Chapter 60 The MaRch of PRogRess

“Engage!

‘Roger!’

As Meghan and her Bottys converged towards the Iguana monster, spraying a massive payload of bullets, electricity and Meghan’s own Magnetic accelerator cannon.

The cannon, after realizing it wasn’t too powerful against her werewolf opponent, had gone through some changes in design afterwards.

Now it held a twelve round clip filled with long thin slivers of tungsten.

Using her head’s up display, Meghan began scanning their oversized target and started looking for weaknesses on the massive reptile.

Her Bottys were battering the beast as it roared in protest, and while she noticed it tried to protect it’s underside, its eyes also seemed to be parts it was protecting.

Meghan charged up her powers as she felt her suit drink in the excess, spreading it into her arm gauntlets.

Pointing her right hand at the monster, Meghan braced herself with her thrusters.

“Let's see what a Tesla round would do.”

Meghan launched a tesla bolt at the Iguana monster’s eyes just as it started breathing fire on her Bottys.

The bolt landed, but was immediately absorbed by something on the lizard's scaly skin.

She noticed that most of the Botty’s electro-weaponry was also showing to be useless as it smashed against the monster’s body.

“No electronic weaponry seems to be working on it, switch to ballistics and aim for the underside belly and eyes!”

‘Yes ma’am!’

She watched as her Bottys started to focus their fire, causing the Iguana to roar in pain as some of the HEAT rounds her larger construction Botty’s were packing, smacked into its sides.

A chunk of flesh blasted off of the beast, sending the flesh flying and falling with a heap.

“YEAH!”

Meghan cheered as the monster started to panic, backing away from the approaching Bottys.

“For SCIENCE!”

Meghan laughed as she saw Copymera, one of her friend’s clone sisters, pull out a device she and Meghan had worked on before they rushed off to find the flesh guy.

It was something that reminded Meghan of the junker tech she and her dad toyed with back when she was young.

It was the equivalent of a vacuum cannon, filled with sharp needles, nails, and even toothpicks.

“Taste the power of the Splinter Cannon!”

Meghan heard a thump as the cannon disgorged its munitions with a visible shift, a small blast from the sound barrier breaking as it flew towards the beast.

Unfortunately, the Cannon seemed to be weak to air resistance, as some of the needles simply flew off course as they met the air.

The heavier munitions like the nails and rail spikes flew true, blasting into the wounded area of the lizard’s side with little resistance.

The roar of the Iguana, coming out like a massive sneeze, vibrated the ground around it as it turned to face the threats above.

Its mouth filled with flames, Meghan watched as the reptile blasted a fireball at her.

Turning off her thrusters, Meghan fell to the ground, slowling herself just as she landed to prepare her newest toy.

“Jade! Printy! Time to test out the theory. Engage Deus Ex Machina!!”

“On our way!”

Meghan launched a few smoke canisters into the air as she created some cover for her and the Bottys, enraging the Iguana as the stinging smoke filled its eyes.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

Even in the cover, Meghan felt a large pack attach to her back, and another wrapping around her legs and arms.

Finally, Her Mekka’s attached to her body, clamping to her power armor.

Meghan’s last thought in the real world ended as a needle stabbed into the back of her head.

After a few moments, she wrapped herself up in the fetal position, surrounded by a gel-like substance as her mind moved her newest suit.

With very little time to build her Machine Lab after what had happened a few hours ago, Meghan was wondering what she could do to defeat not just the Iguana, but Dr. Pox and his death child Monica.

She had a conversation with Printy about it, just before.

“My suit’s damaged, and even with the safe parts Chimera brought, some of the critical features are exposed. This won’t work against Monica or Pox.”

She sat across a table, with her AI and 3-D printer, Printy as she was telling him her woes.

“Creator, sometimes I wonder if you truly have imagination to begin with.”

“Shut it sarcasti-bot, I’m thinking.”

Jade walked over to her side, a refurbished Botty with a lightweight design placing a leg on her hand.

“It’s alright Creator, I know that if we put all our minds together, that we can come up with something.”

Meghan nodded to the supportive bot, and thought of a solution to her problems all in one.

“What if we did that?”

“Yes, Creator?”

“Yes, esteemed brainy one?”

Meghan smiled, “What if we all came together? Like a transforming robot form? Printy will deal with repairs and adding materials to our arsenal, I’ll plug my brain to merge with the new technology and bring it online, and Jade, you can help me organize it all.”

“Creator, isn’t that dangerous?”

“I agree, your mind is the only way we have achieved this level of sentience. I worry you will possibly lose yourself as you transcend to a higher state of being.”

Meghan turned to judge Printy, “no quips about me being a cyborg. It was going to happen anyway, this is just sooner and possibly better.”

“If… you are sure Creator, I will do my best!”

“It’s funny, I always wanted to know what goes on in that brain of yours. Now it's almost here and I find myself worried and afraid… is this that fear thing you humans deal with because your flesh bags?”

Meghan smacked the cube that was Printy as she and her friends laughed.

Meghan had to admit, being hooked up to her new mechanized suit was starting to make her wonder why she didn’t do this sooner.

She felt more connected than ever. Her Bottys and their charging forms as they engaged the Iguana, Jade's curious and innocent mind brushing against her own, and Printy’s skeptical but caring nature as he worked to integrate her with the systems of the new suit.

Even Mekkas 1 and 2, normally only having battle programs and little personality besides their gruff military thoughts, carried a sense of duty and honor, responsibility and even self sacrifice in their minds.

As they all coalesced into Meghan’s mind, finally connected on a level that was as much physical as it was mental, Meghan opened her eyes to the world.

“We are one.”

Livewire, in her truest form, moved her new hands as the electrical wiring in the city, pulled by her electromagnetism, wrapped around the Iguana in a gripping vice.

Her Botty’s moved like a wave under her new power, grabbing and securing the wiring to stab it into the skull plate the Iguana possessed.

Meghan felt a smile cross her now metallic body as she moved to jump aboard the Iguana.

It tried in vain to spit fire once more, but the wires compressed the beast’s jaw in a vice.

“We normally aren’t one for fire breathing lizards. Dragons were cool we suppose, but you just seem like a less impressive salamander. Let us change this…”

Meghan placed a metal hand against the Iguana’s head, and a spread of microscopic Botty’s, each being built by Printy’s new nano-forge, swarmed into the monster’s head.

Meghan could feel the Nano-Bottys as they crawled into the beast's mind.

She could also feel a failsafe go off, no doubt something that mad scientist came up with to protect his work from being discovered.

But it didn’t matter, all technology, all of it, was Meghan’s friend.

And it answered her just like a friend would.

Soon, the Iguana was twitching, millions of Nano-Bottys made their way into its brain, fixing damage, creating neural pathways much like Meghan’s own.

“How do you feel, friend?”

The Iguana, once a man made monstrosity, turned to look at Meghan with its eyes, both mechanical and focusing like a lens.

A long silvery tongue came out to brush her body, and the sensation made Meghan smile.

“Much better. None of those pesky thoughts being filtered into your head by a mad man. Though, are we any better?”

Livewire took a nanosecond to think about it, calculations flooding into her as she processed the knowledge.

“Even if we are not, it is not really our issue to handle. Ig-1 is now friendly, and our comrades are in need of assistance, yes? Let the ‘looting’ commence!”

Her Bottys, both nano-scopic and regular cat sized, rushed into the Hero’s League headquarters, possibly committing the grandest larceny the Hero’s League had ever faced.

Whether it would be remembered as such or not, remained to be seen.
