Chapter 73 Attack of the Clones but Messier

Chapter 73 Attack of the Clones but Messier

An unholy screech resounded off as the cloned people of old Asta, slaved to the despotic Margaret, launched themselves at the heroes, their bodies shifting and twisting into different forms.

Meghan was the first to act, seemingly phasing a few miniature chain guns to the their side as they began to grow walker legs and place themselves along the walls.

“Those little guys will need a little time to make ammo, but they have burst lasers to help us if we keep them safe.”

Chimera nodded as she moved to the leftmost turret to act as a distraction as the mini chain gun started to rev up its barrels.

Aden jumped into the fray immediately, his strength and enhanced physique letting him shrug off the bladed limbs and teeth of the alien scourge.

Chimera felt their connection as Sarah called up the other clones to join her as she turned herself into a bastion of flailing limbs and tendrils.

Meghan, strangely enough, stood still after she had made the Chain Bottys, her face blank.

Before Chimera could ask what was happening, a surge of Teras’emon morphed into a blob filled with gnashing teeth and limbs and started attacking her, cutting her off from the rest of the group as it pushed her towards her mother’s side of the room.

“You think you’re trapping me?”

Chimera smiled as she called out to her powers, creating a field of electricity that arced towards every alien clone.

The shock worked for a bit, but after a few dozen were cooked, Chimera noticed that the electricity wasn’t harming them as much anymore.

Crap… are they adapting?

To test her theory, she started working with her fire powers next, causing a wall of flame to push out and incinerate dozens of the bodies.

But again, the effect would only last for a bit before the bodies turned obsidian, blocking the blows of fire and shrugging off the waves of heat.

So, that’s a thing…

Telepathically, she sent the information to Sarah and her clones as they entered the fray with her brother.

“I noticed that as well, focus on physical assaults.”

Chimera sent a feeling of approval as she shifted her body once more.

Digging deep into her animal DNA, the very first she became comfortable with, Chimera shifted her body into that of a human sized bee, with tendrils and wings to keep her afloat as she began her new attack.

Hovering over the ground with her wings and electrical levitation, she zoomed across the battlefield like a blade made to inflict thousands of cuts a second.

Truthfully it was more like two hundred and thirty six cuts, but a small part of her loved the thought of it truly being that fast.

Wait… with super speed… Could I do that?

Augmenting her limbs and tendrils, Chimera dug deep inside herself to bring the speedy powers of Chase to life in her body.

The change was immediate.

The world slowed to a crawl as Chimera began to launch five attacks a nano-second, then ten, then twenty!

The Teras’emon clones couldn’t react in time, their adaptations that were inherent to their own DNA unable to stop several attacks nearing the speed of light.

Woah…

Soon, Chimera’s side of the room was littered with the viscera of the enslaved alien clones.

Yet, the clones seemed endless.

She took a moment in her speed to check the room and see, noticing that despite the bodies piling up to about five feet, it wasn’t stopping them at all.

Her speed slowed back down to reality, allowing her to finally see how the clones were still surging after them.

A bit above the ground on the far end of the room, was Chimera’s mother.

Who took up the entire aft section of the massive one hundred and fifty foot room with her form.

Chimera saw as the massive blob form floated above the masses of clones as more and more appeared out from underneath her.

Chimera almost gagged at the literal birthing chamber that was on the otherside of the room.

More and more of the creatures came out, and each time they did, it was with noticeably different adaptations, each more disgusting than the last.

Oh… oh gross… ugh… can I even barf in this-

Chimera felt a bit of bile come up and evacuate through her mouth.

Y-Yep, still can… not a fan of that at all.

Chimera relayed the information as quickly as she could to the others, only to be once again pulled into the multiplying bodies of alien horrors.

She entered her bladed form once again, zipping across the battlefield.

I hope they can figure something out, I’m not sure how much longer I can do this before they adapt!

Sarah was having a rather confusing day.

It pretty much began with their plans to finally get revenge on Pox and Monica.

Which she had to admit, left a satisfying taste in her mouth after Aden of all people got to beat the piss out of him.

Monica was another good feeling, as her old boss had it coming for a long time.

Now though…

Her mom was apparently alive.

That was good.

She was the reason for if not all, most of the bad stuff that happened to her in her life.

That was shit.

She seemed to be trying to do good with the clones.

That was… okay?

She was now using said clones of her dead brethren to make an army to take over the world and rule it as a God.

That was really bad.

Sarah looked up at the ceiling as she pondered the weird circumstances that led to her life, and despite staring at the ceiling for a bit as her arms automatically reached out and destroyed, stabbed, and eviscerated the clones…

She wondered how the hell she got here?

A packet of info arrived from Chimera as she zipped back into the battle in that metal bee form she was using.

…cute.

