Chapter 266 | Overworking?

Chapter 266 | Overworking?

[Feazel Gaming]

Jamie Campisi sat in front of his computer as he knew there was a person yet to meet him for the day.

In front of him, the entire team for the project Resident Evil sat still. Some of them were programmers, and others were top game developers.

All in all, everyone was waiting for Ian to get there.

“Mr. Renner is here,” Jamie’s assistant said aloud.

Everyone in their seats adjusted their posture as Ian walked in. Jamie took a brief glance at Ian’s face to see how he was doing, and what his mood could be, but it was a little too impossible to read his expressions.

“Good morning, please continue the discussion,” Ian said as soon as he sat.

“Oh, we were just waiting for you. And, right now the status is just as we expected. We’ve put the game to testing, but a few glitches have been reported this morning. So, we’re keeping an eye on them.”

“Apart from that?” Ian asked and leaned in from his chair, looking at Jamie.

Jamie turned his focus to Ian.

“Apart from that, we’re focusing on marketing. The Gaming Expo is going to be held next month. Our focus is to launch Resident Evil during that. It isn’t too bad, is it?”

Ian nodded. “That’s a good idea. Since the movie is already out, I’ll bring in the actors too, it could be a great photo-OP.”

“What if we brought the entire cast and the director to launch the game?”

“I can make that happen,” Ian said after a short pause thinking that Angela Bird wouldn’t mind, but instead this would help more to expand the franchise of Resident Evil. “Invite as many top gamers in the country as you can. Don’t forget about the U-Tubers. It’s going to be huge, and we need as much exposure as we can get.”

Jamie nodded. Everyone was serious, and the marketing team who were already present took notes listening to his words.

“We already had it planned, but I still feel like the Renner Studio marketing team would do a great job.”

Ian immediately frowned at the statement.

“I want to see the potential of Feazel Gaming in every aspect. The project is really important to me, which is why I helped a lot with the designs. But as your directors were very proud of the company, I’d like to see what it is capable of. Can’t be that hard, now can it?” Ian asked immediately, looking at the directors who were also at the table.

The room wasn’t calm as Jamie had expected.

Although what Ian said was made perfectly clear, it was almost as if Ian was holding a grudge against the company.

It wasn’t the first time he noticed it. From the way he spoke to how he spoke about the company, it was concerning.

The discussion continued for an hour, and in the end, they concluded with the fact that there’s yet more to discuss including the profit share after the game is launched.

When everyone walked out of the room, Ian stood up and Jamie quickly followed.

“Ian, is everything okay? You seem to be… Angry?” he asked, in a rather innocent voice.

“Not really. Don’t worry about it,” Ian said and walked out while giving a short smile to Jamie.

‘What was it about then?’ Jamie wondered.

The last time Ian talked with Jamie, he had asked about Leonardo DiCaprio, and it came out that they were simply best friends since college. It showed Ian how much Jamie knew about Renner Studio, and what Ian’s capabilities were.

Thus, Ian had one thing in his head, ‘Think before you speak’ which he always followed ever since the beginning.

Niko stood in the center of the studio surrounded by his coworkers who were still working on editing Inception.

After shooting, the next important thing was this, Niko was doing his best to edit scenes perfectly.

“...No, dim the contrast. It doesn’t fit well with the sequence. And I thought I told you, the sequence and how the scene fits is what’s most important,” Niko said and rolled his eyes. “I’m getting a feeling that I’m working with amateurs who simply don’t know what they’re doing… Although now Renner Studio is so close to becoming a top studio in the industry.”

“We need a break, Niko. We’ve been working for fifteen hours straight, and my back is about to break. My eyes are sore, I bet it’s the same with others.”

One of the people who was clicking his mouse too loudly said to Niko who sighed. The fact that they were working so much without a break was also making Niko worried.

The team became family for Niko in the first few months he got promoted. But ever since then, they have supported him a lot.

“I already told you guys to stop working so much, you guys can simply do the nine-hours-a-day job, and leave me the rest. I actually enjoy editing, you know? And when things go wrong, it’s making me worried for so many reasons!” Niko said and looked at them who even had under-eye bags.

The sudden knock at the door made everyone turn their heads to see who it was.

“Ian? At this hour?”

Ian frowned at seeing them work.

“Niko.”

Ian said and walked outside making Niko follow him after.

“It’s nine at night, what are they doing?” Ian asked as soon as both of them were outside. Ian’s expressions were unreadable, yet, Niko knew Ian was curious about what was ongoing.

“I’ve been working for the past few weeks, and they joined me yesterday and today. But I don’t really want them to.”

“They insisted?” Ian asked again.

“Yeah,” He shrugged after replying. He continued to say, “You know me. If I take a job, I’d literally give up on everything to complete the job. And even Keith has been complaining, but I seriously want Inception to turn out good.”

Ian chuckled. “Dude, just go home and get some rest. I came by to take my pen drive as there was something I’m working on, and suddenly creativity hit me. But you, if I see you or your staff at 9pm on something that I’ve not even been hurrying, I’d fire all of you.”

“A new movie?”

“Something like that.”

Alright, we’ll wrap it up. You want me to drive you home? I didn’t bring my car?” Niko asked, saying he had no ride home.

Ian shrugged. “Sure, why not. Give me ten minutes.”

[Set: Real Estate]

Things started to move quickly as everything was set.

Between the directors, Raelynn and Gar took control of the shooting, and Will and Martin focused on everything else.

To help with everything else, Niko helped with the cinematography.

Thus, with a budget of 140 million dollars, they were ready to do it.

“Chad! Are you ready?” Raelynn asked as she walked inside the dressing room.

After hundreds of references to many actors who worked in the industry and had so many experiences with drama-based movies, they finally went on with Chad Carter, the actor who played the part of Lucifer in the series launched by LeoTV.

Will and Gar, both accepted the fact that he was quite good at creating and establishing a charismatic personality to his act, and even the looks suited with the description Keanu wanted. After the screen test was done, Keanu approved the actor happily.

Chad nodded from his place.

“...Action!” Rae finally gave the command.

They all were in a set that was built to look like a school. It was a university. The surroundings gave an eerie vibe, but among equally uninterested students who kept looking at the professor, there was one kid in the middle who was enthusiastic to read the numerals on the board.

“...And cut! Can you open your mouth a little to show interest? And everyone else, tired looks!”

Raelynn explained the cast, and they already knew what it meant. A long day ahead.
