Chapter 32 LivewiRe's Debut

Chapter 32 LivewiRe's Debut

A few minutes before meeting up with Chimera…

Meghan watched as her friend raced off towards the now growing hole in the prison floor.

Just what the hell Sarah?!

Her friend came to her earlier that morning with a look of complete terror on her face.

On top of that, she dropped off a freaking super villain, said ‘oh no problems she’s cool now,’ and told her to race off to a prison.

Meghan smiled.

She’s the best.

Meghan had been looking forward to testing out her power armor, and all the little gadgets she made.

Low and behold, a problem in need of solving comes to her step.

As she turned on her suits 'electro-glider, she shot past a few convicts who were trying to accost a guard three to one.

She put out her hand, “engage tesla-bolt.”

A small sphere moved up on her hand, coursing with her body's bio-electricity.

A second later, the ball shot out three static shocks, zapping the convicts in the arms and legs.

The guard looked over at her with exasperation, “thanks for that...*huff*.”

“It was no problem for Livewire!”

The guard’s exhaustion washed away, turning into the boundless energy of a fangirl.

“Omigod! Is this your debut crime bust?! Please take a photo with me!”

Meghan would admit later that there were probably more important things than taking photos with her first fan.

Would she ever say that to any soul alive?

Hell no.

Meghan shot off after her friend, once she took care of a certain business that was totally necessary.

The Prison was a mess as she zoomed by, the guards and the prisoners in various stages of battles and fights.

Some suppression systems were in place to take out the prisoners humanely, but Meghan couldn’t help but notice a few lethal options amongst the rest.

They knew what they were doing when they tried to break out… still…

There was so much death, and so many other’s who were caught up in the rush to break out.

Livewire wondered just how much of those prisoners were just pulled along with the others.

Focus! Got a supervillain to stop!

Livewire activated her ability, cycling the electricity throughout her body as she created a field of static.

Her electro-glide started to move her faster and faster, carrying her over the wires that were buried under the prison.

It would have been fun if she wasn’t dodging convicts as well.

It took her ten minutes before she finally made her way to the hole.

In the middle of the cafeteria, next to the hole, was a familiar sight

“Aren’t you the Warden?”

Luna, the warden of Blackrock, was staring down at the hole as she turned to face Meghan.

“Fuck, you saw it then?”

“Saw the villains using that weird rock power to make that hole, yeah.”

The warden’s face turned crooked, “not that you imbecile, the labs!”

Uh oh, getting Monica vibes from this bitch…

Meghan had been the boot of many of her old bosses' temper tantrums, often deflecting her rage by agreeing with her or giving her donuts.

She recognized when someone fucked up her bosses plans for somehting.

And the warden’s look was one of someone who was about to be shit canned.

“I can fix this, it’s not over yet…”

“Look, uh Luna was it? I just need to get past and into that hole, so…”

“Don’t you move! I’m not losing my position because of a damn hero!”

Crap, why did it have to be a psycho boss?!

Livewire turned on all her gadgets at once, charging them and preparing them for the fight she knew was coming.

The warden of Blackrock Prison was already doing something, and Meghan wanted to be ready for it.

What she did became apparent as Meghan felt the whole area turn… strange.

The cafeteria tables started to float around, along with the trash receptacles and various kitchen ware.

Rocks started floating next, and then the Warden began to float as well.

“This is my prison, and no one leaves without my saying. No one does anything without my approval! I rule this place!”

The tables, kitchenware, and all the rest of the cafeteria lurched into a form that wrapped around the warden.

It became armor… no…a…!

“MECHA! Oh my god! Your power allows you to make a golem-like mech suit! Do we have to fight?! My friends really good with powers so I’m-,’

A trash can launched at her with the speed of a truck.

“Okay, rude!”

Livewire launched a plastic bottle at the mid-section of the golem suit.

Except it wasn’t just a plastic bottle.

“Here’s a special concoction for you!”

Livewire fired a lightning bolt at the bottle, which melted the plastic and revealed…

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

A blast of superheated gasoline!

The fire bomb exploded onto the golem, which caught onto the poorly made tables and more flammable trash bags.

“Fuck! What the hell?!”

“Hey! You threw a trash can at me!”

“Go to hell!”

“Never!”

Livewire started firing electro-bolts at the golem while the telekinetic golem suit started picking up random stuff to throw at her.

“Is this really how you keep order? Chucking trash at the inmates sounds like harassment!”

“Would you just stand still and piss off?!”

“I excel at pissing off authority figures!”

Livewire pressed a button on her left arm gauntlet, exposing a ring of the smaller orbs she used earlier.

“I’ve always wanted to do this… Judgement Bolt!”

Her power flared, her suit whirred to life, and an arc of pure destruction shot forth to pulverize the left arm of the golem.

“What…”

The warden was stunned for a moment as the trash all super heated, catching on fire as well as welding itself together.

It went limp as the fire and melted plastics fused together.

Livewire smirked as she threw a few small packages onto the floor, just as the warden tried to fix the arm with more junk.

Just as she planned, her packages went along with whatever power was pulling the junk along.

“You can blow up as much of my suit as you like, As long as I have material, nothing will break my Golem!”

Oh, I know.

Livewire could tell that this was a power that got stronger over time, especially if the warden had access to better materials than cheap tables and kitchen appliances.

So she decided to take out the source.

“Mekka 1 and 2, move out.”

