Chapter 39 The Siege

Chapter 39 The Siege

Chimera was looking for Aura as she finally got done sorting through the gear.

Printy was sifting through the details in order to triangulate a position that super flesh broker Mr. Flesh might be setting up shop.

The information on Lunatop… or wait it was Jade now, yeah. She mentioned that it was likely in the sewers, but no sewer could host that many people.

So Chimera decided she wanted to search through Aura’s memories again, see if she or maybe one of her siblings had ties with the mystery butcher.

As she left the Machine Lab and walked into the warehouse proper, she smiled at the surroundings.

Before this place was a decrepit warehouse, with holes in the roof and broken windows. Weeds decorated the grounds and a bit of rusty pieces of rebar and scrap dotted the location.

Now?

The warehouse no longer had the outdoors. Cement and reinforced concrete marked it as a refurbished factory floor, with lines and directions marked on the support columns.

Over on the far end were a few mobile home sized structures that Chimera figured were the new living quarters, mostly due to the fact that four Bottys were moving a mattress on their shoulders.

Chimera looked forward to seeing what the Botty’s came up with for her room.

As she was about to head down there, Mr. Fred, their resident bum and lookout called her over to him.

“Little Missy, that girl you told me to keep an eye on left a short while ago.”

Chimera felt her heart jump, “dId she mention where she was going?”

Mr. Fred shook his head, “she didn’t say, but she did mention something about the plaza, you know, that fancy place near the Hero’s League headquarters?”

Chimera was about to head out when she felt her trees rustle a message to her.

Intruder.

Enemy.

Enhanced.

Chimera felt a twinge as an image appeared in her mind.

It was a young woman from the look of her, with shoulder length hair and a soft toned build. She wore a tank top that seemed to be armored around the chest, but left her arms free from any protection at all.

However, the reason became clear after Chimera took a look at the person’s face.

Green hair…

Golden eyes…

“Mr. Fred, Go and get Meghan right now!”

“Missy, what's the matter?!:

“Enemy!”

Mr. Fred took a moment to stare at her before he turned to face the door, a pistol appearing in his hand.

His normally kind face was replaced with a serious glare, one that spoke of tough times, and even tougher choices.

“Don’t worry Little Miss, whoever they be, they won’t be touching a hair on either of your heads. You go and get your mother, Ol’ Freddy has this.”

Mr. Freds normal English sounding voice was replaced with a thick highland accent, and for a moment, Chimera was stunned as the man walked out the door.

“No! Don’t fight her!”

With a strength that a man his size shouldn’t possess, Mr. Fred shut the warehouse door behind him, effectively cutting Chimera’s only way to get to him.

Chimera tried to pry the door open, but the door wasn’t budging, no matter how much strength she used.

“How?! No, if he fights her…”

Blood coated her hands, her parents' lifeless eyes staring back at her, and Aden’s terrified face bombarded Chimera’s mind.

No, I’m Chimera… Sarah… ah!

She ran, the fear invading her mind pushing her towards Meghan.

She has to know, Meghan!

“LOCKDOWN INITIATED, CODE RED #4, REPEAT CODE RED #4.”

Chimera saw the Botty’s start to rush towards the walls with tiny weapons holstered to the side of their heads as they raced into the Machine Lab.

“Chimera, hostiles invaded the Labs, I got to stop him before he gets a hold of Printy and Jade. Stay with the Bottys!”

Chimera felt the fear in her mind and heart reach a new level as she realized what was happening.

They’re here… the Death Children!

Meghan felt the familiar hiss of her suit latch onto her body once more, the latches and releases syncing into place.

The motion trackers she placed around the warehouse were ringing like dinner bells as a whole mess of robots started to descend onto their location.

Her point defense cannons took most of the bastards out, but the sheer amount of the things were already starting to overwhelm the turrets.

It wouldn’t be long before they fell to the freaking army outside their home.

Meghan felt the last click of her suit engage, and immediately spread her technopathy to the rest of the machines under her control.

It was something she feared ever since she heard of who Chimera had gotten such a power from.

This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

As soon as she locked onto all of her Botty’s, Jade, and Printy. She felt a wall of something trying to reach her bots.

It was familiar, it was cocky and brash. The will that tried to rip her creations from her protection was sneering and raging at the fact that someone lesser was using his gifts.

It was Technowolf.

She immediately hit the communication button to her speaker system and sent a message to the Bottys, and to Chimera.

“Chimera, hostiles invaded the Labs, I got to stop him before he gets a hold of Printy and Jade. Stay with the Bottys!”

She killed the system, not daring to let the bastard access even her speakers as she called forther her own army of bots.

“Creator Meghan, it appears that we are facing a technopath like yourself. What are your orders?”

“Yes Creator, let us help you dispatch the mongrel at our walls.”

Meghan sent a technopathic message of reassurance to her troops and friends.

I will deal with him, protect the others and prepare to defend the labs.

“Understood, Creator.”

“The Labs will be safe Creator Meghan!”

Livewire felt a twinge of unease hit her gut as she contemplated her next action.

She shook her head as she reached for something.

