Meghan was sitting in a room with Investigator while they both waited for the Hero’s League reinforcements to arrive.
The chair was a comfortable plush, the armrests sinking her arms in just right even with the power armor, and the headrest was divine.
This was a chair made for napping in, and Meghan had a hard time not dozing off.
Her mind however, was working out the details.
Remember, they had no cameras down there, nothing to tie us to the crime.
She thought about the people, but by the time they were done raiding the warehouse, most of the personnel had left the place.
Livewire made sure of it as well, sending out her Mekkas to scout the area and do a clean sweep of any interesting tech they might have found.
All of that was now safely stored in her friend’s blobby form.
“Well, your side of the situation is all set, and the cameras were disabled by the scientists so there’s not much there to look at. All we have to wait on is Ms. Magicka to confirm the details and we’re all set.”
Livewire felt a twitch in her left eye.
Crap, what did Chimera say about her again?
She ran the list of details in her head as her mind picked out one detail.
‘Yeah, she tried to read my mind, but I was able to deflect it by manipulating my memories while she did it.’
Fuck!
Livewire had no way to stop a magic user like Ms. Magicka from reading her mind, even with her bots and her suit.
With Chimera being knocked out at the moment, she couldn’t rely on her either.
Okay, there’s nothing to say she’s checking our thoughts, right?
“What is she confirming exactly?”
Investigator nodded with the question, “first hand accounts of the riots, details from those who were near Dr. Pox's cell, and of course, checking minds to find any details that we're missing.”
“I don’t like people checking my mind, so I’m going to opt out of that.”
Investigator shifted at that, “it’s standard procedure for things like this. I assure you, she is only checking the details of the crime scene. She would never invade your private thoughts.”
“I have a wealth of information I am not comfortable sharing. I have already ceded the files regarding the warden, and I successfully helped with the riots. I do not consent to being mentally probed.”
“Please Livewire, this could help us catch-”
“I already knew where the villain was heading, and I didn’t need to have my mind read to figure it out. My Chimera helped with that as well and it almost cost her life. So no, Ms. Investigator, I won’t be providing any consent at all to mental probes or magical ones. In fact,”
Livewire made a show of moving towards the door, “I think we are done here.”
Investigator rose to try and block her path, “wait!”
Livewire moved past her and opened the door.
It was locked, but the Mekka she had sent while she was distracting Investigator had already taken care of that issue.
Livewire made her way out of the room for interrogations into the open courtyard.
She could hear Investigator trying to plead with her to understand,
Might as well be a fart in the wind for all Meghan cared.
Can’t let them figure us out, and I sure as shit do not have a way to deal with a magic user… yet. Sorry Hero lady, I’m outta here!
She lifted herself with a jolt to her suit and took to the sky, leaving an exasperated Investigator in her wake.
“Phew, dodged an adamantium bullet on that one.”
Her suit carried her over the sea as she made her way towards New Terra, the familiar skyscrapers and port district already calling out to her.
Experiments, Hypothesis~ I’ll finish them all as quick as I please~.
Livewire hummed a bit as she smiled… which was quickly interrupted by a suit wearing hero flying up to her.
The Hero was a young girl with a pair of dragonfly wings flapping behind her.
They moved so fast it was hard to make them out, but Meghan’s enhanced eyes filtered her sight so she could see them.

The suit was white with a red line straight down the middle that ended in a circle with a pair of wings around the shape.
The girl had red fiery hair, and pointed ears like an elf, along with eyes that were deep emerald.
And she looked miffed.
“State your name at once, suspect!”
Meghan took a look around her, just in case she happened to mean someone else that just happened to be flying beside her.
When it became clear that her hope of such an occurrence had evaporated like her patience for bullshit, she sighed as she turned back to the dragonfly girl.
“Name’s Livewire, I’m a freelance hero. Just got done helping out with a prison riot over at Blackrock.”
“B-Blackrock?! I never heard anything about that! You must be lying.”
I’m going to hit this girl, and I won’t even feel bad about it.
Livewire had about as much patience for children as a bull had for people poking it ass with a hot firey poker.
It ended with her seeing red and someone getting a fist to their gob.
Usually the parent.
“Look, kid, I don’t have time for this. Go to the prison if you don’t believe me. I already gave the vice-warden my info-”
“Enough! You are coming with me, villain!”