Her little buddies turned on as they shifted their way into the cracks and open areas of the golem suit.

As much as the warden tried, there were places that had openings, places that anything small enough could make it inside and… punish her.

“You have no… wait, what’s that?!”

Livewire pulled up a screen on her right gauntlet, a video feed coming to life to show her Mekka 1’s point of view.

On the screen was a very confused warden.

“Okay Mekka 1, give her a hug.”

Mekka 1 launched itself at the warden’s face, latching onto her as she started to scream.

“Get it off! AHH!”

“Mekka 2, time to give her a jolt.”

Mekka 2 showed up in Mekka 1’s vision with a small orb-like shape, which came to life in an electric hum, and after a bit of a charge up time, zapped the poor warden in the neck.

With a concentrated taser bolt to the neck, the warden went limp as she and the golem around her came apart.

After the garbage came apart and the warden landed, she had Mekka 1 tie her up with a pair of twisty ties.

They would have to be melted together but they would make for appropriate handcuffs.

“Sheesh, why did she have to do that? We could have talked at least. Mekka 1 and 2, let's go.”

Her buddies hopped onto her shoulders as they moved back into their places in her armor.

“Now… Chimera’s up ahead.”

She looked down at the hole, taking a breath as she jumped down into the underground.

It didn’t take long for her to reach a very strange sight.

The prison was built on an island, which shouldn’t have a lot of land to work with anyway.

But this…

“It’s a medical facility, definitely some kind of experimental one.”

She could tell from her experience in the past.

This place was made for doing shady stuff in the dark.

Meghan made her way around the buildings, walking inside one to see a prisoner being vivesected alive.

She held a taser bolt to the scientist who was performing the procedure.

“I’m not one for killing people, but there can’t be a good enough reason to do this while he’s still alive. Explain now, or I’m frying what's left of your brain.”

The scientist turned to face her, bone saw in hand and a little spike of fear in her voice.

“I… take care of the ones for harvesting bio-material. This one was a death row inmate.”

“He’s still breathing to me, why not knock him out?”

“The material is degraded when we use anesthesia, he… needs to be cognizant for the material to survive packaging.”

“You’re talking about a person here.”

The scientist recoiled at that.

“He killed several families, and… my little brother! He’s not human!”

“What if it was your brother there? There’s a line you can’t cross if you want to remain human yourself. Killing him I get, torturing him? What exactly is this place for?”

The scientist, sensing that Livewire wasn’t going to kill her, dropped the bone saw as she went to grab some paperwork.

“Have you ever heard of the ‘supermarket’?”

Livewire shook her head as the scientist showed her a piece of paper.

The paperwork had the Blackrock logo of a dark mountain, with a ring around the outer edge of the peak.

“What am I looking at here?”

The scientist pointed at the bottom, where a signature was.

“Mr. Flesh?”

The scientist nodded, “the Warden has been having problems with space in the prison lately, and with so many death row inmates… she decided to use them for something.”

The scientist pointed at the man, whose gurgles told Livewire that he was still trying to talk despite the wounds to his vocal cords..

“People will pay good money for super parts, and even more when the abilities might be able to be transferred to other individuals. There’s talk about the ‘supermarket’ where you can get a power of your own for the right price. The Warden thought it was stupid, until one of the guards came back with a gift.”

Livewire couldn't believe it.

“There’s a person out there who can give other people powers?”

The scientist nodded.

“For the right price, he can even give you someone else’s power. The Warden used to be powerless too before she made the deal with him.”

The scientist moved to a window, showing the rest of the facility.

“This whole place is a slaughterhouse for the worst of society. In their deaths, we have money, stability, and if we’re lucky enough, the chance to be supers.”

They sound like Chimera… but there’s something else going on here.

“Where do you ship the parts, where does this all go?”

The scientist pointed out the window to a port with a submarine.

“That submersible takes them to Mr.Flesh, and only the Warden has the means to communicate… what’s that?!”

The scientist pointed to a figure who was leaving on the submarine, and Livewire recognized her friend as she tried to stop the vessel from leaving.

“Shit!”

She grabbed the scientist, “look, I get that you wanted revenge, and it already looks too late to stop this, but you need to get out of here.”

The scientist looked perplexed at her.

Livewire pointed to the sub, “that vessel just got hijacked by Dr. Pox, a scientist who uses viruses to kill people in the worst way possible. If he left here, it’s likely this whole place is already starting to get infected.”

That’s bullshit really, but if Chimera is fighting down there, I got to get people away from here.

Her lie seemed to work as the scientist pulled out a phone.

“Greg, get the others out of here and into clean suits, there might be a Class Z event!”

The scientist ran out of the room, leaving Livewire with the inmate.

“Look, I can’t help you, but I can make it quick.”

His eyes turned to her, and a slight nod shook his face as tears came down his cheeks.

“...Live a better life next time, kay?”

Livewire placed her palm on the man’s head, charging her gift as she shocked his brain.

It took only a moment, and after it was over, the man slumped on the table, his eyes closed with a smile.

Livewire shook her head.

First death on the job, that just means I got to be better next time.

She didn’t know if it was because she was pragmatic, or if her introverted nature made her less caring, but after she sent off the man who had once murdered, Livewire felt a bit of peace as she had saved someone from a terrible fate.

Now to save my friend!

She launched herself up as the currents of the underground wiring glided her towards the port, and her friend.
