“I need help! Please, is there anyone that can take a look at my friends?”
Crysa was in the main lobby of the Hero’s League, still holding Aden and Sarah as the drug she had given them was coursing through their bodies.
She had to find a hero scientist soon, or their bodies might be changed irreversibly.
Her Father… It felt so revolting to say that, had used a part of the formula, not the one they stole today, to make the viruses coursing through them.
It would restructure them both, change them genetically, but beyond that Crysa didn’t know what could happen.
“Please!”
“Hold on young lady, help is on the way.”
A hero approached her, dressed in a white suit that seemed to bend with him at impossible angles.
“My friends got injected with a man made virus, I need a hero scientist to help them. Please take me to one!”
The elastic man nodded, a hand to his chin that sported an impressive beard, “Very well young lady, to the Hero Labs!”
He grabbed a hold of her and began to stretch as he sling shot them to the elevators.
“Never fear miss, the scientists below will surely know how to help your friends, but first, we need some information.”
He placed a hand on her shoulder, “who are they, and can you tell me more about this attack you speak of?”
Crysa explained as best she could, choosing to omit the fact that she was involved and instead pointing the finger at her father.
“He attacked a laboratory, and these two had their parents taken away. The father got shot but I don’t know what he did with their mother. I just took them and ran as ast as I could.”
The Elastic man was writing on a tablet in his hand, his fingers stretching with the pen he was using to type with.
“Hmm, very interesting. I only hope that we can help find the dastardly fiend who was responsible. I shall hail a hero scientist and doctor team. At once!”
The hero stretched once more to pull the elevator doors open and leaped out of the elevator as it reached their destination.
Crysa followed him, pushing herself to keep up with the stretchy hero.
The area around her was rather dark, with low lighting and long hallways, but Crysa could make out a few familiar noises amongst the different background.
This place was off, but with the worry of her friends' lives, Crysa put it behind her as she caught up to her guide.
And into a group of heroes.
“Seize the girl and take the two away for study.”
“W-What? What’s going on?”
The one who seemed to lead them had an emblazoned A on his suit with a black outline and gold filligree.
“Do not resist.”
Crysa tried to run, but was immediately caught by the hands of the elastic man, along with another who had glowing purple hands aimed at her.
No!
She tried to fight them off, but as she was hit with a round of supreme drowsiness, Crysa fell to the ground in a heap.
…
Sarah was jolted out of Crysa’s body, a gathering of power and strength seemed to surge out of her, pushing her out of the person in an instant.
“GET OUT!”
Crysa screamed as her power flared, launching in all directions.
Meanwhile, Sarah was stunned by the radical shift that propelled her outward.
H-How did that happen? No one has been able to do that to me before.
“Ahhhh, make it stop! Please! I don’t want to… remember…!”
Sarah felt her clones around her shift as the power was drained from them one after the other.
Leaving her with Chimera, Clonemera and Mimicera as well as herself.
“Sarah, what’s happening to her?”
Chimera, now separated from her original body appeared in her normal child-like form.
A look of deep concern was on her face as she stared back at Crysa.
Sarah stared at the villainess as she clutched her head.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“I don’t know, but we have a problem here. She’s getting stronger by the minute!”
Crysa was gathering power, the recently shut down power lines were flaring with life as the power was drained from them in moments.
“She knows what happened to Mom and Dad, but something triggered in the memory.”
Mimicera spoke those words as she stared ahead at the gather power before them.
“She was our friend at one point… manipulated by her father to insert a drug into us, one we never knew about.”
Clonemera seemed saddened as she spoke those words.
“We got to help her, she’s the only one that knew about the past… and we still don’t know what happened with the Hero’s League.”
Chimera clenched her fists as she spoke.
“Hold her down, I will try to peer into her mind once more.”
Sarah moved ahead as the other clones made their way around Crysa.
Sending a tendril out into the others, Sarah ensured that they had access to the biomass she was currently generating, along with the newest power that she received from Crysa.
It was just as Chimera had worried about, the power that the two gifts seemed to generate was limitless in this form, so long as she had time to continue charging it.
It would have to be, otherwise Crysa might suck them dry.
“Get ready!”
“Ready!’
