Chapter 135 - Eldritch's true identity

Chapter 135 - Eldritch's true identity

After Eldritch's words, the two of us engaged in conversation. He began by telling me about the reason for his visit to Arclight. It seemed that the queen of the Eldritch kingdom had been afflicted by an incurable disease known as the 'Abyssal Mana Void.' According to Eldritch's account, this disease created a void within the victim's body, disrupting the natural flow of mana.

This also reminded me of Aurora-sama's words, mentioning that everything in this world was constructed from mana particles. Taking that into consideration, a disease interrupting this flow would undoubtedly be fatal. Eldritch also added that this disease, though lethal, could only be transmitted among demons.

"If my memory serves me right, your kingdom is located in the eastern continent, correct? Across the ocean... and if I'm not mistaken, the name of the kingdom is Daemon"

I spoke, fixing my gaze on Eldritch. My mind revisited the conversation I had with Sylvia shortly after arriving in Guinovam. Upon hearing my words, Eldritch displayed a serene smile and nodded.

"Exactly"

Eldritch replied, but this raised an arched eyebrow on my face. He had previously stated that his surname was Daemon, so following that logic, didn't that mean Eldritch was the prince of the demon realm? While this doubt floated in my mind, I noticed Eldritch emitting a subtle, discreet laugh. Shortly after, he continued.

"Well, now that there's no need to conceal my identity, allow me to introduce myself again"

With a graceful gesture, Eldritch placed his hand over his chest before continuing.

"As I mentioned before, my name is Eldritch Daemon. I am the prince of the Daemon kingdom, situated in the eastern continent"

Eldritch's words brought up several more questions, but for now, I decided that giving priority to the problem he was facing was more important.

"Hearing that, I can only feel relieved that we no longer have to fight against each other. After all, the demon country is still on my list of places to visit, and being an enemy of the prince himself would certainly spoil my plans"

I commented, a smile forming on my face. Hearing my words, Eldritch let out a small chuckle, as if finding the comment amusing, and then he said.

"This is the first time someone has expressed the desire to visit the demon realm"

Eldritch said, his eyes narrowing slightly as if recalling something distant. Then, he slowly opened his eyes and focused his gaze on me for a few moments. Next, Eldritch returned his gaze to the bottom of the walls surrounding the castle, exactly where I had left Sylvia.

Following Eldritch's gaze, my eyes met Sylvia's. She was looking directly at me, as if understanding the situation. By her side were three knights and her maidservant. While Sylvia seemed reluctant to move away, Rena didn't seem to agree much with that decision. As my eyes remained fixed on Sylvia's golden eyes, Eldritch's voice echoed at my side.

"It seems your princess has something to say"

Eldritch commented. Hearing his words, I turned towards him for a few seconds before responding.

"Yes, it seems so"

Saying that, I used my Shadow Step skill to dive into the shadows. Soon after, I emerged next to Sylvia. As soon as she saw me, she grabbed my hands, leaving me momentarily surprised, and then she said.

"Please, Makoto, let me talk to him"

Sylvia said. Hearing her words, I was momentarily in doubt for a few seconds. I really didn't know whether to comply with Sylvia's request or not. As I pondered this, Rena's voice echoed next to me.

"Sylvia-sama, please rethink your decision. They were trying to take your life moments ago. We should take this chance Makoto-sama has given us to escape"

Rena said, her serious gaze fixed on Sylvia. The knights standing next to Sylvia also seemed to share the same opinion expressed by Rena. However, faced with the determination in Sylvia's eyes, I simply felt that I couldn't deny her request. With this intention in mind, I turned to Rena.

"Rena, I know we haven't known each other long, but please trust me. I promise I'll keep Sylvia safe, no matter what the situation"

I spoke sincerely. Upon hearing my words, Rena seemed momentarily surprised by my request. Then she let out a short sigh before replying.

"I'm sorry that you have to cater to Sylvia-sama's whims"

Rena said, in an apologetic tone. Hearing those words, Sylvia replied teasingly, looking at Rena with a playful smile on her face.

"Now, what do you mean by that, Rena? I'm usually quite well-behaved, you know?"

After that, with Sylvia leaning on me, I used my skill once more, and soon we were in front of Eldritch. The first thing Sylvia did was bow her head slightly, while lifting the hem of her dress.

"It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Sylvia Arclight, the second princess of the Kingdom of Arclight"

Sylvia said, wearing a warm smile on her face. Upon hearing these words, Eldritch scratched his cheek slightly, as if he were slightly embarrassed, and replied.

"You giving me this reception really makes me feel ashamed that I tried to kill you before"

Eldritch said, letting out a few mocking laughs. Hearing these words, Sylvia simply let out a small laugh before replying.

"Well, I think this would be a good time to introduce ourselves properly"

Sylvia suggested with a smile. As she said this, she turned to me and looked deeply into my eyes, a faint chromatic glow dancing across her golden eyes. At that moment, I understood something: Sylvia had perceived the color of Eldritch's soul, although she hadn't mentioned it.

I assumed that the mere fact that she was here, talking to Eldritch, already indicated that he no longer intended to fight us. This brought me great relief, after all, Sylvia's ability was remarkably powerful in this kind of situation.
