"
Hearing Edward's words, I nodded to show that I understood. Then, we gathered with the other adventurers and started to collect the bodies of the monsters. Eldric announced that everyone would receive generous rewards for both the slain monsters and their valuable assistance in defending the city. After that, I met up with Adya's group, and the three of them were greatly relieved to hear that my companions and I were safe. However, they found it strange that I didn't have a scratch on my body, considering that I was also a direct combat warrior, just like Adya.
After collecting all the monster bodies, we returned to the adventurer's guild to celebrate our great victory against that scary horde. The atmosphere was filled with joy and enthusiasm as everyone raised their glasses and enjoyed food and drinks. Aoi-sensei, in particular, was already on her third glass, while we, the kids, so to speak, savored a delicious fruit juice. While we were enjoying the party, Adya and her companions approached us.
"Can we sit with you?"
Adya asked as she approached. Upon hearing her words, the girls looked at me, waiting for my response. Personally, I saw no reason to refuse, so I ended up accepting in the end.
“Of course”
With a gentle smile on my face, I replied. Upon hearing my answer, Adya and her companions smiled faintly and settled in. Soon after, we started talking about various topics. In the middle of the conversation, a question naturally arose, and both Adya and her companions didn't seem particularly offended by it.
“Where are you all headed? You won't stay here for long, right?”
As I took a sip of my juice, I asked the question. Upon hearing my words, the girls exchanged glances for a few seconds before Adya promptly responded.
“We're heading back to the capital of Arclight. We came here because of a request, but we've already finished it. Anyway, it's in the capital where we find the biggest requests”
Adya said as she took a sip of her beer. Her words made me ponder for a few seconds, and as soon as I made a decision, I tried to ask them for a favor.
“Could you take us with you? We were also planning to go to the capital, and it would be much better to go with someone who knows the area”
Upon hearing my words, Adya and her companions seemed receptive to the idea.
“I don't mind, and what about you, girls?”
Adya asked, fixing her gaze on her companions.
“I don't mind either”
Ikari replied, smiling gently at me.
“Neither do I... Besides, I'm interested in your magic”
Zephyra said, looking at me with curious eyes. Upon hearing the girls' words, I couldn't help but let out a discreet laugh. After that, we talked for a few more hours until we all decided to end the day. During our conversations, Adya and her friends shared a bit about themselves. I found out that the three of them came from the same city and decided to become adventurers together, four years ago. Now, they are relatively well-known among adventurers.
The night ended with Fujiwara, Saemi, and me playing until the early hours of the morning. When Aoi-sensei asked us if something had happened, they simply said they had some dreams during the night, which ended up disrupting their sleep a bit. Although Aoi-sensei clearly didn't believe it, she decided not to ask any more questions, and for that, I mentally thanked her sincerely.
During breakfast, Adya, Zephyra, and Ikari joined us, and we shared the meal. Then, we received a request for escorting, which involved protecting a carriage loaded with goods to the capital of Arclight. The request seemed simple, so we decided to accept it. With the sun rising on the horizon, we prepared to begin our journey.