Sarah went over the data as she made a few more eyes to check out what Chimera had mentioned.

It was about as terrifying as Sarah imagined it to be.

A bulbous mass that held her mothers form was launching out cyst-like growths that changed into more of the clone beings. After a few seconds of gestation, they would rush out, sporting new adaptations like the obsidian skin, or the rocky growths. Some maintaining a slime-like form would ingest the dead and reach back to her mother.

Sarah shook in disgust as she realized the method of this attack.

She’s eyeing the battlefield while taking in the dead to rebuild and regrow into a new fighting force, which allows her to adapt them to out attacks. We attack with fire, she makes them fireproof… This won’t end unless she’s taken down.

Sarah turned to get Meghan’s attention as the technopathic Junker genius turned to her with rapt attention.

“Oh, we like that look, what’s up Sarah?”

Sarah shook her head and smiled, “you don’t even know what I’m going to ask yet.”

Meghan shrugged, and for a robot with shoulder cannons, it gave off a very impressive air.

“Come on Sarah, it’s the same look you gave when we made a tree grow in Clarence’s office. The ‘let’s do something evil’ look. We got my brain's memories backed up right now so We can pull up the image. Here, just a second…”

Despite the mute desire to see if her friend wasn’t bullshitting her and could pull that memory up, Sarah waved it off as she pointed to the drones on the walls, who were now peppering the horde with sweeping bullet arcs.

“How many of those can you make, and can you make a bigger one?”

Meghan smiled, “oh honey, you don’t think We made just these two, do you?”

Meghan turned to the door they came through, which had merged back into the wall.

The glowing wall that looked to be melting from the other side.

“Our little friends are on the other side right now, and If We’re right about it, they should be here right about…”

The door finally gave way, revealing a veritable army of Bottys.

These little robot walkers however, did not compare to the mark one models, with their cute exteriors and big camera lens eyes.

The Bottys that came through the slagged door stood up like people, each sporting a massive minigun on their backs with a flamethrower in one arm and an energy weapon in the other. Dark metal covered their chassis and their eyes glowed gold as they stepped into the battlefield, arms raised forward and mini guns resting over their right shoulders.

Sarah nodded with a smile to her lips as she witnessed the robot Armageddon arrive through a melted door to save their asses.

“Can you have the Botty’s deal with the clones?”

Meghan nodded, “These guys know what they need to do, but first things first.”

Megan lifted off of the floor with what Sarah assumed was magnetic levitation, reaching out a hand to pick up both Chimera and Aden.

Bringing them to her and Sarah, they all floated a bit above the ground as Meghan gave a thumbs up to the Bottys.

“Engaging.”

The female voice of the lead Botty signaled a ear splitting cacophony of gun fire, bathing the newly birthed clones in a metallic streak of death.

Sarah grew an eyeball to record the memory into her thoughts as she turned to confirm with Meghan.

“That big one I mentioned?”

Meghan nodded, “Sarah, I’d like you to meet Ig-1.”

Spreading her arms out like a certain religious figure, Meghan laughed as a massive Iguana crashed through the roof of the now very open underground laboratory.

It’s body sported a slight metallic sheen, as if little golden wires were laced into its scales. It’s big eyes were mechanical camera lens, focusing and rendering the battlefield as it pressed its head up against Meghan.

It would have been cute if the massive iguana was a bit smaller.

Sarah, stunned by the revelation and also a bit jealous (though she would never admit it) shook her thoughts away and pointed toward the birthing chamber that was her mother.

“We need to take my mother out if we want to stop this. Something concentrated should at least slow down the clones she’s making. Does… Ig-1 have anything like that?”

Meghan laughed out loud at that, “Ohohohoho! Iggy?”

She petted the Iguana on the snout as she nodded to the beast, an unspoken command sent to the massive cyborg beast.

Ig-1 licked her with his tongue before turning to land on the now much larger battlefield thanks to the open roof.

Wondering what the massive Iguana was going to do, Sarah turned over toward Meghan, who smiled evilly.

“I’ve never been one for flame wars myself, we’ve transcended pitiful things like that. Fire, on the other hand…”

Sarah turned in time to see the cyborg lizard kaiju breathe in, only to expel a wave of flame over the other half of the battlefield.

The clones, even with their impressive adaptations, could do nothing to stop the chemical wave of flame, the blue tinted heat wave melting the most stubborn and outright cremating the rest.

Chimera cheered while Aden nodded with a grin.

Sarah however…

“I’m keeping him.”

Meghan huffed, “He’s ours and there’s nothing you or God can do about it.”

Sarah turned to her, “I will fight you for this.”

Meghan smiled evilly, “And you will lose, handedly.”

As the fire even the playing field, the two friends argued as the screech of an inhuman thing reached their ears.