Livewire looked to the sky, the ephemeral void of the evening sun already starting to disappear on the horizon and make way for the beauty of the starry night.
God, do you hear me? It’s Meghan. Yeah I know, I called a lot and by now I got a file I’m sure. Forgive me, for I’m about to smack yet another of your children on the ass. I promise it wasn’t my fault this time, she just wouldn’t listen to reason. No I won’t get sick pleasure from putting her in her place, I learned that is the path to the devil.
With her resolve set and her mind honed to a fine edge, Livewire pointed a gauntlet at the poor young hero and zapped her with a tesla bolt.
Grabbing her before she fell into the water, she proceeded to spank said child on the rear end until she begged for mercy.
“Would a villain do this? No, they wouldn’t. Hell, they probably would have just killed you and left your higher-then-thou ass in the fucking water! Now, what do we say?”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry! Please stop!”
“You ought to be ashamed of your goddamn self, going around and accusing good honest heroes of villany just because they’re a bit suspicious. If I ever hear of a hero like you causing issues like this again, I am telling your parents, do you understand young lady?!”
“Yes!”
“Say it louder!”
“Yes Miss I swear!”
“Good, now, head over to Blackrock and speak to the Investigator. She’ll be the one dressed up like Sherlock Holme's gender bender.”
The girl left, flying as fast as she could while holding her ass.
Meghan sighed as she continued her way back to their home.
“...So, did you have to go that hard? I could feel her pain all the way back here.”
Meghan sighed louder, “kids need discipline, or they don’t understand boundaries. If not me, it would have been someone less kind.”
“Fifteen smacks, that’s kindness?”
“Could have been thirty.”
Meghan heard Chimera chuckled before she returned to sleep.
Damn, instant naps… lucky bitch.
Livewire snorted as the lab came into view, and a weight slid off her shoulders as she landed inside the hanger she built on the roof.
It was a simply chimney by design, but once Meghan placed her power armor on the outer lid, the chimney opened up. A platform came out next and slowly lowered them back inside their home.
“I’m so glad that Botty Prime got that done, a construction bot is a must for a secretish base.”
After the elevator lowered them both into the hanger, Meghan felt the releases for her powersuit hiss as she stepped out. The suit was latched to the floor so it wasn’t going anywhere.
She collected her friend and placed her on the floof chair she kept in the break area.
After that she grabbed Lunatop and placed her on the workshop table, right next to Printy.
“Creator, Chimera left a young girl in the warehouse and said girl has been practicing water bending for a while now in the corner over to the back of the garage. Should I ask her to come here?”
“That’s Aura, she has level one clearance, and be sure to place an overwatch detail on her. She's’ been cured of murderhobo-itis but we can’t be too certain yet.”
“Understood Creator. May I ask what you are doing at this time?”
Meghan connected a wire to her supercomputer/3-D printer and booted up Lunatop as the power returned to her.
“Printy, this is Lunatop, and she’s been the victim of a terrible user named Luna. Engage psychology protocols, and get her a body when she’s cured.”
“Understood Creator, am I allowed to use whatever means to assist her?”
“Barring killing the warden, causing harm to me or any of the listed users, and gross negligence on the Hero’s League’s part, yes you may.”
“Very well Creator, I shal endeavour to assist Lunatop as much as I can.”
“No, I do not wish to have that name anymore.”
Meghan stopped for a moment as she saw one of the late stage Bottys approach her, turning green and moving to gaze up at her with its now green eye.
“Creator Meghan, was it? Please give me a new name, I do not wish to be associated with the previous user.”
Meghan nodded, “I’ll have you know I am terrible with names, just ask Printy.”
“It is undoubtedly true.”
“Still, you freed me from her, gave me a voice. I wish to help you, and I wish for a name as well. Please, Creator.”
Meghan sat in her chair as she pondered.
“Jade, how’s that sound?”
The Botty seemed to dance at the news.
“Yes! It is a splendid name, I will be Jade from now on!”
“I feel jealous of you Jade, I hope one day our Creator decides to grace me with a new name as well.”
“And give you more of a god-complex than you already have? Printy is here to stay.”
“Understood Cre-a-tor,” Printy made sure to say each inflection with as much sarcasm as he could muster.
Meghan chuckled as one of Printy’s bots came to wave his leg at her in an attempt to ‘give her the bird’, which only made Meghan laugh louder.
This right here, this is why talking to robots is much better than talking to humans.