If she was knocked unconscious, all of their minds would fall to that cocky asshole outside.

She looked down at a vial that held a clear liquid.

It was the same liquid that kept the prisoners alive during those horrible procedures back at Blackrock, the one that made sure their minds were still working as they were carved to pieces.

She injected the drug into her veins.

I won’t let him have them, they’re my friends!

The drug shot into her body like a bullet, and Meghan felt alive.

The super stimulant raged inside her as she launched herself out of the roof entrance.

You’re dead, asshole!

Chimera watched as the Botty’s started to make their way through the windows to reach the outside, and she decided to follow them.

After a few hops and a bouncy rebound off a constructor Botty, Chimera launched herself outside as she caught two people fighting.

On one side, she noticed Mr. Freddy fire several bullets off of walls, pipes, trash cans and dumpsters in an effort to hit Crysa.

Crysa on the other hand was dodging so fast that the bullets whislted past her as she made the slightest of movements to avoid them.

“This is pointless Ricochet. Even after our first fight you still haven’t changed.”

“Ever since you took my leg, I promised myself I would even the score, you death eater. Now, I fufil that oath.”

“An unfulfilled oath is also beautiful, it means you tried your best, even if you didn’t succeed.”

Crysa’s body glowed green as she punched one of the bullets back at Mr Freddy.

“So die a beautiful death as well.”

Chimera was about to shout out when she noticed the bullet simply bounced off of nothing, only to hit back in Crysa’s direction.

Unlike the other shots, Crysa didn’t dodge, and the bullet passed right through her left leg.

The villainess hissed in pain, “fuck, seems you did learn something after all!”

The green glow exploded, and Chimera saw the villainess launch at Mr. Fred, like a slingshot.

For a moment they both grappled, punches and kicks thrown in to try and push the other off each other.

At least, that was what Mr. Fred was trying to achieve.

But it became clear as Chimera watched the green glow devour something from Mr. Fredd, latching onto him like a hungry wolf.

A bullet later saw them seperated, but Mr. Fred was clearly exhausted by whatever Crysa had done to him.

Crysa on the other hand, was radiating power like an aura, green flames flowing over her like a cloak.

“Ahh, your energy is very tasty, my foolish adversary,” Crysa licked her lips as she grinned devilishly, “thank you for the meal.”

“She-demon, even with that boost, I’ll put a bullet in your head, just you wait.”

Chimera pushe forward, trying to reach Mr. Freddy as fast as she could despite their distance from each other.

Thirty feet, she was almost there!

“No, I’m afraid not, old enemy.”

Chimera reached out to defend Mr. Fred, only to see a hand lance through the old hobo.

Crysa’s arm had punched through his stomach, sliding off to the side as a pound of flesh fell out along with it.

In a swift moment, the hand was pulled free, and a bit of blood and bone fell to the ground.

“No! Mr. Fred!”

Chimera landed next to the gunslinging hero as he turned to look at her.

He coughd, and a globule of blood landed on Chimera’s face as he smiled at her.

The same smile, the reassuring wink. Like a grandfather watching his grandkid visit.

Chimera felt tears in her eyes as her body instinctively dissolved the blood.

“No worries, love… I’ll be right as rain in a bit… Just… need to rest my eyes… for a moment…”

Chimera launched her tendrils into his flesh, using bioenergy as fast as she could to fix the damage.

The hole was just too big.

The liver had been obliterated, nothing left to regenerate, while the spleen and one of the kidneys were hemmoraging blood fast.

Not to mention that most of his small intestine and part of his large intestine were ripped open, spilling their contents into his body, further worsening the condition.

Clonemera! Please help me, he’s dying! I can’t… I can’t fix all of it… I just need a bit more time!

Clonemera spoke in her mind, but the tone carried a finality to it.

“He’s gone, Chimera…”

Mimi screamed in their mind, “No! He was so nice! He can’t die!”

Mimi was trying to help her heal him, but just like Clonemera stated, there was too much damage to stop, even with the extra support.

She kept regenerating him, but the blood wouldn’t clot, the wound wouldn’t close…

Copymera mentally hugged her as a gut wrenching scream shook out of Chimera.

“AHHHHHHHHH, AHHHHHHH!”

Chimera launched herself at Crysa, her powers flaring to life as her body mutated into various forms.

It settled on a person that Chimera recognized from long ago.

The body was Sarah’s, before her death and the changes with Crimson R.

The form that Sarah’s body took was incredibly different though, with levitating rocks, compressed air bubbles and hyper dense balls of water.

Then the other powers came on.

Enhancement.

Laser eyes.

Golemancy.

Sarah’s power grew.

Technopathy.

Light generation.

Mass acceleration.

Super speed.

Hyper metabolism.

Chimera and Sarah’s minds, the clones, and all of her thoughts cascaded into one being.

Her thoughts were no longer mixed, disjointed things that she took from a dead person and a power she grafted onto herself.

The being that was Chimera rose in the air with the help of her wings, her air manipulation, and other various gifts like her electro-magnetism.

“I’m going to make you pay for his death.”
