Chapter 7 Real Hero Hours

Chapter 7 Real Hero Hours

Downtown New Terra.

A little girl with a small rabbit in her hands was walking down the street towards the town center.

She was stopped by a man with a white and gold costume on his body, an emblazoned ‘E’ on his chest. He had a mop of black hair and deep blue eyes with a chiseled jawline.

The girl looked up at the strangely dressed man.

“Hello mister, I’m looking for the… H-Hero League building.”

The boldly dressed man looked down at the young lady and crouched to meet her eye level.

“Young lady, are you looking for your parents?”

The girl shook her head, “nope, I need to find the building so I can be a hero!”

He smiled softly at her, “well I can take you there, but I’ll need to call your parents, okay?”

The girl nodded back as she took his hand.

Elastiman sighed as he held the girl tight, stretching his body enough to catch the nearby buildings. Soon they were both soaring in the air.

Gosh, she’s not even screaming from the height. I mean, I usually do this to dissuade the little ones but maybe she has the stuff.

The girl was giggling as they flew across the city towards the Hero League Headquarters.

After a few minutes of rubber travel they landed on the terrace of the building with a hop.

“C-Can we do that again later?”

The girl looked up at him expectantly.

“Maybe little one… actually… I don’t believe we introduced each other.”

He knelt back down, “I’m Elastiman, the stretchy savior of New Terra. What’s your name, little girl?”

The girl placed a hand on her chest, puffing it out as she looked up with her eyes closed.

“I’m Chimera.”

That caught Elastiman off guard.

“What a… unique name.”

“It’s my name, I gave it to… my friend. Then… well… some sad things happened, so I took the name.”

“You took the name?”

The girl smiled as she started walking inside, “yup! He’s really strong, and he’s always with me.”

Elastiman was starting to get supervillain vibes from this little girl.

It couldn’t be right? The last person to experiment on children was that Dr. Pox guy. What… what if this was one of his ‘death’ children.

That was a memory that Elastiman would have preferred to forget, seeing children with maniacal looks of ecstasy on their faces as they killed people.

It was a dark day, but they got the bastard and locked him away for good.

“W-Wait young lady, you don’t perhaps feel inclined to… *ahem* hurt people, do you?”

“Oh no, Me and Chimera already got our revenge. We’re going to be heroes now!”

Red Flags everywhere!

But the girl was already inside the building.

Infiltration success, now to sign up!

If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Sarah, or Chimera, walked up to the receptionist counter in the massive building. The inside was cavernous, wide and open, with a glass ceiling. It was filled with people in capes, as well as pillars to hold the massive structure up.

The capes started to notice her, especially when she made her legs into cheetah legs and started hopping to meet the receptionist’s height.

She'd chosen a ten-year-old girl’s body based on how she looked at that age. Brown hair, and black eyes with a round cute face.

There were differences to add to her mystery though. She made'd her arms longer than normal, and her legs were a bit longer too.

Well not now since she'd turned them into cheetah legs that she'd gotten from the City Park Zoo.

Those were nice kitties.

“Hello miss. I’m Chimera and I’m going to be a super hero!”

She put as much kid energy into her words as she could, making the receptionist coo at her.

“Well, you certainly sound the part. Where're your parent’s little girl?”

“Parents?”

It was that moment that Elastiman showed back up.

“Wendy, this girl’s got a bit of a story, you know?”

Wendy the receptionist got the message loud and clear, going from endeared to slightly horrified at the young girl in front of her.

“H-Hey, Chimera, was it? Let’s get you set up in the next room, okay?”

“Yeah! Secret meetings!”

She made sure to shout that as loud as she could, so that everyone in the room would see her.

Want to make me come quietly for questioning? Good luck kidnapping me now!

Now she had a bunch of witnesses in case these guys were actually villains.

“N-Nothing to worry about folks, this one’s trying to join the junior league, you know?”

