Aura had been having a bit of a rough day… life, maybe even existence.
It was one thing to have your ass handed to you by what should have amounted to an idiot in intelligence, according to her sister.
Knowing that said sister was using her power to mindjack her into subservience…
Aura felt betrayal like nothing she ever knew.
We were supposed to fight the heroes together, to overcome them for father’s grand plan, and yet…
Aura was not crying, she would not cry over this!
The wetness around her eyes must be some form of new super allergy that Father didn’t account for, that’s right!
As she walked past the homeless man who tried to call her back, Aura made her way towards the seat of those that her brothers and sisters fought against.
It took a good while, and Aura enjoyed the sights of New Terra while she made her way to the Hero’s League headquarters.
The plaza was an extravagant thing, with statues of various heroes and a wall for the fallen.
Aura found herself drawn to the wall, a prickling feeling that came to the back of her mind.
Before, I wouldn't bat an eye at these fools… but now…
Aura felt a pang of sympathy, and even, dare she think it, a comparison between her and them.
They strived for their goals, thinking they would live to see the next day, with their loved ones and family.
Never realizing that they were destined for death, and to be cast aside before reaching their goal.
Aura felt the wetness return.
Stupid emotions, I am the master of myself… I won’t… *sniff* I… won’t….
She cried, for the first time since she was born.
She wept for the people that died because of her.
She wept for herself, for realizing she was just a tool for her sister and Father’s machinations.
Aura fell to her knees as she used her arms to steady herself against the wall.
“...You alright?”
Aura felt a hand lay on her shoulder.
Despite her rampaging emotions, she grabbed a hold of that hand, holding it tightly as she kept weeping.
“It’s… wrong… they shouldn’t have died… I…”
“Hey, it’s okay to cry. Lost a family member, did you?”
My family is gone… they betrayed me, and likely will kill me when I meet them next.
“Yes…”
“Hey… it’s okay. You know… I lost my parents too.”
Aura looked up to stare at a rather beautiful young man.
His olive skin and well toned physic didn’t distract her from his eyes though.
Deep crimson, like a little girl that had saved her.
He knelt beside her, brushing a part of the wall that showed two names.
Margaret and Bryan Bockman.
Aura watched as the young man put his hands together in prayer while also doing a motion with his hands.
“My parents died protecting a formula, and were killed by their best friend. Trust me, I know how it feels.”
His praying hands turned into a pair of fists.

“Everyday, I wish I could meet the man, ask him why, and for what reason he decided that they needed to die. Everyday, I hope that the bastard dies before he hurts another family.”
The energy he held seemed to drain out of him.
“But it won’t bring them back, and it won’t make things better. The only thing I can really pray for, is that I don’t lose anyone else.”
The young man turned to her, “my name’s Aden, what's yours?”
Aura felt her throat clam up.
“Umm… m-my names… Aura.”
“Aura.” He smiled a dazzling smile at her, “Nice to mee you Aura.”
Aura felt her heart skip a beat.
“I-It’s nice to meet you… too.”
Aden, the kind young man, lifted her up rather easily as he took her hand again.
“Want to grab a bite to eat? The campus food sucks, but luckily there’s a few food trucks nearby with a mean gyro.”
Aura’s heart was doing flips, and her stomach was in no shape to be eating anything.
Yet.
“I’d love that.”
She gripped his hand tight, perhaps a bit too tight for anyone who wasn’t enhanced like herself.
Yet he returned her grip, with a bit of force of his own.
He’s enhanced too…
A smile she didn’t know she had bloomed on Aura’s face.
This feeling… I want to know what it is.
…
Aden’s head was doing front flips and cowtows at the girl across from him.
He decided one day to stop by and pay respects to his parents, something he had never been able to do before after his run in with Dr. Pox.
It was a spur of the moment thing, something to keep his mind off of the tests and homework he had come to know, and the strange obsession his headmistress Lorelei seemed to have with him.
She kept an eye on him after the issue with the other two teachers, under the guise of making sure he wasn’t being treated poorly.
Yet, he got a feeling there was more to it, and that thing his sister said about geniuses going missing started to creep back up in his thoughts.
So he decided to get away and pay his respects to the family he lost.
And met a young woman who was close to bawling her eyes out.
His father’s teachings came back to him in a flash.
Son, when a girl’s crying, you have to do two things. Make sure she's alright, and distract her. Trust me, it works wonders.
So he did.
And now said girl was sitting across from him, eating a rare steak with glee.
With her hands.
Why does it look hot when she does it?!
Aden shook his head.
“Good to know you’re enjoying the steak.”
“Arf you kIddfing? Thifs ifs great!”
Aden watched as she chomped down on another rare steak, her sharp teeth ripping through the meat easily.
Aden waited for a moment when Aura was done eating to try and speak again.
He started to open his mouth when he realized there was a bit of red on her cheek.
Without realizing it, he went to dab it off of her with his napkin, eliciting a blush from the young woman.
“U-Umm, I c-can..”
“Don’t worry, I got it.”
Aden got the spot after a few wipes, not realizing that the rest of Aura’s face was starting to turn a slight pinkish hue.
“There, all set.”
“Thank you…”
Aden sat back in his chair as he turned to speak.
“Do you have a girlfriend…”
Until Aura beat him to the punch with a right hook out of nowhere.
“Umm, n-no?”
She moved in closer, closer than Aden thought possible until she was sitting on his lap.
“I’ll be your girlfriend then.”
“W-Wait, don’t you have a boyfriend? Wasn’t that what you were…?”
He knew it was a lazy deflection, but Aura simply bulldozed her way past it.
“Okay, you’re my boyfriend now.”
This is way too freaking fast!
But before he could even object, she kissed him on the lips.
It was sweet, vulnerable, and a little innocent.
Not that Aden had ever been kissed before.
Yet, that was the best way he could describe it.
Once they parted lips, he stared at her with incredulity at her act.
Aura simply smirked, like her plan came to fruition.
“There, now you have to be my boyfriend.”
Aden sighed before he pulled her in for a hug.
“We need to work on how you think things work.”
Aura smiled at him, “I'm not hearing a no~.”
“Because it’s not, you idiot, but still.”
Aden came to look for a distraction, but ended up picking up a girlfriend instead.
Oh god, what will Sarah think?
