Chapter 208 | Good time

Chapter 208 | Good time

STAR WARS.

Two words could mean a lot of things to someone like Ian. It was nine at night, and in his hand, there was a copy of the manuscript—Star Wars.

The day he had been dreading for two years was finally in front of him.

The turn Star Wars had taken in his previous world was immense and something that he genuinely looked forward to happening in this universe.

At first when he explained this idea to John; John almost shouted the question how in the hell Ian comes up with such stuff? The beginning to the end was surreal.

What’s more important for Ian was how important the franchise Star Wars, was in his original world.

Star Wars was an American epic space opera multimedia franchise created by George Lucas, which began with the eponymous 1977 film and quickly became a worldwide pop-culture phenomenon. The franchise had been expanded into various films and other media, including television series, video games, novels, comic books, theme park attractions, and themed areas, comprising an all-encompassing fictional universe. Star Wars was one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time.

The original film (Star Wars), retroactively subtitled Episode IV: A New Hope (1977), was followed by the sequels Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983), forming the original Star Wars trilogy.

Lucas later returned to the series to direct a prequel trilogy, consisting of Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999), Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002), and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005). In 2012, Lucas sold his production company to Disney, relinquishing his ownership of the franchise. This led to a sequel trilogy, consisting of Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015), Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (2017), and Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019).

All nine films of the "Skywalker Saga" were nominated for Academy Awards, with wins going to the first two releases. Together with the theatrical live-action "anthology" films Rogue One (2016) and Solo (2018), the combined box office revenue of the films equated to over US$10 billion, which made it the second-highest-grossing film franchise of all time. Additional upcoming films were in the works, which included an untitled movie from Taika Waititi and Rogue Squadron directed by Patty Jenkins, both currently without release dates.

Nevertheless, all the information related to the previous world of Ian remained unsaid in this world, and it was his chance to create its history in this world.

However, after knowing everything he wanted to know and studying the first Star Wars movie he was going to create, he kept the pile of papers away and started typing in his laptop, the next great film he was going to put his hand into.

JOHN WICK

Action/Thriller

Without thinking more, he started to type while focusing on every note in his mental library.

In a way, ever since he saw Keanu Reeves in front of him, the movie he had in mind for so long kept on coming back to his mind again and again. With the idea of giving something to this world, he kept on continuing to type the words that could be the next big hit in Hollywood.

-

After around more than an hour, of him focusing on his laptop and every word he is typing, he felt the presence beneath him stir in sleep.

Looking down at her, he smiled. It was Raelynn. After the dinner last night, she was surprised at what Ian prepared for her. Call him crazy, but it was another girl from the club they went to on their first date.

When Ian had asked who she found hot in the club, he remembered the girl she pointed out. And the same girl woke up noticing the sudden stop of Ian’s behavior.

“...Wow,” she woke up and whispered seeing Rae sleeping peacefully beneath him.

Ian said nothing but raised both his eyebrows. Who knew this girl could be kinky?

-

“Are you going to go home? I can drop you if you want?” Ian asked noticing her dressing up.

After she was done dressing, she smiled back at him. Even with the noises that were erupting from the room, Rae didn’t move an ounce.

“No, I’d be fine. Thanks. And thank you for last night, it was nice. She is a wonderful woman,” the brunette said while Ian nodded in return.

‘She sure is’ he thought to himself.

“Is everything ready for the shooting?” Ian asked Raelynn who sat in front of him.

“Yeah, there’s just going to be a little couple of more things that I’ll be focusing on. The Chicago scene is going to have somewhat more impact compared to the script, and in these scenes-” she passed over an envelope with the scenes written inside it. “I’d change some of the stuff, would that be fine? Or do you want me to stick to the script?” she asked.

“I’ll let you know after I check with the script, and I want to know the changes before you do. I’m not asking you to strictly be on the script, but I’d have to ask you to keep the taste intact and run me over them before you try to change anything, is it clear?” Ian asked while she nodded.

“Murphy will be here to talk about the latest release, and there’s press outside today,” she said while standing up.

“Alright.”

Ian watched Raelynn walked outside the office room, and then he started typing things on his tablet.