“Got it!”
“Let’s go!”
“Hurry up already!”
Sarah nodded as she placed her hands on Crysa’s head, her fingers piercing the skull below and injecting a cocktail to calm down the rampaging villainess.
“Gnnahh! Stop it! Please!”
Sarah focused as she touched Crysa’s mind again, diving into the brain with her consciousness.
…
“Crysa…”
This time, Sarah was walking through the memories of her… old friends' life.
She witnessed what had happened after Crysa was knocked out, how she was brought to a chamber and studied by other scientists.
It was something she never would have accepted if she had known.
Needles were inserted into each limb, and a shock was administered to keep her alive as they cut her body apart for study, only to graft it back on afterwards.
Blood was taken, Muscle tissue was separated from bone, and even Crysa’s eyes were plucked out to see how they observed things while enhanced.
Next to the vivisected girl was a familiar face, one that she hoped she wouldn’t see from this horrible show.
The Icon of the world, the greatest hero.
Captain Asta.
His suit was older, not the one he was currently sporting today, but Sarah recognized it from the article that she red about her parents.
How Captain Asta was the one who found out the horrible scheme of Dr. Pox, the newest supervillain to grace the city of New Terra.
How her parents were found dead, despite Sarah wondering if the bodies that she and her brother saw were the real ones.
She didn’t remember much of it, she couldn’t seeme to recall them completely.
Sarah just felt like it was true…
After thinking about it, she turned back to Crysa’s memories as the testing continued, up until a concerned scientist placed a hand on her cheeks.
It was one of the few moments when Crysa’s body was whole, and the scientist happened to be an enhanced human.
Biting the hand, Crysa was able to absorb the energy from the scientist enough to escape her bonds, shattering the cage she was in and breaking out.
She was told that both Sarah and Aden had died, and that they didn’t survive whatever Dr. Pox did to them.
It was then that Sarah felt the connection between Crysa and herself spike, a sense of familiarity, closeness.
Of Family.
As the memory faded, Crysa appeared in her mindscape, staring at Sarah as if she was gazing at a ghost.
“No, please don’t haunt me Sarah… I’m sorry… I should have never trusted the heroes…”
Her… friend, broke down into tears.
Sarah walked towards her, kneeling down on the floor as she pulled Crysa into an embrace.
“I forgot about a lot of things Crysa, and although you were a part of the reason why Aden was sick for most of… well forever… it seems you were a victim of Dr. Pox as much as we were.”
“I couldn’t resist him at first… not until your mom broke me out of his conditioning… I should have tried harder, I should have-”
“Shh, enough of that. Stop beating yourself up for doing the right thing. You just trusted the wrong people.”
“My friends are dead… I killed you and Aden… wait… why does it sound like you’re here?!”
Sarah shifted into a younger version of herself, the one that Crysa would remember.
“Not dead silly, I got put into an orphanage with Aden that was run by the hero scientists.”
“B-But they said-”
“Don’t believe everything you hear right? Anyway… It seemed I triggered something in your memories and now you’re trying to blow up… something I’ve been seeing a lot from people lately.
So hold still while I fix this, okay?”
Sarah held her friend’s hand as she focused her mind, allowing the tendrils connecting them to find the source of the outburst.
It was nestled in a familiar spot, one that she had seen from many of the death children in the past.
However, it wasn’t mechanical in origin.
It was a tumor, a large one that seemed to be expanding by the moment.
Sarah promptly ate the thing and digested the contents.
Hmm, genetically dispositioned to explode if a certain memory is recalled, causing the mind to go insane and eventual death.
Whoever came up with this fucking thing is a monster.
Sarah sighed as she released herself from the tumor’s location and sifted one last time through the memories.
Nothing new came to her, besides the recent events with Gideon.
Returning to the world outside of her old friend’s mind, Sarah held her as Crysa looked around in confusion, fear and strangely, relief.
“How… What?!”
“Come inside, we got shit to talk about. Also fuck you for killing Mr. Fred.”
She slapped Crysa across the face.
“Oww! Bitch!”
“Skank.”
Soon, the two were hitting each other, a confused bunch of clones exchanging looks between themselves as the group walked back to the warehouse.
