Chapter 48 Sultry Assimilation
Idiot!
Chimera sped up using Chase’s gift.
Moron!
Tears stinging her eyes.
Why? Why would you tell her that?!
Her thoughts were hounding her as much as Glow was at the moment, as she zipped over rooftops to her destination.
Once she was out of reach, she could shift into another form, maybe look like one of the gang members Jade mentioned.
She had so much data, it wouldn’t be hard to take on a few appearances to fool people.
Right… I could just disappear, away from the Heroes and Pox.
Mom could be out there though… and Monica…
She needed to make that witch pay, she craved it so much it was starting to burn a hole in her head.
Monica used me, Pox used me. They think I’m just going to go along with their experiment because of some bullshit conditioning?
Sarah tried to calm her down through their mental space, but Chimera wasn’t hearing any of it.
It’s your fault I’m like this! I learned all of this from you!
“Chimera, calm down.”
Why?!
“Because one, you’re scaring the clones, two, we’ve arrived, and three, Glow will be here shortly.”
O-Oh…
Chimera bounced down to the street level, grabbing a Carcano (she guessed) and absorbing her inside her body.
She was screaming for a bit, but after she knocked her out and took her data.
Reinforced bones? Good I guess.
She tossed the now unconscious gang member into a trash can, donning her clothes by growing them around her body.
Chimera made her way to a group of the Carcanos, who were in the middle of beating up a young girl with a metallic arm.
“Sifter bitch!”
“Chrome wearing scum!”
“Get on your knees steel-skin!”
“P-Please stop! I’m not a Sifter!”
They laughed as she kept trying to plead with them, and Chimera sighed as she grew a tendril for each of them.
One stab to the back of their necks and bam, they were unable to move.
“W-What the hell?!”
“I-I can’t move!”
“My arms, I can’t feel a damn thing!”
The girl looked up in confusion as Chimera made herself known to her and the group.
“Hey, you alright?”
The young teen couldn’t have been more than fifteen, her green hair and eyes weeping softly as she hiccuped.
“Not really.”
“Yeah, I figured. So, what should I do to make it up to you?”
The girl stared at the abusers, now captured and staring at her with fear in their eyes.
The scared look on their faces turned to horror as the girl’s hand shifted into a blade with a glowing red edge.
“I’m not a Sifter anymore, but these punks went after me anyway. I want them to know what it feels like to not have an arm. Keep them still for me.”
Chimera nodded, “go ahead, but no lethals.”
The girl nodded as she drew her blade across the burly one in the group.
His screams were cut off as Chimera laced him with a sleeping cocktail.
Pumping a serum to help him heal the wound, at least enough to stop him from bleeding out, Chimera watched as the young girl did it to most of the members, but spared two who looked the weakest.
“I know you both didn’t want to, but these assholes egged you on. I’ll spare you this time, but don’t let this happen again. Get out of the shipyard.”
The two who still had their left arms nodded as Chimera released them.
They didn’t look back as they ran down the alleyways.
Chimera dropped the sleeping Carcanos as she moved up to the girl.
“Mind if I heal you?”
The girl eyed her suspiciously, but nodded as she stuck out her non robotic right arm.
Chimera grabbed it at the forearm and shot a needle inside.
“Fuck, that hurt… ohhh.”
Chimera decided to give her a few feel good chemicals to make up for the intrusion.
As well as the ability she nabbed from this girl.
What the hell? Her cybernetics are connected to her nerves… It's seamless!
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Chimera realized that she might have just found the person that birthed the rest of the Sifters.
She can take in robotics without issue, what would happen if I gave her technopathy..?
Chimera winced as she accidentally introduced the DNA chain for technopathy into this girl’s bloodstream.
The girl noticed right away, the chain latching onto her own DNA like a bolt to a lug nut.
“Hey, did you do something… because… I think my arm is talking to me.”
“Shit. Okay, My name’s Chimera and I can give people powers along with a bunch of other things. I… may have… given you technopathy. It allows you to speak to machines, and also gives those machines sentience.”
The girl stared at her, then at her arm.
“I’m Lark, and this… I guess… is Lefty.”
The arm started lighting up in different patterns.
“No, I’m not asking her for another upgrade.”
Chimera watched as the two bickered with each other as Chimera took them into an alleyway out of sight.
“I’m looking for Mr. Flesh.”
That caused the girl, Lark, to flinch.
“You don’t want to look for him. He’s a mad… thing! It doesn’t matter if its kids or the elderly, I’ve seen the fucker rip them apart if they had an interesting power.”
Lark looked at her arm, “the only reason I wasn’t on a table is because he wanted muscle, and my quirk gave it to him.”
Chimera nodded in sympathy, “I don’t need you to lead me to him. I just need to read your mind for a bit, is that alright?”
Lark stared at her incredulously, “you can do that?”