‘Perfect’ he muttered to himself after typing down the to-do list in it.

“Murphy, can I see you for a second?” Ian asked through the intercom.

“Yes sir, sure. But there’s someone outside wanting to talk to you-”

“Is it the press? I said I’ll need two hours-”

“No, the man is saying he’s assistant for Jeff Sanson. Should I send him in?”

Murphy’s words made Ian frown. ‘Why would he be here? After all the deals Jeff has been trying to make with me, is this his way of trying to make me agree and become a slave of his?’

“Yeah, send him in,” he said and straightened up.

Walking in, there was a young guy, who looked decent with his spectacles on. He had a smile as he walked in and extended his hand.

“Lucas Hethens, Mr. Renner, I'm pleased to meet you,”

Ian took his hand and shook it. “You weren’t the one who was with Jeff the last time, were you?”

“Ah, he got fired for some reason. I’m new, may I have a seat?”

“Yeah, so, why are you here?” Ian asked straightaway with a polite smile. He didn’t want to sound too rude, but considering what Jeff had been doing to bring Ian down and showing his evilness from time to time, he knew better than to make his assistant feel at home.

“Yes, sir. Goofy is known to be one of the best companies, and mass multimedia and entertainment-”

“Yes, I know all of that. Here’s something that you might not know, I’ve worked with your company in the past, and I’m not planning to do so.”

“About that,” the tall man with glasses straightened up in the chair and extended the big brown envelope he brought with him. “I was asked just to bring this to you, I’ll be on my way out. Thank you, sir,” he said and stood up without giving a second glance.

As soon as he walked out, Ian decided to open the cover. On its front, it was written: confidential.

‘I fucking wish it’s not his nudes because he could’ve just sent them over the phone’ Ian mocked and ripped open the brown cover.

It was an agreement.

The ring on his phone brought him back out of confusion, and when he saw the name, it explained a lot of things.

“Jeff, good morning,” Ian greeted without hesitation.

“Good morning to you too, so, what are you thinking?”

‘Thinking ways to reject this without sounding an a-hole’ Ian smiled at his thoughts, “I don’t know, you tell me, what should I be thinking?”

“Ah, I like that tone.”

“What is this all about? I thought I’d made myself clear that I don’t work under you or Goofy for some more time. But you’re offering me deals back to back, and I’m starting to think that you’ve no respect for my word. Which does not look good,” Ian said truthfully.

“Ian, I think you haven’t read what’s on your hand properly. Mason retired, and I found out that three more subsidiary studios are opening far away from California.”

“They are not subsidiaries. I’m trying to acquire media companies, what are you on about?”

“I’d love to offer a great number of shares from my major shareholdings of Goofy. Instead, drop the deals with other companies,” Jeff said in a calm tone.

Ian knew what Jeff was offering. He also knew that he doesn’t want shares of Goofy yet, but he’d buy the entire company when things are ready for him.

“Thank you for your thoughtfulness, but no, I respectfully decline your offer. I wasn’t planning to do this, but what if I offer you something else?”

Ian had a dreamy smirk on his face.

“What is it?”

“Hmm, Feazel Gaming. I want it and I agree to drop the media company deal.”

Feazel Gaming was the #1 company that produces Video Games, and more than 95% of people were obsessed with the games that were launched by them. The irony is that the company was bought off by Jeff Sanson as his private assets four years ago. In comparison to the media companies, of course, Feazel Gaming had so much profit flowing in.

And for how Ian saw it, Jeff was scared of the media power that Ian was willing to get. What he didn’t know was that there were silent deals already passing through the companies he bought shares off while Mason was still intact. In fact, in no time, he’d have a lot of power under him.

The Gaming Co. was just for fun and to spread his creativity on every side. An open path to his ideas with Resident Evil and the Fast and the Furious.

The line was silent for a few more seconds, and finally, the voice came in.

“Alright. You’re on. Let’s have a board meeting next Sunday when I’m back from New York.”

“See you there,” Ian said and smiled.

Although he suspected that Jeff was already aware of the silent deals with the media companies, he was wrong—or maybe Jeff was trying something more.

‘All in fucking good time’ Ian thought and started working back on his script.