They didn’t seem to judging from their frowns.

“Come on, let’s get going.”

They both started to corral Chimera into one of the side offices inside the room, complete with boring cubicle walls and bland white paint.

Oh, I can’t wait!

Once they were inside, Elastiman stood at the door while the receptionist transformed into a super herself. She wore a dark outfit with a cape. It had gold filigree on the ends of the suit, and black all over the rest of the clothing.

She now wore a mask of her own, and Chimera gasped as she stared at the very recognizable heroine.

“You’re Ms. Mfff-,”

Ms. Magica placed a hand over her mouth, “child, some tact if you would? Can’t have everyone know about my secret, yes?”

She nodded.

Holy Shit Ms. Magica is screening heroes as a receptionist! I thought she was still battling Dr. Zlo in New Haven.

She started hopping on the chair, bouncing up and down with barely concealed kid energy.

“Now, what’s this about Clarence, did you bring another Pox child?”

Elastiman’s first name’s Clarence? Saving that for later.

“I’m not sure. She’s definitely a super, but it’s oddly familiar to one of Pox’s kids. I wanted you to check and see if she matches one of them.”

Hmm? You want to scan my body? Hahahaha! Prepare to meet my ultimate technique!

She grabbed Ms. Magica’s hand, looking up at her with puppy dog eyes as she started decoding the super’s DNA within her.

Holy Crap, she’s got some good shit in here!

Super strength, Enhanced Regeneration, some kind of enhanced nerve endings that Sarah had no clue what it was for. She even had an extra set of veins that carried some weird energy inside them.

Jackpot!

Sarah started compiling it all into a database, including how the second most powerful super in the world used her ‘magic’.

It all had to do with her extra veins, which were connected to a mass inside her.

Ms. Magica was drawing power from this organ deep beneath her liver and spleen, and this thing was supercharged with some kind of energy. The scan she did couldn’t place what the energy was, but she did confirm it was only a source of energy.

I can replace that with solar energy and make up the difference with ease. New template get!

Now that she had a complete (albeit the energy source) scan of her body, Sarah was pretty sure she could trick whatever scan she was about to do.

“What are you checking me for? Am I sick?”

Ms. Magica turned to her with concern in her eyes.

“It’s… to make sure you’re not sick child, nothing to worry about.”

“Okay!”

She sat back down, hand released and ready for what came next.

Ms. Magica knelt in front of the child, placing her forehead against Sarah’s own.

“Breathe deep, and reveal.”

Chimera could see the super lighting up, and a moment later she felt something scanning her mind.

Let’s direct that scan, shall we?

She moved the energy naturally towards her template’s persona information.

She showed Ms. Magica how Chimera was born, how the ‘girl’ in front of her was actually an amalgamation of DNA from different super beasts and dead humans all construed into a little girl’s mind. How the girl died, how Chimera learned to love humanity, and how they got their revenge against the unnamed scientist that turned both of them into monsters. She left the hero’s scan off with the little girl’s simple but sweet dream of becoming a hero.

“Hehe, that tingles.”

Chimera giggled as the hero finished her scan.

Ms. Magica’s look of concern was replaced with wonder and pity.

“She’s not one of Pox’s children… but she is a victim of his research. I believe I recognized one of his assistants in her memories.”

“So, she’s not like them?”

Ms. Magica shook her head, “she’s a little girl with a monster living inside her. The monster’s friendly at least, so there’s no need to worry, but I would place her with an A class team to be sure.”

“A class? She’s that strong?”

“Stronger, she’s… someone even I might have trouble with.”

Elastiman turned to gape at Chimera with both fear and wonder.

Chimera smiled back at him, showing her teeth… which were not human.

“So, I get to be a hero?”

Ms Magica patted her head, “First we need to train you, but yes little Chimera.”

She pumped her arm, “Hero, start!”

She kept pumping her arm, to the confusion of both of the veteran supers.