Chimera nodded, “It won’t hurt and I can give you power in exchange if you like?”
Lark tilted her head, “like the ability to fly?”
Chimera smiled, “electromagnetic flight or bird flight?”
Lark shook her head, “Neither, I hate flying.”
Chimera laughed a bit, “well, then what do you desire?”
Chimera shifted to her normal self with a few changes.
She made herself a teenager like Lark, with long legs and toned arms along with a red glowing right eye.
Chimera, still with a tendril in the girl’s arm, felt a spike of hormones shoot through Lark’s body after the changes.
Wait… these feel like… oh. OH! Ohhhh…
Well, Chimera just found out what it was like for someone to be interested in her on the hormonal level.
She detached from the girl as she sheepishly looked to the side.
“S-So, what will it be? You still haven’t said anythin-”
“You.”
Chimera looked back, ”W-What did you say?”
Lark placed a hand on her arm, “can I be like you?”
“Oh, haha… sorry. I guess… yeah? Sure, I think I could do that? I never tried it though… and to be honest, it’s a life changing thing. I mean, I’m not even really human anymore, just a blob with powers.”
Lark moved her arm to hug her, “I think... I would like that.”
Chimera’s brain was starting to overheat, “wha-wha-what are you doing?!”
Lark released her from the hug, “you power, the healing, the ability to change someone's body at will, it’s all fantastic! If I had that too…”
She looked at her robotic arm, “Lefty could get out of there and be a person too, and I could grow a new arm! I could be anything, and do anything, right?”
Chimera sifted through her thoughts as she traveled to her mindscape, practically freezing the time outside as she spoke to her clones.
So, are we really doing this?
Clonemera nodded, “Look at how much happier she is! If other’s could do what we do, it would be a wonderful thing!”
Copymera was working on her doomsday device, somehow combining a reactor with a beating human heart.
“Huh, what are we talking about? Sure whatever! Ive almost completed the Bio-Reactor and Chemical Bomb!”
Chimera decided to ignore that for now as she turned to Mimicera.
“Umm, maybe… we should be careful? Isn’t this what Pox wants?”
Sarah nodded, “this does feel like part of the experiment. If we do this, and that is a massive IF, we free her completely from us, no connection whatsoever. That way, she can’t be manipulated like us.”
All of the clones agreed with that, even Copymera strangely enough.
“No shackles, we and all like us, deserve true freedom! Also, the Bio-Reactor Bomb is ready!”
Okay seriously Copy, what the hell?
“Yes sister, it seems that you are creating a very dangerous thing!” Mimicera said.
“Nonsense! This Bomb will provide the entire city with energy for a year, and kill any biological material that is detrimental to living beings, like bacteria and those cells corrupted by viral infections! It is an incredible achievement of Science!”
Chimera turned to Sarah, staring at her internally as the original personality stared back.
“...What?”
We’re all based off of you, so how is Copy so messed up?
Sarah turned her head to the side, “...I always wanted to make things that helped people. I also liked explosions… sue me.”
Copymera walked up to them in her lab coat and swirly glasses.
“Sarah, I am in need of your assistance on the contingency.”
“Right. Chimera, just give it to her already.”
Chimera nodded, “shackle free transformation, coming up.”
Chimera returned to staring at Lark’s beautiful face as the teenage girl stared at her with heat in her face.
“Okay, so we're doing this then right?”
Lark nodded, “yeah, I want this.”
“It’s irreversible, you’ll be changed into a blob like me forever. Are. You. Sure. About this?”
Lark grabbed her and kissed her on the lips.
“Yes!”
Chimera’s brain has stopped working… running diagnostic.
Results found, the target's brain has been subjected to intense states of overwhelming, paralyzing, joy.
Beginning restart process.
“Buh?”
Initial restart has failed, beginning process, restarting.
“A-Alright!”
Chimera absorbed Lark inside her body, and rushed them inside a dumpster as she began her work.
She did her best to ignore the… noises Lark was making as she started a process that she never tried before.
Chimera heard Sarah snicker over her as she began working out all of Lark’s kinks.
“S-Stop that, it’s embarrassing!”
Soon she was joined by her other clones, all watching as she started working over Lark’s genetic code.
Copymera had popcorn and 3-D glasses.
Mimicera was covering her eyes, yet a slip between her hands revealed them staring with a bright red face.
Clonemera was smirking at Chimera.
And Sarah was nodding in approval.
Chimera turned back to her work as she did her best to ignore her clones, and hearing more sounds and things she never experienced.
It changed how she thought the human body could work, the unshackling of all the code that made up who someone was, laid bare before her.
She felt connected to Lark on a level she never had with anyone else.
It was innocent, it was exhilarating.
It felt right.
Chimera smiled as Lark smiled back at her.
“So, got anymore for me?”
Chimera did.
